17 Kids and Counting starts tonight, not October 1st like previously reported

It's official: The Duggars are a true pop culture phenomenon. With their regular appearances on national talk shows, their countless press clippings and their enormous online following, this 19-member family from Arkansas has all of America talking. However, while millions of people know of the Duggars, few are familiar with the individual personalities and unique experiences that make the family who they are.

Audiences will get the definitive view into this one-of-a-kind world on Monday, September 29, at 10 and 10:30 PM (ET/PT) when TLC presents the all-new series, 17 KIDS AND COUNTING.

The patriarch and matriarch of this large—and still growing—group are former high school sweethearts, Jim Bob and Michelle. With values rooted in their strong personal faith, Jim Bob and Michelle firmly believe that every child is a gift to be cherished. After more than 20 years of marriage, the couple has received 17 gifts—ten boys, seven girls—with number 18 on the way. With only two sets of twins among the 17 children, Michelle has been pregnant for nearly 12 of her life. Another vital piece of Duggar trivia is that each child’s name begins with a “J”—Joshua, Jana, John-David, Jill, Jessa, Jinger, Joseph, Josiah, Joy-Anna, Jeremiah, Jedidiah, Jason, James, Justin, Jackson, Johannah and baby Jennifer.

My local cable has it on TLC. I haven't seen any commercials for this, seems like it was poorly advertised... I wonder if many people will tune in? It was also previously reported to be on Discovery Health not TLC?

I'm laughing because I am torn between watching "The Hills" on MTV and the Duggars on TLC! CANNOT top that for the huge disparity b/w the two! I know they will be on repeats, just don't want to wait for either one. I'm a TV goofball, I know...

It is a hard decision but the hills can be watched the next day on-line and you can't watch the duggars online.

Does anyone know what Daddy Duggar is doing for a living? I know he used to be a congressman.

I thought he was in real estate or something, though with the current market he might have moved on. I know the two oldest boys run a used car dealership together, and I thought that was something Jim Bob (oh my..) did as well.

They just seem freakishly happy all the time. The kids are all cute, but I just can't imagine having that many kids.

I was cringing watching them hail a cab in NYC- he tried for a little while to hail a cab but they were all full so then he puts some money in his hand and waved it around in the air until a cab pulled over- that was a first for me LOL!
The other thing was they were like a freak show in NYC (is that even possible???) but she has the kids pose for people wanting to take pictures and they have the children actually hand out photos of their family- it was just a bit much to me.
