Dreamflight -- Oh no -- gave you the wrong impression. Only the 7 and the 3 were mine - the 4 and the 2 are my nephews. When we went to the poly I had my two sisters and mom with me plus the kids. Even with four adults, it was still a bit chaotic though.
By the way, loved your latest pictures. I was thinking of getting a digital camera soon - but I am a bit intimidated by the technology. Not sure what to get and am afraid that I will buy the wrong thing for the wrong price. Also afraid of accidentally deleting my pictures. Finally, how long was your latest vacation? From all of the places and pictures, it looks like it was over a month. I am very jealous.

Debbie, good morning back at you. I thought I was the only one who woke up on a Sunday morning and said what should I do first? Laundry? Go for a run? No, go to the Dis, don't want to miss anything good! I am sure you will see your DS before Thanksgiving - eventually, he will arrive on your door step with two giant bags of laundry and a smile.

Well, time to start the day. Hope you all have a fun holiday weekend.

Lauren

I've been gone since August 14th and just returned yesterday. I figured I had a lot to catch up on with this thread (the old one!) and I didn't have any reminders from the DIS!!! My DH installed a new computer while I was away ...so I may have missed a reminder ... glad I found the new one!:D I must go back and see what I missed on the old thread. I don't want to miss and of DF's vacation posts!!!

It is time I learn how to post photos ... I want to share some of my trip ... I so enjoy seeing the photos from everyone. DF ... I sat in the St. Bart's chair at Margaritaville ... brings back so many memories for us!:D

We loved Poly concierge, thought Portofino Bay was spectacular, and especially enjoyed the AKL concierge!:D We had a great trip. My photos are sporadic, I missed some events and took too many of others. At Discovery Cove we bought the disk with 20 pictures on it and another disc from the aviary. THe whole family was unanimous in deciding Discovery Cove was our best time on a vacation ever!:D And it's hard to get a 6 and 14 year old to agree on those types of things;)

I'll go back and review the photo posting instructions ... who knows how long that will take me. I may be calling for help Ozzie!

School starts Wednesday ... back to the real world ...

DF - I replied to your SOS. All you need to do is cut and paste and reverse the brackets.

joshua4 & KellIR - You've made the DIS Class Yearbook

Thanks Loubon! I was thinking of changing my screen name though. I chose Joshua4 a long time ago when needing a quick name to get into these boards I had stumbled on to. I was on the boards planning a trip for my son Joshua who at the time was, yes, you guessed it, four years old. I wonder if there is a way to change screen names without losing my veteran status? I could find a cool name like Mouseteacher or Hockeymom.

Thanks again.

Lauren

Don't think by changing it you'll get in a second time....

Some people will go to any extreme.....:p

Good morning all,
Mouseteacher.......I remember dropping off ds at his dorm freshman year and crying on the way home. But don't worry, you always feel better when you know they are happy. AND he will come home for a good meal and money! My ds has had a apt. now for two years, so stays at school throughout the year. Goes to summer school, works....being independent. But they come home and that is great.
KelliR....I have a picture to post for you....I took a few of the baton twirler at the U. of Illinois yesterday and I thought you said you knew her. I will try to get that posted later today or tomorrow. She was beautiful. (although my picture wasn't very good)

Loubon ... I just checked out the yearbook ... cool! I was afraid it would be something from my past surfacing to haunt me!;)

Ozziewags ... yes I do know her and she is a lovely young lady ... I can't wait to see the photo! Thanks for thinking of me:D

Lauren - Your post to Debbie re: early am posts and off to college - I'm Karen aka mouseteacher :D Debbie is hockeymom. You'll get us all straight - just keep posting and enjoying each other's company! :D

*huge sorority wave to all*

"Debbie", moi, stayed in bed until 8:30, read the paper on the deck cover to cover with a few cups of gevalia, and basically enjoyed the peace and quiet! I'll accept all the jealousy, as my life is usually so hectic that real mail gets read at hockey rinks!

Mouseteacher>> I also saw Richard Harris in Camelot when he was in Detroit years and years ago. This was with my parents! (Hard to believe I didn't always pay all the bills!) Sound of Music is coming to Detroit the end of Sept/early October for a short engagement. I almost bought two tickets yesterday for it, but I am unsure what weekends are "hunting" weekends for DH, so I didnt hit "but" through ticketmaster. I haven't seen a lot of stage shows, but grew up with a mom who had seen many of the classics on Broadway. I wish we could see more, but it seems that vacation time is the only time we actually have time to drive/watch/return!
I agree with the other posters... he will be back with laundry, a lack of money.. and a new love of the family he missed!

Lauren>> Of course pedicures are absolutely necessary! I hope both of you have your nails done, also! I say go for the Mickey on the big toe if that is what your mom wants! I know that you two will have a lovely time together in Disney.

DF>> As always, the pictures are beautiful! The Wonder if definitely heads and tails above the cruise ship I have been on. The rooster pics brought back memories of our stop at Key West. I wish we could have stayed there more days instead of hours!

