I just watched Bowling for Columbine, which hit way too close to home and has me very upset with myself on some issues, yet proud on others. You see, It shows every part of my life, where I teach, to where I live. *if you have seen it, you will understand*. I come here and read lovingthemouse's post and Bobump's post and I am once again enlightened and know my purpose. I read Df's post and am teary eyed again, but know my purpose and my beliefs. Darn it, I am not sure what my point is... but.. as DF said.. God bless every one of us. Thank you, everyone on this thread, for being who you are!

To the new people on this thread, WELCOME! This is a great group of people here and all are welcomed into our "community"! Grab a cup of coffee, bite into a chocolate croissant, and join in the chat! Make sure to pull up your chair for a front row seat! All are welcomed into the circle!

:( Oh, DF, dear friend, my heart is still in my throat from reading the post. I knew you were leading up to something horrible as I read along. How stupid was the driver - could he not have known something was amiss?! Yes, indeed, the angels God sends to watch over us was working for you and your family. I can understand how your DH felt by saying he aged another 30-40 years. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured. I know all of you will recover being in the warmth and love of your family - supporting one another cocooned in the love of family.

As ozzie said, we, who have teens driving, - our worries go beyond their abilities, I worry more about other drivers harming our precious children.

#1HM ~ I grab a buttery croissant - my fav from the Lobby Lounge at the Swan and the CL at the Dolphin. I buy DH and me some on Sunday mornings to remind us of our S/D stays. :)

kaycee ~ thanks for the kind words. :)

DF ~ Glad to hear you must have had this with you.....

............are among us much more than we all know.

I absolutely know, without a doubt, that God knows your fate and he allowed you to be aware of this impending situation. Bless His Holy Name that your lives were spared. Praise God for He alone will "bring you to it and bring you through it"!

Lisa, I wish you and your family comfort and peace as you continue to count your blessings and enjoy a newfound appreciation of each other. Never take for granted what God alone gives to each of us. Sadly, I too have been there and personally know how traumatic these kind of circumstances can be.

Peace...........

I read your post with my heart in my throat. I, too, feel God and/or your Guardian Angel were watching over you and your family. I also think that you were doing what you always do ... being extremely aware of your surroundings/situation ... and thinking ahead at all times. That is what helps to make you such a wonderful mom, wife, caretaker, planner. :D

It is so scary when our kids take another step forward (which essentially is a step away from us! (their parents). But I can tell you are confident in the job you did with raising your DD ... and even though it hurts to see them grow up and move away ... you must be so proud in how she handled the situation. It may just be all she needs to be the permanent reminder to always drive carefully and be aware of what other drivers are doing. It may be a lesson that will serve her for many years of safe driving to come!

I am so glad you and your family are safe! Thank God!:)

On topic ... I will second your warning about watching your speed limit in Orlando & WDW. While I was there in August it was on the TV news and in the newspaper about all of the "speed traps". At one intersection (it was very near 535 & 536) there were over 500 tickets given in one day!!! Wow! It is worth it to be safe and leave early and take your time ... not worrying about rushing. This is a grea time to employ DF99's policy about just enjoying everything as it happens. (The elevator button pushing story comes to mind;) ).

Madge & Disbug ... have a great time!:D

Wow - DF! So glad that you are all ok and that you were guided to safety. I've had so many reminders lately about how fragile life is. As we all travel along the road of life (both figuratively and literally), it is stunning to me that at times, just mere seconds are all that stands between a tragedy and ourselves.

We had a similar close call on the day we returned from WDW. Dh picked us up from the airport and then we dropped him off at work on our way home. As we merged onto the highway, we happened upon a scene of cars swerving and slamming on breaks, etc. (our near miss involved pine trees though- not a yacht) My heart was in my throat.

Were you able to sleep last night? The adrenaline and "what ifs" would've kept me up all night. Hugs to you!

DF:

So glad you and all yours were not injured in the accident! Having had our car totalled out a few months ago, I can appreciate how jangled your nerves might be at this point...we are still dealing with lingering problems from then--insurance, chronic pain, etc.--but are very thankful it wasn't worse. I am sure it will make your DD a better driver in the long run, and will give her confidence to deal with any future problems, as you were there to show her what to do in emergencies!

On the upside, having exerienced such a catastrophe, TestTrack really isn't too scary a ride...

DF -- Wow. Glad you and yours are all alright. Deep sigh of relief. So glad you had a happy ending to post.

Lisa ~ I am so glad you and your family are all safe and sound. I read your post hoping and praying for a happy ending..... My DH on the other hand went all the way to the end and said "she's ok" whew, I was happy to hear it. I hope your weekend went ok and you are feeling better. DH and I were in a terrible accident in 1993 with DD Ashley only 3 at the time. I had the cruise control on while appraching a "hill" in Colorado. When I was approaching I went to turn it off and it was stuck, nothing worked to slow us down. We went off the side and hit in the bottom of the gully. I thought ok, then the car flipped over. DH was unconcious in the back(not injured) and I knocked the window out and pulled him out, while Ashley, with not a scratch on her hung upside down in her car seat. I only had a cut on my head that required stitches.(the roof smashed on my head) We were very lucky, and knew God and his angels were watching over us that day. Again, I am glad God's angels were with you and your family today. Reminds us again how quickly our lives can be changed.

