NEW...DOLPHIN/SWAN..."questions and answers"...tips and hints!

HI Folks!!!! Just me relaxing in Nashville. Bucky lost the game (BOO HOO!!!!) but the weather is great - sunny and about 60 degrees. And the 5th quarter was a blast!!! I forgot my connection cable for the camera so I can't post any photos right now but I took a ton of the band during their fantastic 5th quarter performance. Wasn't really fond of the officiating - a fumble is a fumble except in this game!!!

We are off to brave the rush hour traffic of Nashville to find supper for my son - he didn't eat at the game - have to focus!!!! Mom - why are you eating we are here to watch the game!!! (Sorry kiddo - when my tummy says it is time to eat - I am eating!!!) DD was not really interested in the game but said the 5th quarter was the best part. She liked dancing in the stands!

PS - I do believe that Summerfield Suites are now my favorite on the road motel. I wish there were more of them!!! Other than a slight shortage of hot water this morning.... it is a fantastic place. We had hot waffles for breakfast - nummy! (most of the families are squeezing about 6 people in a hotel room so I can understand the hot water shortage!

So sorry about the flu battles. DS & I had flu shots, but the one going around home is a different version. That one only lasts about 36 to 48 hours though. We've avoided it so far. Hope you are healthy soon.

DH and I just got home from a lovely dinner at my cousin's and her husband. It has become our New Year's Eve tradition. She and I are heading off to do some outlet shopping tomorrow.

Disbug and Ozzie, so sorry to hear the flu has visited your family. Sending PD a P's that Disbugs 2 DD's and Ozzie's DS feel better soon. Disbug I have the journal and box! Thank you for the pin and nice letter! I have a pin to put in the box and will fill in the journal, ASAP. Hugs!

We are no longer on the east wing in a renovated Jr. Suite! We are in the west wing in a renovated Executive Suite! There was a mechanical problem with the Jr. Suite and they moved us! We could not believe they put us in an executive suite!! They are fully booked and did not have anymore Jr. suites. DD is in the bedroom part of the suite and DH and I are in the large room. The large room has a king murphy bed, a sofa, 2 overstuffed chairs, coffee table, TV, etc. There is also a butlers pantry with granite counter tops. There is a bathroom in DD's bedroom and a large bathroom in the other room with a sink inside and a sink outside the bathroom! It is quite a bit bigger than the jr. suite. They have been so nice to us here at the Dolphin.

Last night we had dinner at LeCellier. We all had the filet migon. DH and I had a shrimp cocktail for starters and DD had the salmom fish cake for her starter. For dessert I had the club cake, DH and DD had maple cheese cake. The pretzel bread sticks were as good as I remembered! No complaints about that meal! Epcot was getting alittle crowded so we decided to take tour guide mikes advice and switch to MGM. We listen to Frankie and the West Side Boys for awhile and actually had a fast past for TOT and used those. We called it a night early because we want to take tour guides mikes advice AGAIN this morning and get to Mk early. According to TGM it will be quite empty until noon. Most of last nights revelers will be sleeping in today. We plan on leaving MK by noon and have a PS at Kona Cafe for 1:00. Tonight we are finally trying Palios! Tomorrow night we are all getting massages here at the Dolphin Spa.

What a fabulous upgrade, Muffy! Your description of your meal at Le Cellier sounds fabulous... I am hungry right now! You're going to love Palios!

I had to laugh when I read the tour guide Mike part. I also did tourguide Mike on our June trip! I have to say he was never wrong! My review of the Swan is up on his site. When you find my entry, you'll see I have the perfect fifth grade teacher name. LOL Dh claims I married him for his name... I say I gave up a perfectly good Polish name for a plain name so it was darn good that I loved him!

My vouchers came in today's mail! I have our reservations, I have our plane tickets, I have our vouchers.... when will my countdown say zero?

Back for a little more shut-eye and a shower! DD2 is still in hospital. Poor little tyke! She had a bit of a bad night. Tried to pull the IV out and kept sticking her legs through the bars of the crib. Finally had to roll bedding around her like a cocoon. She is off the oxygen now, but constantly coughing and won't eat. Many thanks for PD & P from all my Dis-friends... it is appreciated!

MT I am holding up as long as I keep a cup of coffee in one hand and the other hand under my chin! This is a whole new brand of tired, to be sure! I will post my pictures from WDW when I can. I was able to get out several times for photo ops. Rode the boat ride in Norway twice, and I saw the little Mermaid in MGM. That rounds out my thrill ride experience for Christmas 2003! But Sierra and I did get to ride in the front of the monorail a few times..! The weather was so beautiful. I would just go out on the balcony and truly enjoy that blessing every time I was able.

Muffy Glad you got the pin... wasn't sure if it would be you or ZW! I really liked the journal because of all the neat sayings in it! Seemed perfect for our group!

ZW How's it going? Did you get your little green alien?