Ozzie and Mouseteacher>> You both start back on Tuesday, correct? Good luck and have a wonderful year!

I hope everyone else finds this thread!

Happy Sunday everyone!
Debbie

OOPS! Mouseteacher -- sorry about the Debbie mixup. Guess I was typing too fast.

Here is a question for all of you Swan CL level experts -- when and if I finally get to meet Mama T., what do I say to her -- eg, "Mama T. I have read all about you on the internet" Would that be too weird? Do the folks over at the Swan realize the cult like following they have on the internet?

Your thoughts?

Lauren

PS Debbie -- would you believe there is not a pedicure to be had anywhere around here today? Not sure when I will squeeze that in before the trip - might just have to wear gymshoes the entire time.

Lauren~ "Double that...plus a few, and you have our summer '03 sojourn." Let's say...it was longer than anticipated at more than two months...but NEVER truly long enough. If I was still there...I'd be content! We have been home a week this eve, and it seems like only yesterday, we were playing in the WORLD. Next summer, will be more of the same. My family LOVES extended stays...sleeping-in....and LATE check-outs! We have taken those three desires to a whole new level, LOL.

All my cams are Digi, even my view/video cam. DD has a top of the line Sony Cybershot w/audio-video capability (4.0 w/6x zoom), and Sony printer (with pop-up screen to select pic/action). Her duo is amazing. I normally use my Sony Mavica, w/16X zoom & also audio-video capability. Mine uses a 3.5 floppy (I have the cd version as well), and LOVE these. It's as easy as popping it directly from the camera to the computer. No cords, no cables, etc. Even DD's camera is simple to use with Sony...pop in the memory stick, and voila! These work best for me, as I'm not really good with all the lines/cables into the comp...LOL. The Mavica also makes it VERY difficult to accidentally "delete" any photos. You must choose to delete, and then go to a second screen, where you are asked again if you wish to delete? So, it's nearly impossible to delete anything unintentionally using the sony product. It also takes the best ZOOM photos of all my cams.

Whew...7/3, much more manageable! I have a close friend whom has 6 children...very CLOSE in age. She is incredible...and seems to take care of them/everything w/o breaking a sweat. I have one DD, and sometimes it can seem as if I have 6. :p Children...no matter if you have one or 10, require a tremendous amount of attention/work and sacrifice. I'm sure you know this...especially having them all at WDW together! They must have been bouncing off the walls with excitement and endless energy. Surely, kids keep us all YOUNG! :)

KelliR~ "We had a great trip. My photos are sporadic, I missed some events and took too many of others."

LOL...This was ME this summer, too. I have to be more conscientious in the future. I should have taken more at VERO, of the LOBBY...and the exterior, of the pathways and pool, etc. & much more on the SHIP. NEXT summer...I WILL! Glad you liked the pictures. Also, happy to read you enjoyed the PBH. Discovery Cove was GREAT? We may do this next summer, and surprise DD with a day trip to the park/this adventure. We are definitely doing GATORLAND (hehe) next summer, as we finally saw where it was this summer as we visited the New SUPER TARGET (for Starbucks coffee)! No airboats through the swamp though...I'm not THAT adventurous! Please, post some details on the Discovery cove experience, and the other parts of your trip. Thanks, Kell.

#1hockeymom ~ This is exactly what the others at our table stated during dinner. They had been on "other" liners...but never Disney. They were overwhelmed with the entire ship, staff and first class shows & accomodations. They assured us, after you take a DISNEY CRUISE, you will be disappointed on any other cruise ship. Since the Premier cruise line (1992) is the only other ship we have been on (And it was the DISNEY cruise back then), we already know this to be the case (for us). The other ship "paled" in comparison. Even docked at Naussau, folks from the RC ship Explorer stopped to ask us details about the Wonder, (as they gawked and took photos). They were intrigued by the exterior, the classic lines, and of courese, the "allure" as they called it...of the "DISNEY" NAME. Most said it was too expensive for them, but many expressed a strong desire to cruise on Disney in the future. It is definitely pricey...but worth the change.
Key West and the chickens...was priceless. Last summer's Cruise on the Magic (7-night w/first port in KW) is the precise reasoning behind this years visit. What a GREAT we had there!

mouseteacher~...You have been SO blessed to have DS home (commuting) for the past two years of college life. The young Cornell P-Grad student at our table on the Wonder explained how she was able to spend her 4-years of Berkeley commuting 30 minutes every day to her home! Her mom was so fortunate to have enjoyed her daughter at home for those years. She misses her dearly, now she's in Ithaca. 30 minutes away is truly nothing. It's far enough for your DS to feel "distance" and be liberated, but not too far for comfort. What a nice transition. I wish we lived 30 minutes from a desirable location for DD. The closest school she has selected/considered is 5-6 hours from home! I'll have some serious issues when this day finally arrives...LOL.

