well, My DD finally made it home (an hour late) from her first day of Kindergarten on the WRONG BUS! DS was crying as he thought he "lost" her. But alas, it was a bus company mix-up with two different routes having the same bus number!:( I NEED TO HAVE "THE KISSING HAND!" I think all teachers know THAT book! ;)

staying on topic:
Love the tip on water and fruit from the gym. If I don't get the CL upgrade, that's a great suggestion! :D

Anyone know how to add a trip counter? thx.

MORE LIVE FROM THE SWAN . . .

Good morning everyone. Thanks for all of your warm wishes and input on the health clubs bottled water. Will report back on that one after I check that later today. After yesterday's extended nap/relaxation (I read the Nanny Diaries cover to cover), we headed out by bus to downtown disney. BTW, forgot to mention yesterday that my younger sister decided to take advantage of the $120 air fare and join us so there are three of us (translation, an extra wheel chair pusher!). Anyway, we actually left the chair at home last night and just took the cane, which is easier on the bus. We walked around a bit and then ended up at Wolfgang Puck's for dinner. We first shared the spinach dip, then shared a spinach salad with apples, cheese and pecans and then shared a mushroom pizza. We were stuffed and dinner was only $30 for the three of us which is pretty good.

After dinner, we wandered around a bit and ended up at PI at the Adventurer's Club. We spent a few hours there and it was a lot of fun. Then it was off to the comedy club for the 1030 show -- I had forgotten how funny that improv team is. A few fruity drinks later and we were back on the bus. I have to say it was great being the first stop after a long day.

Today, I think we are going to grab some breakfast downstairs at the Lobby Lounge as Mouseteacher suggested and enjoy it at a leisurely pace. Then we (mom, me, sister and Pal Mickey) are going to go to MGM -- I haven't seen the animation tour in a while and we need to see it today because they don't do it on the weekend. Our loose plan is to hang out there for a while and do all of the things we didn't do last June because we had four little ones with us. Not sure what we are going to do for lunch, but I think in the afternoon we will come back for a rest to hang out. I imagine that we will be tired as we all went to bed past midnight and all woke up about 530 am (a family of early risers).

For dinner, thinking of going to Kimonos for a late dinner and hanging out for the karoake -- has anyone done this? If that is not too fun, we may go over to Jelly Rolls, Mom has never seen a dueling piano bar.

Well, that's about all for now.

Lauren

Note to Mouseteacher. No, on the west wing facing the boat dock.

Lauren ~ Have a magical day - your plan sounds wonderful (sigh) - wish I was there. :D What are the forecasts for the tropical depression that is supposed to hit, I believe, soon? I hope it moves on quickly for you.

 Sorority wave to all of you and good morning - I'm off to start the school day (how addicted am I - I come in to the office a little early to DIS!).

See you later!

On topic>> The friendship boats are docked in between the Swan and Dolphin. You can get to them via a covered walkway from both resorts. You can take them to go to MGM or Epcot. While you can walk to either park, the boat ride is a nice rest for weary legs!

Mouseteacher>> End of week four for me, but week three for the kids. I went through my wine collection last night and put a bottle in the fridge for late tonight! I will be sure to pour more than one glass! Anyone else?

Jgates>> I didn't realize that our kids were *almost* the same ages! While we were convinced that an "only" was right for us (not so much me, but DH was convinced), I love having the age spread. We still had Santa at our house last year! Although DS is a half non believer, he didn't want to take any chances last December and still wrote his letter out! :)

Lauren>> Dinner sounds yummy! We did not try Kimonos, although we walked by and "almost" did. It looked and sounded like a lot of fun! Our issue at the time was dinner for everyone and the hour was very late. As the four of us were starving, we decided that a VERY late dinner would be done at Tubbi's. I think you would all enjoy yourselves at Kimonos.

Disbug>> I always tell DH to keep going on 75 and don't look back! We live three miles off of I-75. Our joke is "You can take I-75 to go ANYWHERE!"

EIluvcinderella>> Go to the techboards on the front page of the DIS. There is a thread with directions for adding a counter. I have found that it is easier in explorer than netscape when it comes to cutting and pasting your information. You will be using that thread, and your user cp, to add all of your information. Good luck!

Room wave to all! It is Friday!

Debbie

In June, I did go to Kimonos and the sushi was excellent. I also enjoyed the karaoke. That is not something I would normally do but it was fun in WDW!;) It wasn't too crowded but still very amusing. I did go last December with the DISCON II group and it was hysterical! It was fun with a large group.

Also ... my DD6 left Wednesday for her first day of full day kindergarten. She was a little nervous and I was a real "mixture" of emotions. She seems to like it. She came home yesterday with a wonderful gift from her teacher: a copy of "The Kissing Hand" (signed "With Love from Mrs. Brown"). My DD also brought for me a tracing of her hand with a Hershey Kiss in the middle of it. How sweet. Her teacher is wonderful ... she was also my DD14's kindergarten teacher. We are blessed to have such a fantastic school district with loving and caring teachers. Thank you to all the dedicated school teachers ... especially the sorority sisters on this thread!:) :) :)

:D Thanks, Kelli, for the kind words.