On topic ~ We enjoyed going by club level during the late evening offering and picking up some hot cocoa and cookies. Oh the cookies are soooooo good :)

BTW ~ Getting this for the smaller DD for Christmas, Made me think of your DD, Lisa. My girls love the power wheels, we have the cruising tunes jeep, silverado truck, pink corvette, and the little 4 wheeler. They have so much fun with them, they are worth the money spent.

DF- SO happy your guardian angels were watching out for you all that day, thanks and praise to God.

Zurgswife- how is your DD?

We are getting excited here!! I am shopping today for new tennis shoes to be comfy in the World.

on topic- has anyone used either Club Dolphin or fairy godmothers for child care?

Happy Monday everyone!

Hello all posting from att public web phone. Took me 4 minutes to post this much. Having a lot of fun! It is rainy/cloudy today. Room wave running out of seconds! Love to all!

DF- So glad that you and your family came through it all unscathed. A little divine intervention can go a long way!

Disbug -- Thanks for taking the time to post. Having a crazy, crazy day at the office and your post made me smile. (Feel better knowing someone is out there having fun). Best wishes for a wonderful trip. Cannot wait to hear all of the details.

Lauren

DD Update We are finally doing better...still have fatigue...and an occasional headache but nothing like the last few weeks...she has manged to go to school and nap in the afternoon for a little bit....I'm starting to feel we are on the way to recover....thanks everybody for all your thoughts and well wishes...

Loubon...
Yes you are! Page 104 (you're not keeping up with the program!)
Sorry..thanks for showing me where...

Caroline glad to here from you..

Bobump...that is exactly our plan...he is a very smart boy...he has been tested twice Psych-Ed test...both times the psycharitrist said his IQ is in the above average range and his reading is way below normal...5th grade and reading on a 2nd grade....but these same gentlemen also said that we shouldn't let is problems now deter him from attenting college....the last guy said that when it comes time for my son to take SAT's that he would sign the required papers so they would be untimed...the kid is in 5th grade...this guy is really looking ahead...but it is a good thing to know when the time comes...

DF I was terrified reading your story...hoping that the next line would say and we made it through safely...I'm glad you did...hope your DD wasn't too tramatized by the event....what a terrrible experience for all of you...

The package has arrived...can't wait until tomorrow morning...heck I might shower again this evening...:):):)

Kaycee I'm a new regualar poster here also...these people are the bomb..glad to met you

Disbug Glad you were able to stop by...have a great trip..

disFanRN~ I can't help with your question regarding childcare -- my DSs are way beyond the child care years. Hopefully, someone else can answer.

zurgswife~ really glad your DD is doing well - fatigue / headaches sounds like the tail end of her recuperation phase.

Disbug~ your post from MGM made me smile --- I know you won't see this until you are home but want you to know how nice of you to think of us and post when you could. :D

My DS has the Kawasaki Ninja. I have to say that is one well made item. It takes a lot of abuse and keeps on going. He was a toy tester for Fisher Price a few years back and I know he tested out some prototypes but he was sworn to secrecy! :D It was probably for the toddler line because he was only 2/3 then.

Zurgswife - glad your dd is feeling better.

*waving back to Disbug* I can just feel the fun you're having through the internet!

My DS had one of the four wheelers, I can't remember which one, but it was great practice for his future NOW years driving a real quad! We have since given it to another family and I know it is still going strong! On the "real" quad, he's not allowed to go alone on our property up north, yet, but he does tag along with DH on his own quad as they survey the "land".

Glad your DD is going better, Zurg'swife! I know how tough it is to have a sick child and not have any answers.

DF, your story still frightens me as I reread it. I am so glad that everyone was safe and nothing happened!

At our DD's HS they are taking more action on people speeding through the parking lot due to some more pushing by parents *yes, I resemble this statement* You'd have thought with the accident two years ago with a speeding car/pedestrian the students would have slowed down. Unfortunately some of them haven't. The girl that was hit two years ago was a rising tennis star, and is now in a wheel chair. I thank God that my daughter was fine, and no one was hurt, in the accident a week ago.

Disfanrn>>We either didn't get to go out or took them with us in the early years. Now we have a built in babysitter! :) I hope you find your answers! I'll wave at Bishop airport on my drive to work in the early morning as you fly out!

I hope everyone is having a great week!
Debbie

#1HM~ I'm so glad all was fine for your DD. too.
My school's property and parking lot is quite large and it connects a side street through our property to a main street on the other side. We have a gate that stops the traffic from using it as a pass through during the school day since the children are outside for recess and gym classes. Just recently, I was sitting at my desk and could see out the window which overlooks the parking lot. Some idiot drives through over some decorative rocks onto the grass around the gate, still driving on the lawn all the way up to the main street! We tried to get his license # but weren't fast enough. Thank goodness the children weren't out playing at the time. I can only shake my head at the stupidity of some people putting children's lives in danger.

DF- Whew!!! I have quickly breezed thru several pages as I was gone from Fri to last nite. But I read yours slowly!!!! Thank goodness you all came through without a scratch!!!

Hello to all - hopefully more tomorrow nite.

Zurg - no mail unless I deleted in error!

DF, I am so glad to hear that you and your family are okay. What a terrifying experience! Saturday evening I was looking forward to reading about your trip to pick up the new car, so I was surprised when we didn't hear from you. It is so unfortunate that a reckless driver ruined what should have been a very happy day. I still hope to see pictures of "the bug" when you have time.

Zurgswife, I am also glad to hear that your DD is feeling better. Keep us posted about her progress.
