Mouseteacher - quick response! Thanks for the suggestions. We are now thinking of going over to Boma -- what do you think? We would have to take a bus to AK and then a bus to AKL I guess. I am thinking we could get there by 6, have dinner and then take a bus to EPCOT for the fireworks.

Too many buses? Calling to see if there is an open ressie right now.

Thanks.

Lauren

Update on that last post -- got 640 ressies. Going to take the bus to the AKL from EPCOT. We should be good and hungry by the time we get there. Hope this is a good dinner!

2. Do you feel that the Q & C vouchers are worthwhile, since most of the restaurants in the Boardwalk area do not accept them? (I know that Beaches and Cream does, and it looks like a good deal) Would we have to "run all over WDW" finding places to eat just to save a few dollars? Thanks!!

I buy a few vouchers per trip...we definitely make good use of them at Beaches and Cream. I like to give DS one (he's 13) so he can order his own food without dealing with cash. I'm not saving any money, but it's better than handing him cash :)

I prefer the breakfast vouchers. For our family, they do provide a bit of savings...

MOI, AUSSI!! I LOVE the heat, humidity...and everything which comes with it (Storms...etc.). It truly signifies SUMMER for me.

DITTO to all the restaurant tips you posted for Lauren. You know, I LOVE the B. Derby, Teppanyaki, Y. Steakhouse and the CALI GRILL! I also LOVE Cinderella's Royal Table in the castle (we received lovely champagne flutes from KRISZ for our anniversary there) . BOMA's is wonderful (ate there this past summer), you should have a FAB TIME. ladyjayhawk ~ We used a crib for DD2 at the Swan and it was a real crib. I had brought my own bedding, but when it arrived looking so pristine, with lovely bedding (including a fringed white blanket)... I used theirs. I thought it was very clean. There is no charge for the crib. Just make sure to reserve it ahead of time for availability.

we had a crib at the Dolphin last fall. It was nice, but doesn't sound quite as nice as the one Disbug's family got.

I am going to call in a couple of weeks and see if the Dolpin has the "Heavenly Crib" and make sure it is noted on our reservation that we would like a crib....

Thanks for the crib link, DF...good reading :) I haven't read about the "Heavenly Shower" yet, off to do that now :)

Lauren~ I agree with DF post on the wonderful memories you are making for your mom. How special that you and your sister are able to share this trip with her. You are giving her the gift of good times, laughter, and family. It is especially heart-warming to read your posts since we know the story behind the story. :D

Boma - sounds like a great plan. We checked out Boma when we visited the AKL and I placed it on my "to do" list for a future trip.

DF ~ "cool' souvies. Especially like the the glass from Cindy's. As you know, too, my all time fav and repeat visit every trip is the Cali Grille!

Reading the posts... very nice all! Souvenirs help remind us of those wonderful days in the "world"! I have to admit I am a bit of a pin collector. I love the different colors and characters. Now that I have an italian charm bracelet, that may become a whole new "addiction"! I am not one of those people who is hard to "buy" for! :p

On topic, on topic.. let's see? The $99 Labor Day special at the S/D is good until September 9th! I also second the AKL BOMA's. We ate there this past July and it was awesome!

Be right back! DD9 is in Bubble bath and wants a head scrub. DD2 is wanting a cuddle!

I already have reservations for March with AP rate (don't have an AP-only buying to get rate). I just receive my 2004 Entertainment book. Do the Entertainment rates compare with the AP rates?

Saturday Night, Live from the Swan.

Hello all.

Dinner at Boma's was lots of fun. The only problem is that we wanted to taste everything and all of those tastes ended up with us being extremely full. I was actually thankful that we had to push the wheel chair through EPCOT after dinner so that I could get rid of that "Oh no, I think I am going to explode feeling." Back to Boma, loved the variety and really loved the ribs that they were serving as well as the soups -- seafood soup and curry chicken were my favorites. Desserts were outstanding, but by the time we got to dessert, it was difficult to fit them in (don't worry, somehow we managed). After dinner, we bussed back to EPCOT and power walked to America to the handicapped seating. On that note, this seating area is great because you get a bench to sit on without staking out a spot an hour before the show. It is, however, an obstructed view. The trees get in the way of some of the up high fireworks and the torch stand gets in the way of the globe a bit. Mind you, I am not complaining, just wanted to share that it wasn't the mecca that it sometimes is built up to be. Walked back to the Swan at a pretty good pace and I think we are in for the night.