We didn't try Kimono's either. DH loves sushi - NOT ME!!! We walked by 2x around 9:30 and both times the place was either empty or just one or two customers. I thought that maybe the place doesn't "get going" until later.

Either this board...or my server is extremely SLOW! I wrote a nice long post yesterday...filled with pictures, and could not get it posted. Now...I'm posting this little bit, with intentions to "edit" it with all the other stuff! Here GOES~~~~~~~(nothing...LOL).:Either this board...or my server is extremely SLOW! IT WORKED!...now, I hope the rest does as well!

(starting over...ahem) "GOOD MORNING, SISTERS!"

Things around here are indeed hectic...and busy, busy, busy!!!
Football game this eve (Jets lost last eve~:( ), and DD is selecting her class ring this afternoon (to be ready for the special Blessing @ mass next month). She is SO excited! Next week...she takes her Driver's test for her license (I'm going to cry just thinking of it). It's a huge step in the direction of autonomy. I'm just not prepared for all this (is there ANY way to prepare for this?).

www.b-lfarms.com/zoppini1.htm = ADDRESS for the charms on Ebay. Actually, she sells on Ebay too, but has this neat little site for ordering directly. She is wonderful, and I have purchased from her several times, received excellent service and beautiful charms! I recommend this seller for great product/service. ^_^ MY DD also has a beautiful green CHARM WATCH, where the charms may be placed in the links! I'll give anyone more info (if you wish/request). She just purchased a Zoppini Key Chain last week. Is there any end to these things? (LOL).

Disbug~Cute charm theme! There are so many DISNEY BUGS....J.Cricket is one of my FAVS. Enjoy collecting.

Mouseteacher~(Raising my glass to toast)...YOU MADE it THROUGH WEEK ONE! ^_^ DD's Jansport Backpack broke (shoulder buckle) today, so OFF it goes to the warranty repair center in Washington. I LOVE Jansport...as they have a lifetime warranty. They better, as this one cost $80 just 10 months ago!
*P.S. BUT...It's a GOOD ADDICTION (again? Another Oxymoron?! (LOL)

EiLuvCinderella~oh.....I began crying when I read your post! How sad. Sorry for her (& DS's) trouble/stress & anxiety on the first day. Hope it's all better, and today will prove to be triumphant! I was recalling every detail of DD's first day in K-Garten (no bus service), and the "separation anxiety" we all experienced (DH too!). I have a feeling I may experience exactly the SAME thing when she leaves for College. Mouseteacher?

Lauren~You are IN THE MAGIC!!! I LOVE your posts...LIVE. Your day sounded wonderful, and very magical. Kimono's is FAB (great sushi), and the Karoake is so much fun! I'm sure whatever you choose to do...you will have a great time. Sure hope the storm does not interfere with any of your plans. Toss on a YELLOW raincoat...and just go about your business (it's what we do in the summer). A little Deluge has never stopped us from doing anything in the WORLD! Enjoy every moment (I know you will).

#1hockeymom~What?! Did somebody say "NON-SANTA-BELIEVER"?! Santa still visits our house every Christmas! I have "We BELIEVE" pillows...and signs...etc.! (LOL). Remember the DEAR VIRGINIA letter? It's a MAGICAL thing. It's almost like someone suggesting there are REAL HUMAN PEOPLE inside the characters at WDW! COME ON...we all know better! We all know Mickey and Minnie, and all the rest of the gang, are Real Live Mice, living in the Kingdom of WALT. THREE CHEERS for MAGIC and the spirit of BELIEF!

Kelli~thanks for the heartwarming story about DD's day in school. Please, forgive my ignorance. Could you please tell me about the "kissing hand?" I am quite intrigued by the multiple references on this thread. I would be thrilled if you would explain, or perhaps post the details of this topic. Thank you.

Okay...a couple of pics of the BABIES! Yes...they are all named (By DD), as follows: Zanie, Ziggy, Zippy, Zoro, & Zena!

Enjoy....

SWAN UPDATE:

Hello everyone. Let's see. This morning's news report was filled with warnings about tropical storm Henri so we backed up the backpack that hangs off mom's wheel chair with towels and ponchos, etc. The gods must have been smiling on us -- so far, no rain at all and it is 230. We got a lot done at MGM - the movie ride, the animation tour, Indiana Jones, Muppet Movie, pictures with Mickey and, a first for me, pictures with Miss Piggy and Kermit. (FYI - RNRC down this morning due to technical issues).

No wait for anything and the characters were out everywhere! It is cloudy, but with a nice breeze, very enjoyable to be out. Went back to our room so that my sister and I could catch up on some work stuff while mom took a nap. OK, I admit it, I think I slept for an hour too. So far, we haven't had any lunch unless you count the crispy warm funnel cake we inhaled waiting for the Indiana Jones show as lunch. We are getting ready to go back to the parks now. This afternoon will be EPCOT. Current plan is to walk about, get a very late lunch and enjoy the afternoon until the rain hits. Based on your collective comments, Kimonos is on for tonight for dinner.

