jgates~Yummm! I LOVE Tuna salad...and am going to make myself one right now for lunch. (Thanks). I have seen these at Tubbi's, and been tempted...but for the same reasons you posted I have declined to purchase/try one. I'll be sure to buy one this coming summer! :)

marymrg...LOL~ I too believed it was a "covert op", with regards to secret designs for the D/S S shirts...etc.! Too funny. It was apparently a "MAN THING", between LOU and DB's DH!!! :p

*Note to LOU: Yes...we BELIEVE you, whatever you SAY!

mouseteacher~I'm with Marym on this one. Your students are a testiment to your dedication and devotion. DD is the result of 10+ years of wonderful Catholic education. I give credit where credit is due. Much of her character and personality is directly related to the teachings and experience of some fabulous educators. You are the company you keep, and she has been BLESSED with some of the finest company. Our children are in school for the better part of their day, for most of their young lives. It is critical they receive the BEST possible education, in the BEST possible environment each of us (as parents) can provide. When I look back, I will forever be filled with pride and satisfaction...just knowing we provided the best foundation possible. Keep up the special work...and know each and every day~YOU ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE! XO

Always...

<i>"Unseasonably cold air combined with a northwest wind between 15 and 20 mph could bring temperatures down to the upper 20s or lower 30s after midnight.

Local residents may also see scattered snow showers with accumulations of less than 1 inch. " </i>

ACK! What has the world come to? *lol* I will admit that we usually get snow before Halloween, and usually before Detroit does... but, we're all in for it tonight!

Just thought I'd entertain those in warmer climates!

:o Why, thank you so much, mary and DF. Your sentiments are much appreciated. I have a great regard for the sacrifices that our parents make to send their children to our Catholic school and for our teachers who sacrifice to remain teaching in a Catholic school. I have never regretted devoting my career to Catholic education and still love working with some wonderful parents, students and faculty/staff.

I must say this - that I respect public education, also. My DSs attended public schools. Youngest DS is on an IEP and I must give credit to the fine teachers he has had through the years that have helped him rise above his learning disability. Today, he is a confident, successful learner in his senior year.

Thankfully, for many families (sadly not all) there is a choice in education.

On Topic: I hope Disbug got her balcony upgrade.

I forgot my "on topic"!

On topic>> It never snows at the Swan/Dolphin! I hope that Disbug and Madge have met up over some pastries, fruit and coffee in the club lounge!

Does anyone know if the policy is still in effect by which, if the first night of a ressie falls under a discounted rate, the remainder of the nights will also be at that rate? My DreamsRes agent doesn't seem to think so, but I know this is how it used to be done. Gotta double check! Thanks!! :)

Hmmm... I'm not sure. I have read some posters were able to get the teacher's rate for only a number of successive days of their stay but not all. So, perhaps you might not be able to get the special rate for an entire stay if it isn't offered. However, I am not positive.

:scratchin I'm not much help, I guess.

I know that is Disney's policy, so if you booked the S/D at the higher Disney rate you would be able to do this (save the money and book away from Disney!). I am not sure about the S/D's policy. Please let us know what you find out!

Hope Madge and disbug are having a great time.
Haven't posted much, sorry. I am going after National Board Certification and wondering if I have bitten off more than I can chew! Could sure use a trip to the S/D!!!
Ok, Lou and DF, how do you get that waving smiley face? Oops, I just realized they have added more to our selection! Cool.
::MickeyMo :moped: :rotfl: :teacher: These are soooo fun!
Mouseteacher...read your post about your younger ds wanting to do sports writing or broadcasting. That's what my ds is doing. He is in his last year at Mizzou and loves it. He is on the football beat and travels with the team. Mizzou has their students do a community newspaper. So he also gets to cover the Rams and the Chiefs. He is so excited to be doing a Monday night game between the Chiefs and the Broncos. You have Syracuse out there near you and it is also a very good journalism school. Keep me posted! Won't be that long before you have to start thinking about college for him!

on topic....I got 1/2 of my resort fee waived this summer. Still not sure what the deal is with that! And I am not sure about the discounted rates at the S/D either. I think that only the dates that are discounted will actually be discounted. You can see them on Glo's thread at the top of the resort thread.