Today we got on the somewhat morbid topic of last things -- we all realize that mom is not going to share another birthday with us. To help compensate, we celebrated her "birthday" at Boma tonight. Honestly, it made us sort of giddy to do that. Then DS proclaimed "And its my birthday tomorrow" OK, I told her, we can do that. She has, however, insisted that tomorrow is also my "birthday". This, of course, would be impossible as I am pretty sure that my birthday is in April and hers is in Feb. DS also insists that for tomorrow we are officially fraternal twins, which is somewhat believable because we are only two years apart and look alike in a lot of ways. PLEASE DO NOT FLAME ME FOR OUR INTENDED DECEIT. When you are travelling around your most favorite place in the world knowing that you will never share it with your most favorite person again, it can get a bit depressing. In some weird way, having a faux birthday is a really fun idea that has made the mood of our trip kind of wacky and silly and I am pretty confident that no one will be hurt by our little white lie. An even more fun part of this is that I get to celebrate my 35th birthday again (which is a little tricky as I am 37)

So tomorrow, DS, Mom and me will head off for the AK and spend the morning seeing the animals, etc. DS has never ridden Dinosaur and I have never seen the Tarzan show so will fit those two things in. The afternoon is unplanned, but we may go to the Dolphin Fountain and order that $11 seven scoop immense icecream concoction and share it.

No plans at all yet for Monday -- my DS and mom will not have any pass days left and we don't leave for the airport until 4. Hoping that we will get pool weather and can spend part of our day hanging out in the sun. Definitely need to do some shopping to get gifts for the kids and husbands we left behind.

Anyway, thanks for reading my reports and being so supportive. Have to go to sleep now so that I can wake up looking a vibrant 35!

Goodnight.

Lauren

Lauren,
We are all so happy that the three of you are having a fabulous time at disney. We love reading your posts and living the trip with you. Thanks for sharing. Hugs to all of you. (Happy Birthday)!!!
My family loved Boma's as well. Zebra Domes were incredible. We liked it better than Jiko's. Had a not so great experience there.

Doris....not sure about the difference in rates, but my guess would be the AP rate. S/D has had many special rates recently. Keep checking their website and/or calling the hotel directly.

LOL, Disbug...That's what I was doing ALL DAY! I've been "playing with pins"...FINALLY, removing them from the Lanyards and placing them in Pin Albums, backpacks and pin-bags (All Disney and Specifically designed for this purpose). I do NOT want to even post HOW MANY pins I have accumulated over the past "5" years of Collecting. My thumb nail is sore from removing the backings on each one. I am a BONAFIDE PIN ADDICT (KIMMAR is TOO!). I even purchased more than 100 pins on Castaway Cay this past summer...just to bring with us NEXT YEAR for Trading.

dorisdvu~Yes...the "ent. rate and the AP rate" are the same (50% off the rack rate) discount. Both resorts offer the rates. Call and change the ressie from the AP to the ENT. Rate. It should not change the $$. ;)

joshua4 ~ :teeth: The SAME thing happened to us at Boma's, as it is NOT your usual buffet! The FOOD is incredible...and the desire to merely "TASTE" everything is overwhelming. The desserts are especially tempting (So...next visit I'm eating these FIRST!). Ozzie mentioned my FAVORITE....the ZEBRA DOMES (filled with chocolate mousse). They are an undeniable INDULGENCE!

Flame you, Lauren? My dear, are you serious? HERE...on this thread...among your SISTERS?
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY" Wishes are definitely in order! Your detailed post, including the topic which brought about all the "Birthday" celebrations, truly touched my heart. You two are ANGELS for all the love, devotion and memories you are making/sharing together with your sweet mom. 35th? Make it a good...solid"30"! (Or...you could try 29 and counting, counting, counting...as I've been doing for some time now~LOL). In a way, you are blessed to spend this precious time with your mother. Some people leave this earth without notice, or having the chance to say goodbye or I LOVE YOU to the family/friends they leave behind. You are in my thoughts...each day.

