I'm only speculating, but maybe it was a cost saving measure?

just returned from SWAN....

originally booked for Dolphin but when I checked in they asked me if I could wait for a room , it would be in the Swan and I would get a balcony.:happytv: :happytv:

I almost died and went to heaven OMG..I think I said yes:banana:  too fast.

we didn't get the room tilll 4:30 but that was okay. Had beautiful water view....beds were so so comfortable.....I never wanted to leave.

question? is rooms at Swan same size at rooms at Dolphin? we loved our room. Spent first few nights at CSR which we loved, but for the price, this was unbelievable. Pools great, people wonderful. I don't care that we had to pay to park...... beds were worth the price:cloud9: :cloud9:

Wow, you lucked out! Good for you! Did you enjoy the balcony at all? When we've had a balcony, we always make sure to spend some time on it. I like to have my morning coffe out there, and in the evening relaxing and soaking in the surroundings.

Regarding the room size it's minimal. I hardly notice a difference between the two.

thanks... because I personally liked Dolphin better...seems quicker to the pools. although the smaller pool by the swan was nice

and yes I made the time to enjoy the balcony..one night DH & I had cocktails watching the boats and another time we got breakfast and brought it up to the room and enjoyed it outside with coffee

Also, the teenagers I had with me enjoyed their chips and sodas on the balcony.:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I was happy about my great rate at the Swan and now I am even more excited because free dining is starting the day we leave. I think people who can will switch their reservations and the parks will not be as crowded.

Thought I'd give this thread a little bump! I'm so looking forward to a long weekend trip to the Swan 4/19-24! I was there for 2 days last month with my son - but 2 days was way too short. The parks ought to be less crowded, and the Flower and Garden Festival will be going on. And - I'll celebrate my birthday at WDW! :teeth:

When you get back, give us a quick report! Room, restaurants, pool, etc. Looking forward to our Swan stay 6/6!!

Have fun!

I'm afraid I won't have much to report, because I've never used the pools, and I usually don't eat at the Swan/Dolphin - other than getting a sundae at the Fountain. But I expect the beds to be as heavenly as always. :)

Can anyone tell me if you can get Mickey waffles at the Dolphin? We had them when we stayed at the CBR and are looking forward to having them again when we stay at the Dolphin in May:banana:

An early Happy Birthday, Nancy!! :cool1: Say for a week or ten days longer, I'l say hello there.

Hi, I thought we'd be at the Dolphin in July, but we now switched everything to the Swan for May 19 - 26. :thumbsup2 DH has a conference somewhere in Orlando, so my DD10 and I will be on our own during the days. :goodvibes

Just wondering about bfast. :confused3 We will do room service some, but what about a quickie bfast on the go? Is there anywhere in the Swan to grab a muffin/coffee and or juice? What options will we have?

What is available at the Dolphin for bfasts? Is Fresh a good bfast - is it full service or a fast, quickie type? Anything else at the Dolphin for bfast? Maybe BW bakery??

Just need some good ideas for fast and maybe a sit down too. We haven't stayed at the Swan/Dolphin for about 2 or 3 yrs now. I booked Cape May Cafe at the BC for a couple bfasts and I like the yogurt parfaits at the BC's fast food shop. :) But if there is something similar at the S/D that'd be more convenient.

Also, since this is being expensed, I booked a traditional standard view room. Am I going to be looking at the parking lot? We are SPG, but got bumped down from gold to green!! I don't know what is available for SPG basic, lol, as far as any preferred rooms or upgrades at all.

THANKS! Sorry for all the questions....just thought I'd get them in in one shot. :flower3:

Yes!!! My DW just booked our 8 night stay at the Swan starting 12/20/07!!! Gotta love using the Amex Starwood card when the points will pay for 7 of the 8 nights for us to go! This will be our second time at the S/D for Christmas too.

Hoping someone will answer these questions.

Best for quick hit and run would probably be Picabu's at the Dolphin. Fresh is great, sort of a buffet, but made to order stuff too.

Hoping someone will answer these questions.

THANKS! Me too!

Ok, Thanks Dan.....so nothing really quick at Swan?

How about that traditional view?? Is it parking lot?? What about any SPG preferred or upgrades?? Anything??

Thanks for any info. Feeling pretty lost with the S/D. I know my Disney resorts, but these are not at all as familiar.

There is a coffee and muffin bar just off the main lobby of the Swan, I have never used it. Not sure about views.

The bar in the Dolphin lobby (by the escalators) has muffins, bagels, juice, coffee, etc. in the morning too. :) A good selection of items - quick and yummy! ;)

You'll be able to grab and go at the Swan in the lobby that exits towards the boat docks. Muffins, croissants, etc. plus juice and coffee.