We don't have to mention how envious we are of your long vacations, do we Lisa? :) I relish your sojourns and all of the family time you have together without outside intrusions! Thank you for sharing them with us!

Lauren>> I find when nothing else will work, drive to the mall for all the essential nail basics! It might be a half hour drive for me, but they are so quick that it evens out... and NO appointment necessary! I either have free time, or I don't, so making appointments are difficult!

ON meeting the best of the best at CL. I admitted to reading about them when I met them! I have to say though, reading about them, and being helped by and talked to with them are so different! I was completely blown away and I thought I knew what to expect after reading these boards! MommaT and Thabo are truly priceless! :)

I am so happy that I finally booked my vacation! Now I have a few months to call back and get us a concierge room when one opens up. Why do I feel the need to book concierge again? See the above paragraph!

Happy Sunday! Have a great Labor Day holiday!
*Sorority wave to all* *That's the closed palm queen wave, right? LOL*
Debbie

Well, DS is settled in - a great suite - common living room / 2 bedrooms w/ 2 per room - 2 bathrooms - 1 contains sink and shower and the other contains toilet and sink. Three windows in the common room and two windows in his bedroom. We met his roommate - seemed fine. DF, you're right about being away enough to be independent and yet close enough to come home. He did come home later in the afternoon to get some coat hangars. :) He was very excited and I'm happy for him. He's at UMassLowell which takes us about 30 minutes to get there from our house.

DH and I just returned from purchasing a Toyota 4 Runner for him (but I'll use it too - he can't have all the fun all the time ;) ). A really great vehicle - he's thrilled and I'm happy for him. I guess this a day when 2 family members have had wishes come true - DH a new SUV and DS dorming.

Debbie~ LOL we all love to live those 2+ months of Lisa's vacations with her through her posts and pics. :D

Could you please direct me to the instructioins for posting photos? I know it is in the old thread but if you could give me a page number it would really help me!

Thanks!

Debbie...It's never my intention to make any of you feel "envious" of our stays in the magic (ever). I truly LOVE reading about the details of all of YOUR trips...as much/more than I enjoy our own visits. Our sojourns were not ALWAYS this long/extended. They began, very innocently and modestly. In fact, our initial "family" stay in 1991 was less than week!

Yet, we immediately deemed this to be much too brief, especially factoring-in our home-base (Cali). It's just TOO far to trek & too costly (transportation) without staying as LONG as we possibly can. So...over the years, as our vacation time has grown...so have our vacations. We are truly blessed to be able to take so much time together in the summer. Yet, there are many other things in our lives for which we are more blessed/thankful to have (Friends, Family, Health...). Vacations are certainly FUN, but they are nothing to envy. Time spent together with loved ones...whether it be at home/away...is time to be treasured. I hope I have not offended anyone with my posts regarding our seemingly infinite trips. I care deeply about each of you. ;)

KelliR...OZZIE is the EXPERT! CALLING OZZIE....!!!

Kelli ~ ozzie taught me but here goes -
I uploaded my pics to imagestation.
Then right click on the pic -
right click on properties.
Your cursor needs to be right on the address.
Rght click on the address so it is highlighted and click select all - then right click again - click on copy, then on okay.

Go to your reply - click on img when the box comes on place cursor right on the blank space - right click - click on paste. then close the box.

Oh, I hope this helps - if not SOS ozzie!

DF, your post are not offending anyone. I certainly can appreciate your good fortune in being able to take the time you can and appreciate your reports in reading and seeing things I may never be able to do. And, it makes perfect sense since you are quite a distance from Fla.

Btw, the pic of the rooster and the hens ---- I think the one crossing the road is on my kitchen table - in ceramic, of course! ;)

kelli.....where are your pictures now? They need to be uploaded into a site such as www.imagestation.com or your website. If you go to imagestation, you can post them, and it is free. Most of us use it.
After that click on the picture in imagestation you want to post, then right click on it. At the very bottom it says 'properties.' Click on properties. Then you will see another box and in it will be a URL address. Highlight it(the whole address, not leaving anything out), then right click again and click on copy. Go to your post in the Dis, then click on IMG. A box will come up that says http://, right click and a little box will come up that says paste. Click on paste. That URL address should be in that box, and it will come into your post as a code. When you are done with your post, click on preview reply to see if it worked! If it didn't, do the whole process again, because it may just be that something in that address wasn't copied. Good luck. If you need more help, just yell.
My picture of baton twirler is so bad you can't even see her....everyone kept moving and the lighting was not good and I couldn't adjust my camera very well under the conditions! Sorry. I may play with the picture before I post it to see if I can help it out a bit.

Hi Dolphin and Swan lovers!

Just popping in to say hello!

Thanks for sharing those photos with us Lisa!

If you're ever in the market to adopt an adult child, I'll volunteer! ;) Only problem is, I'm probably older than you! :o

Sorry, Blondie - she already has a few of us in line ahead of you! LOL ;)

Aw shucks!

Then I'll just have to be a stowaway in one of her suitcases then!