Just checking in to say hello to everyone :)

We had another Ard meeting for Rachel yesterday. We discussed her time off needed to travel at spring break. They all agreed that it was fine. They have suggested we just un-roll her for that extra week. Which means I have to un-roll the other 2 as well. They said it does not hurt the schools performance rating this way. So we are set, this was my last big hurdle to get over. So WDW here we come :)

Have a great night all

::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo "see you real soon" well its not real soon, but it's going to have to be soon enough :)

marymg all the thanksgiving talk makes me think I want to go sooner....I'd rather spend Thanksgiving there then with dh's family...

mattiekCongrats on the Plat...It is something I can only dream of becoming...

Mouseteacher Glad your speech went well....

Loubon had me wondering...;) ;)

disfanrn SNOW!!!eeekkkk finally cold today 40's...my son just said it smells like snow...I certainly hope not...

OzziewagsWOW!! you must be very busy studing...I don't think I could go back an doing any more schooling...Graduated from college and that's it.....

HI everyone- it is a very chilly 37 degrees here, but thankfully no snow yet in my neighborhood, just frosty rooftops! It does make going to WDW that much more fun knowing it will be warm when we get there!

Hockeymom- thanks for the gevalia! sending some warm spiced cider your way! We went to Coon Creek orchard on Sunday and picked apples- they had a variety called honeycrisp-it was delicious!

Goofball- your DU agent is correct, only those dates discounted are given at that rate. My neighbors, whom I booked a room for under my nurse discount, had to pay close to rack rate for 1 of the nights.

DF- how are you feeling? Make sure you are getting enough rest and optimizing your nutrition so you don't become vulnerable to illness in times of stress!

MOMpoppins- "un roll"? what does that mean? I have the feeling my DD's teachers are less than thrilled that we are pulling her out of school. I asked for work to be sent home in advance and so far nothing, I was hoping to do some ahead of time so we didn't have to do it there. The teacher said it was difficult to tell what they would be on that far in advance ( 2 weeks) I thought teachers made lesson plans??? Mouseteacher, any thoughts?
Anyhow, we will just go with the flow, and get it all done somehow!

Please wish us luck, we are calling starwoods tomorrow to use points to try to upgrade to CL, last time we couldn't till we got to the hotel and then they charged us 1500/nite! I am hoping we can do it ahead this time!!!!

Thanks for all your Tubbi's suggestions, I can't wait to try them out!

Going to pack, I work the next 2 nights and want to be unstressed before we go!

Happy Thursday everyone!

disfanRN - please let me know how it goes when you call for the upgrade to CL. I hope to do the same thing when we go in February. I will probably have just enough points by then to upgrade to CL but only if it is 1000 points per night! (I just got my Amex last week) Good luck!! :goodvibes

DF – happy to hear your family came out of that very scary incident OK; I hope your daughter has no after effects like a hesitancy to drive now. You said she felt better with each retelling of the story, and I imagine posting it here had a similar benefit for you, especially with the support from the wonderful people here.

Lou - continued great job on the yearbook. It really adds to the community spirit on the boards. By the way 005rt321, 005er456, and 005ty951.

(Which means absolutely nothing, but I wanted to sound cool too!)

Ozzie – yes, the Cubs actually came through, and someone else (Houston) choked this time; and we’re actually 1-1 against Atlanta! Lauren – my “punishment” for doubting them is that I didn’t sit back and enjoy the victories – I kept waiting for something bad to happen. No matter what happens now, I won’t be disappointed; they have turned a significant corner.

Now the Bears, on the other hand…
The stadium is great on the inside (saw it Saturday for an open house for the season ticket holders, but missed the game due to my Boston trip.) My oldest went to the game and said they have a lot of crowd-flow problems to work out, which will be easier to fix than the on the field problems.

Mouseteacher – Boston was great, but I wish I had more time to see the city again. Actually, without the family it wouldn’t have been the same anyway. I did get a chance to walk a bit of the freedom trail the last day with a coworker, and we ended up at the replica Cheers for a couple of Sam Adams Boston Lagers and watched the Twins beat the Yankees (dreaming of a Cubs – Red Sox series!)

By the way, the dinner cruise was on the Odyssey – very nice and the weather was warm enough to be able to go outside and see the skyline. And at dinner by coincidence there was a woman at the table who was quite a Disney fan. She is going in late October (staying offsite) for her daughter’s Tae Kwan Do competition at Wide World of Sports. They’ll be there for MNSSHP. They’ve been to WDW many times – once three times in a single year and often buy APs . We talked a lot about hotels (she loves both the Swan and Dolphin, but tries to stay at a different resort each time they go, so she has no regular). We also talked about my recent trip and she asked about Mission Space (which we didn’t go on). The Disney conversation ended (I started to think that others at the table thought it a bit strange that two people our age had such an enthusiasm for WDW) and I didn’t get a chance to ask if she read or wrote on these boards, which I suspect she does. And maybe she’s lurking on this thread or even contributing. There are Disney fans everywhere.