TARZAN ROCKS is a great show. I ride the Dinosaur ride each summer, as my DD & DH LOVE it. Yet...I feel it's a bit of what I call a "Liver-Ripper". Hang-on, and you'll see what I mean. It's built on the same basis as the Indiana Jones ride (which preceeded it) in Disneyland. I feel the same way about that ride too! I swear, on some of those corners and turns, I lose a vital organ...or two. :p

Now...the ICE CREAM sundae is something we shared last summer! It's a MUST, especially with all your Birthday's so close together. That ice cream is all HOME~MADE, and the best anywhere. Have fun with that adventure.

The pool~time on the final day sounds relaxing. I seem to savve most of my shopping for the final few days as well. I love the little shop at the BW (with all the souvies, groceries, etc.). They have a great array of items, and all so conveniently located. I hope you continue to have a wonderful time together. Thanks again, for your informative posts.

Currently...DD is at the Luau Dance this eve with some friends. It's an annual event, and they were all fashioned in Tropical wear. She even wore the little purse she bought in the straw market in Naussau, and the lai from the Poly Luau!

Yesterday, I accompanied her as she selected her class ring at Jostens Jewelers. It is white gold, with her August Peridot birthstone in the center. On one side she selected her name centered above her grad year with genuine diamonds in the zero's (2005). On the other side, she selected her school crest and team name. She also selected a protected emblem under the stone, and her full name engraved on the inside. Her school name will grace the edge of the stone, with two crosses (Catholic school) on either side. She was literally on cloud NINE when we walked out of the store together. She will receive it next month at a special school Mass dedication, where the importance of her role as an upper classman (mentoring the younger students and setting positive examples) will be highlighted. The ring will be blessed by the Priest, before being placed on her finger.

I had no idea how very important this rite of passage was to her, until we left the store. She began to cry a little in the parking lot, (making me struggle to maintain composure) as she hugged me. She looked at me and said, "Thank you, mom. For always being there for me. For all the things you have done for me over the years, and for everything you'll do in the future. I want you to know I appreciate both you and dad more than anything. Can you believe it? I'm getting my CLASS RING! I'll be heading for college in less than two years. I have worked so hard for this moment. I'll remember this day for the rest of my life."

She smiled, took the keys from my hand and jumped into the driver's seat. I quietly looked to the setting sunshine...smiled, and thanked God once again for my daughter. Moments like this, make every bit of parenting worth while. The good...the bad...ALL OF IT. They also bring me rocketing back to my own teen years, and of all the moments like this I shared with my own mom. Only then, it seems, do I truly appreciate the tremendous impact and value of her role in my life. I went home, and took my own H.S. class ring carefully from my Jewelery box. DD placed it on her finger, and admired it...longingly. It was like seeing myself...in her. I recalled doing the same thing, when I first placed it on my finger. Sure, I love my U. ring too...but there is something "special" about the simplicity of that little "High School" ring.

Time for some Tea...and a few moments to reflect. Hope all of you are enjoying LIFE...and the weekend.

*My thoughts and prayers are with the family/loved ones of 22 Year old Marcello Torres from Gardena, California. Marcello was fatally injured in the accident at Disneyland, while riding Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

dreamflight~ What a wonderful post from last night. I agree that pin collecting can be quite "the thing"! I also have the lanyards, vest, and WDW book (only one book though and it was supposed to be for DD9!) However, since she only has one lanyard, I think it's safe to "borrow" for now!

Lauren~ What a great post from yesterday after Boma's and Illuminations. You and your sister got me choked up after reading the part about your last visit to WDW with your most favorite person! Oh my! I have never thought about that. You must be a dear to go to such lengths to show your love and devotion to one so loved! (Sometimes a simple thank you, is NOT enough....) I hope your stay is one of unimagined Magic and a safe trip back to you all! (PS see separate post for you!)

#1hockeymom~ Okay, now that you have it... where are you gonna put it! LOL! (RE your Mickey hockey player clippie!)
PS You are Welcome! I try to keep an eye out for my sisters!

I will post again later about other things, this is getting long so let me go get another cup of java and be back!

PSS, I almost missed the end of dreamflight's post about the young man killed on BTMRR at DL. SOOOO SAD! Has any word come out about the cause? It is unbelievable, because of the absolutely almost 100% safety record that Disney holds. God comfort him and his family...

HAPPY un-35th!