Thanks for your continued warm wishes. Hope I am not boring you with these reports.

Lauren

Lauren~ BORING?! Hush, girl! We love these LIVE reports- thanks.

Disneyland's BTR derailed with one person critically injured. A sad thing indeed and so unusual for Disney theme parks. I hope the injured will be fine.

DF~ Awww... such sweet new babies and beautiful parents. Seeing a child going off to college is hard but we know that we have raised a fine young man embarking on the final road to independent adulthood. That makes us very proud indeed. Oh and btw, ahem, we were rooting for the Redskins (LOL) b/c we need the teams in the Patriots division to lose --- and that means the Jets. ;) :D

Sorry, I'm a few days late in responding, which is just like me, a few days late and a few dollars short!

Therefore...feel free to HOP in the EXTRA 29" pullman! It's very cushy and comfy, especially for the non-stop to MCO. Meet me in LAX at the Delta Terminal in July. I'll give the exact specifics later. You will be more than welcome to join in on all the events and fun, since we have more than enough room in the suites!

I'll be the blonde holding up the card that says "Dreamflight Family" just like the Limo drivers!

Hee hee hee!

Hi all,
Week #2 down! I am beat! All you K parents...I get such a chuckle...we had K parents actually following their kids with a video camera, walking in the building, walking out to the playground, following them everywhere! Moms AND dads! Everyone has settled down into routines, finally and things are going smoothly.

Lauren...love getting your posts and am glad you are having a good time.
DF...love the ducks! Haven't had any trouble posting lately, so don't know why the Dis wouldn't let you do it. Hmm. Maybe your server. That worm that was going around hit some servers and ours contacted us that they were doing all they could to keep it at bay. Amazing what an 18 year old can do on these computers, isn't it?
Kelli...sorry about the pic of the U of I baton twirler. Can't even tell it is her. I need some new pic software to be able to fix photos.

 , ozzie. I just finished week1 = 3 early release days and it felt more like a month! LOL - readjusting to routine, I guess. Today, our K kids seemed much better - only one who had to be pried off his mom at the door. This seems to be an unusual year - generally I don't see the hysterics that I've seen this week.

#1HM~ I have my wine chillin' in the refrig! Who is going to join us? ozzie? DF? Disbug? madge? muffy? et al?

On topic: The quiet pool at the Swan is truly a quiet pool - so relaxing and so not crowded. The Pina Coladas at the pool bar are delicious. Ahhh... I can reminisce can't I?... have my book, my lounge chair under a palm tree and a pina colada -- life is good! ;)

make it a bud light and I'm there :)

my boys have gone to watch the Louisville Bats play in the playoffs (baseball) so I am hanging out tonight. Hopefully my wee one will co-operate and go to sleep early...

::::keeping on topic:::: does the Swan have The Heavenly Crib"?

Mouseteacher, Chilled wine here in CT too! Your first week at school sounds hectic. Everyone will be in a routine soon. Lead them through deep waters!

Ozzie, Sounds like you could use a glass of wine too! DD also just finished her first week of school (8th grade). We are so lucky to have a great middle school in our town. Thank you to all of the great teachers here on the S/D thread! Our kids need you!

Waving

First on topic: Has anyone received any postcard offers from the S/D lately? Can you still book the Recipe postcard rate? If so, how much is it?

Wine.... did I hear a cork pop? I'm fixing to head home from work. Had to go to DD2 IEP meeting to transition her from EIP to regular school starting in January, so I'm making up some work here...

Talk about a shock... if I was a mess sending mine to first day of K at the tender age of 5, can you imagine leaving a 3 year old on her first day of class?? :( It's going to take me the the next 5 months to get used to this idea. (OK, ozzie! I don't know if I got any videos of first day of school, but I know I took a roll of pictures!!) LOL! Major milestones in their/our lives! So precious to us all.

DH is making daddy burgers, so I must hurry home. Will post later with a burger and pinot grigiot!

Pinot, bud light... we're all set! I have the Sox/Yankees game on (Sox 7 Yanks 0), DH is watching taped TV shows from last season, DS is at a school dance and I'm DISing!

Disbug~ My parents live near Tampa - Indian Rocks Beach to be exact. Two hours away from Disney World and the S/D! Lucky people! We'll all be here to support you when the time comes to leave your precious little one.

ozzie~
:D the same scenario at my school, too - lots of videoing, cameras and moms and dads with the K kids. On Monday, the PreK kids arrive - more videos to capture life moments!

Guess I did sound like I needed a glass of wine!(or was that whine?) Make mine white....my fav is Asti. Then I will be out like a light! With red cheeks to boot.

Thanks for thinking of me! Can someone lift the glass for me?!