OK – time for an on-topic post. Actually, a question on CL ethics. Assuming our February trip goes through (some doubt now, but still likely), we will be getting three rooms for 9 people. Yet we only have enough points to upgrade two of those rooms to CL (assuming there is availability). We’d have 7 in the two CL rooms and two in the other. Since the rooms technically hold 5 people each – and since with the three rooms we’ll be paying more than if we just got two CL rooms – would it be inappropriate for everyone to use the CL lounge as though we were all in the two CL rooms? I’m curious as to what the Sigma Delta sisters (and honorary brothers and others) think about this. Thanks.

Bill

disFanRN~ ~ Hmm... when I was teaching I did plan a full week in advance (I was a 2nd grade teacher). However, most times I overplanned and had to carry plans into the following week. Thus, it is sometimes hard to accurately predict what you will accomplish. With that said, certainly some work can be given in advance depending on the policy of the school regarding taking vacations during school time.

ww52~ ::MickeyMo I know the feeling when you can engage someone in a conversation about Disney and they, too, love the topic! I'm sure it sounds strange to nonDisney lovers ears. But, it is my favorite topic of conversation.

I'm glad your brief business trip to Boston was enjoyable. Btw, Mission Space is NOT my cup of tea -- sounds claustrophobic and I avoid those attractions! :worried:

Re: your on topic question - I'm not sure how to answer. You sign in at the desk by giving your room # and name. I believe the CM knows how many are registered in a particular room and has the respective names... that is a guess on my part. I have seen the CM on the computer - could they be checking? could they be putting in stats on the use of the CL room? Not sure.

Disfanrn ~ I may have you confused .... sorry :) They want me to take all 3 of my children off the school roll for the extra week we are taking off. We are taking the week before spring break off as well. I will go up to the school and sign papers to get them off the school roll. When we return I will have to go sign papers and put them back on the school roll. It does sound a bit confusing, but this is how my school has asked me to handle it. My daughters deaf education teacher was going to put it in writing in my daughters "Ard" papers to give her the time off. The school did not want to be penalized for the absences of our 3 girls. So without confusing you more..... that is what I am doing :)

On topic ~ Bill, I am not sure about the question about club level maybe someone else can help you. I have often wondered the same question myself.

I am finally below the 150 countdown mark.... I hope Madge and Disbug are having a great time ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

DD update It's begun again...dd was sent home today cause she was sick....but yesterday Oct 1 I switched her back to our regular DR. ( I had switched her the the damn group in june...cause she felt like she wanted a female DR) so, today called the old dr to see if they would see her...they agreed but wanted her records. I called the other practice and was told they need a written request, $10 and 4 weeks....EXCUSE ME...they want to treat her today what good is getting her records (all of 5 pages...we have only seen then since this stupid stuff began. I asked to speak to a the office manger or someboydy else....she says get me the written request we will see...I decided to put zurg on the case....he argues with them and faxes them a request, pays the $10 by cc and request that they send report to DR. Then current Dr office calls to request records they said they would try....they call again...they say maybe...third call....the pit bull at the good DR says they were to send them now or they need to get a DR on the phone right then to speak with the new (actually our old) DR...they decide to fax then...We get to the dr....checks out the regular stuff and says how is her medication doing...she takes zoloft regularly...dr says maybe her doseage is too high and we should cut back for a week and see how physically she feels....all her symptoms are related to the medication...if she doesn't get better in the next week or gets worse again..she will have to have a thyroid test.....so wish us luck again....

TIA...ZW

zurgs- sorry you are going around in circles!!! It has to be frustrating. Just sit back - relax and pretend the waterfall in the S/D pool is flowing in front of you.......my favorite spots are behind the waterfall in the shade!

Hey! It's my 4th anniversary!!!! I can't believe it has been that long!

Happy Anniversary, jgates! :wave2:

zwife~ How frustrating - I hate red tape! I will keep the P and PD coming your way. Good suggestion from jgates on thinking of the grotto waterfall -- behind the grotto pool waterfall is one of my fav spots, too. :goodvibes