Lauren~ I, too, wish you a very, merry unBirthday ! It must be so nice to be in such a magical place to let go of thoughts of the future and immerse yourselves in the spirit of today and the time-numbing environment of Walt Disney World. Enjoy celebrating all birthdays together. :D

DF~ Your thoughts about DD were so wonderful - our cherubs do grow up so fast that we must cherish each moment. I am told though that they do come back to the fold particularly when they have children of their own. ;)

 Grandmother!!! not ready for that just yet!

Happy UnBirthday to Lauren and her sister! I think that is the most heartwarming idea I have heard in a long time! I hope you have/had a lovely time! I love reading about your adventures with your mother and sister!

I miss everyone here! I know, I know.... this is only a computer, but I feel like I really know some of you and EVERYONE here is so wonderful! My computer is still nonworking, and as our Saturday was way too filled I never had the chance to recheck the disboards on the crowded lone working computer!

My Saturday.... long drive to hockey, followed by two hours of ice time which was good, since ds needed to somehow drop 3 pounds in order to play in the football game later in the day. Had I known he was over the weight limit, I would have done something sooner! He really wanted to play, so we attempted to help him. I honestly don't believe in this weight limit thing as he is TALL and big boned, not fat! Even if he was, we're talking ten year olds here! Three kids didn't get to play and I felt so bad for them! We drove back to our town, then he got weighed with the team. He was 1/2 a pound over and couldn't play. DH ran with him for a half hour and BINGO he was in! I felt so bad for him! He wanted to play so badly, had to strip down in order to weigh the right amount. This just isn't right! He did play, and he had a blast! We lost the game, but the team played well as a team.

We had three other hockey kids with us at the football game that we had hauled back home with us, so then we all walked downtown *the entire three GASP! LOL* blocks* to the Carry Nation carnival. They had tons of fun, while DH and I were more totally exhausted! I don't know how ds kept on going since his day was so full! I felt like I had done the two hours of hockey, the running, and the football game, by the end of the day!

From 11-2am it was a Mighty Ducks marathon in our family room. I think they fell asleep sometime after three, but when I was up at 8 this morning I had a hockey game going on in my driveway. Disbug, I have NO IDEA how you did your sleepover last night! Much power to you! DDs sleepovers were much more calm and makeup/hair related! These boys just keep on going!

On topic *maybe* Those CRT flutes are awesome! What a nice remberance of your anniversary dinner! Are there tricks to getting a table for dinner in order to see the fireworks from the inside of the castle? I don't know if you and your husband did this, but I have heard others say it was a lovely experience.

On topic for real! The tiramisu at Palios has a slight twist to it, and it is delicious! I wish I could remember the flavors; I just remember how great it was! The creme brule is of the mocha variety and for the coffee lover it would be a great choice. If you don't love the taste of coffee, you might want to make a different selection for dessert! (We split both of these desserts and found them both fantastic!)

Disbug>> I am so glad you posted Mickey playing hockey right here! I will save it when I am on my computer again, then figure out how to add it to my signature w/o going over the limit! Thank you again!

Have a lovely Sunday, sorority sisters and honorary brothers!
Debbie

 Hi, Debbie. I feel the same way about all of us here living in my computer. ;) :) You are such wonderful people to share so much of our Disney love and our "real" lives.

Well, off to watch sports with DH and DS. We are in such a dilemma here - Sox and Pats on at the same time. Pats opening game and Sox about to sweep the Yankees (we pray)! I guess we will be doing a lot of channel flipping.

TTFN :)

Debbie,
Just a thought for your computer troubles. Try going to the MS website and getting the patch that fixes that worm. Is it possible that you have it? My ds called from Ball State last night where they had to write articles on the MU/Ball State game and their password back to the paper wouldn't work, so he used a dial up from MSN and bam! the worm. He said he could tell by the way it happened. (I wouldn't have known) Anyway, I think it can be fixed at the MS website. I hate when that happens.
I also hate it when coaches don't let kids play. That is totally ridiculous for young kids. IF he had played FB, he would have lost that weight while playing! Duh. Have they ever looked at any of the players in the NFL? What is the reason? Is it a 'lightweight' league or something? Don't want the small kids hurt?
Well, need to go. DS is bringing his pals from school over for dinner on their way through to school. How convenient for them! I love it!