Steamboat Girlie The name of that drink at the Swan Lobby bar is a "Cherry Bon-Bon". It is made by pouring Woodford Reserve Bourbon (made by Jack Daniels) over maraschino cherries and then after it has marinated for however long you wish (but 24 hrs minimum). The juice is poured off and that is the drink you remember. This was exclusive to the Swan and is no longer made (FYI!)

Lou How come that cat resembles me after last night?? It was funny but I knew it was midnight because just as DD2 drops off to sleep the deep booms of the fireworks canons started up. We got all of the noise but none of the fireworks could be viewed from our window. The hospital is right on the river downtown and that is where they shoot them from.

Disbug...hang in there. So sorry you are all going through this during the holiday, esp. at Disney. More pd coming your way. Hugs to your dd2.

My ds is coming home today. He was so sick, he couldn't even go to the football game. Stayed in bed in his hotel room(on his birthday too). They are driving him back to Columbia and we are picking him up there and bringing he and his car back here. He can't even drive. Our Dr. called a prescription down there for him..."Tamiflu". It is the new drug that is supposed to take a day or two off your sickness. Wasn't enough to get him to the game. I need to get his room ready and keep him away from dh, so he doesn't catch this. Thanks for all the pd. Not looking forward to this nursing gig...I will be looking like the Lou's cat too!

Muffy...so glad you are having a great time. The massages sound wonderful. And the executive suite! You hit the jackpot this trip! Can't wait to see your pictures.

I spent most of the day shopping at the local outlet mall. It is about an hour from my home so it isn't a shopping trip I do often.

Muffy~ that's the S/D for you - taking good care of its clientele! I know how you feel getting an executive suite. It was the way I felt getting a jr. suite instead of the standard room I had booked. We ate at Palio's for the first time on our last stay. I really liked it and will make sure I return on my next trip.

Disbug~ PD for you and DD2 - keep your chin up - your sorority is sending you good vibes .

ozzie~ my DS was given that prescription for his flu last winter and did help diminish the duration. I'm sure your TLC added to the 'script will make him better in no time.

Disbug - surely hope your daughter will be out of the hospital and feeling much better very soon. You both need some rest - as the patient and the caregiver.

We did have the flu shots here- both of us are exposed to kids every day and we hope this will help our odds. To all those who are in the throes of the flu now- sending some PD your way.

Mouseteacher- haven't we had some great weather for our school vacation? Can not remember this long a break - 2 weeks- or this good weather over the holidays.

#1 Hockeymom- just think, your trip is easliy within sight. Have a fantastic trip with your son.

DD2 still in hospital! Her white count keeps dropping and she went back on oxygen last night! Arghh! Back to the drawing board. Little more sleep and a shower then back to the baby! Feel sorry for the other DD's as well. They aren't having much of a Christmas vacation! DD9 is out washing the cars (good kid!) DD15 still recupping. We'll just have to make it up in the nearby future! Keep healthy everyone! You DON'T want this bug, whatever it is!

Disbug, I'm so sorry to hear your DD 2 is still sick. I know you must be very worried. I am still sending strong PD and P's. Thank you for keeping us updated. Take care.

The journal and box was at the Dolphin concierge desk. It was filed under S for sigma delta. I have filled in the journal and will return it and the box to Dolphin concierge.

Today DD and I spent the day at Blizzard Beach while DH did Richard Petty Driving Experience. We are now back in the suite and relaxing. Tonight we are eating at Todd English's new restaurant Blue Zoo located here at the Dolphin. We did have breakfest at Fresh on 12/30. It was a great fresh breakfest buffet. Everything is made fresh! Tonight we are getting massages. Looking forward to THAT! I will try to write more later.

If I have a CRT ressie for 8:30 what time do I need to hop on the bus? I have never been so I have no idea how long it will take to get to MK from the Dolphin.

Also, how do I get from the MK to MGM? Is it easiest to take a bus back from the Dolphin and then hop on a boat or walk? How long will this take?

I guess I should mention that our trip is in Mid March, I know this can be a busy time.

Muffy~ Thanks for the INSIDE reports! I, too, am anxious to hear about Blue Zoo. Todd English is a Boston chef with restaurants near our home but I have yet to eat at one. It will probably take a trip to the S/D to eat at one of his restaurants.

kctinkerbell~ It can take about 45 minutes to get to the MK from the Dolphin depending on if they stop at both Y/BC and the BW (the first stop is the Swan). I would start out early since you can enter the MK with a PS for CRT. MGM from MK - take the monorail to the Ticket and Transportation Center where you then get a bus to MGM/or take the monorail to one of the monorail resorts (GF, CR or Poly), go to their bus stop and wait for the MGM bus. You could take S/D bus back and get off at the Swan or the Boardwalk and walk to MGM but the walk is about 15 minutes. I don't remember if there is a bus stop for MGM at the front of the MK - I believe these bus stops are to the resorts only.
