NEW...DOLPHIN/SWAN..."questions and answers"...tips and hints!

Tiffany:

I asked for the 4pm checkout as well--I'm Gold and it was also included with the recipe card promotion I used. I was initially told no, it was only if it was available and they were all full the day I was leaving. I asked later in the week, and another CM said that they could only confirm it the day before. I then asked the day before, and they said sure, and then when we came back at 3pm to pack, they had changed the cards, so we couldn't open the room! Security was called and opened up the room and we rushed around and got our stuff out, but I think the take-home message is that I would always try to speak to someone the day before to confirm it, and if you're going to be out that morning, stop by the desk and see if you need to get new cards to get back in, later.

My recent stay at the Swan was very nice, but I did have this problem where I was never able to resolve anything over the phone. Everytime I called about something--missing credit, late checkout, etc., I was always turned down summarily, or was told that they didn't know anything about it. When I went down to talk to someone at the desk, they were always able to solve the problem immediately. It wasn't a big inconvenience, but it was a little time consuming to always have to stop off at the desk for any question, knowing that for some reason, the phone would suck all of their ability to help me away...

I also have to chime ina all it be late about Christmas...It is wonderful...We were there 6/7 years ago and are returning this year between Dec 20th to jan 4....I ccan't wait ...I'm celebrating my 40th bday on Dec 24th so, I'm really excited about this trip....

Dizbug...it was wonderful reading your trip report....read all segments and was very jealous....

Thanks Lonegungirl and Hockeymom for your responses.

Is there any sort of creamer in the room if I do end up making tea or coffee in the room?

Powered cream and sugar is included with a stir stick and a napkin, in a plastic packet. I had to call down for more sugar due to DH's sugar/coffee requirements. (He uses three to four sugars per cup of coffee. I try to NEVER accidentally drink his coffee.) I not only received more sugar, but an entire bag of coffee to go with it! *and I mean BAG of coffee... lots of the filter packs!* If you need anything in different quantities feel free to call and they will be happy to accomodate you. We always had our first cup of coffee in the room before heading to the club lounge for breakfast. The club lounge has regular dairy creamer, along with some flavored creamers and coffee syrups.

Hope this helps!
Debbie

Hi, all! Just returned from a fun afternoon with my girlfriends. We went shopping - Christmas Tree Shop and Home Goods- and then went for a late lunch. It is always such great fun being with good friends! Guess what we talked about? A girlfriends reunion trip to Disney!!! A number of years ago (lost count), the 4 of us stayed at the CR during our spring break (we're all educators). We had a wonderful time and now talking about doing it again as a 15th or so Anniversary trip. Of course, I told them how wonderful the S/D is and that's where we should stay. They haven't been back to Disney for a number of years. Now, if all comes about, how do I break the news to DH that he can't come - girls only! I'm sure he will pout a bit. LOL :p

Disbug ~ I pick up my pictures late Thursday. So, hopefully, I can post some this weekend.

#1hockeymom! I can identify with the coffee... DH takes 4 packets of sugar minimum + cream! I've learned to drink it black so I know which one's mine! (My fillings get a little twinge just thinking about it! LOL!)

Good news about the photos, Mouseteacher! Are so looking forward to your views while you were there. You're "girls only" trip sounds fabulous! I'm hoping for a solo trip sometime this fall, probably a few days before our MNSSHP. DH is sweet about letting me get away once a year or so! (The family trip was great but I don't think I read 2 paragraphs from the book I brought with me! :D) The World Conference on Disabilities is in Orlando in September, so maybe we can run over to WDW for a day in between workshops!

lonegungirl! That's too bad about the phone... I was able to resolve all of mine over the phone from the room. Nothing too difficult, however! Might have just been an off day!

zurgswife! No need to be jealous! You're about to be there yourself in a few months! It'll be great! Savor every moment! Some days I just wish we wouldn't have had to sleep so we could keep going... but not very practical!

Disbug ~ needed to practice posting pictures since I haven't done it in a while. So, this was from last summer but this was the view from the window in our dining area.

Another pix from last summer - DBro is the photographer and we were headed to MGM via the walkway. That's DSIL in the foreground and DH and me in the background. Youngest DS is blocked by oldest DS. Seems to be the story of his life - at least that's what he'd tell you! ;)

Such great pictures! Oh the quality! I love the sharpness of the detail! The ONLY reason I use my pictures is to help illustrate the tale as it were. (Maybe I should just leave it to everyone's imagination! LOL!) Love the pictures of your family!
Going to feed DD2 now, DH and DD14 have gone to Walmart for last minute school supplies she forgot to mention she needed for tomorrow!

Cruise stories please! We've been on RC, but weren't that impressed. Would love to hear about the Disney cruises. We are half-passing the idea around of giving DD a cruise for her graduation present.

Debbie

I'm still here reading up on the S/D... and your request for cruise info caught my eye...

Let me start by saying that for almost all my life, my most favorite, magical place in the whole wide world was WDW.... well, folks it's not true any more! Although I love the place dearly, it almost pales in comparisson to the DCL!! *almost* ;)

It was certainly the BEST vacation we have ever taken!!

Now that being said... I am still planning our December vacation to WDW ;) :)
October 2004 is DCL ;)

Disbug>>
I've been enjoying your trip reports!! Thank you for taking the time to post them.

Wow - it has taken me forever to catch up........but well worth it! Disbug........I'll be following your BWV saga. Excellent trip reporting! (and very cute family) Plus, I love all of the extra's that you did for your family.

Z'swife.......I celebrated my 40th at the Swan in May. They comped us to CL privileges because of it! I wanted to be "out of town" when I hit that milestone but my mother assured me that I would still be 40 when I returned home. :D Honestly, turning 30 was much worse.

KelliR and Judirain.......we'll overlap with your trip. We'll be there 8/29 - 9/2. We'll probably be in Epcot for Illuminations on the 29th. (probably just DS - 6 and me) I'll look for your lime green.

MaryG

ps welcome to all the lurkers who are posting. I can hardly keep up! This is such a fun thread and informative too.

Thank you ennazus for your input on DCL!

Thank you for sharing your pictures, Mouseteacher! I love the comment about the youngest son! I remember someone asking about balcony and floor level at the Dolphin. Your first picture shows the wings at the Dolphin. I was almost positive they went down to the bottom floor, but couldn't be sure enough to post that information. Hopefully they'll see those pictures! Thank you for sharing!

Disbug>> Happy Birthday! I just read your adventures on the other thread. Keep them coming!

To everyone about to leave..... Have a wonderful trip and eat a chocolate croissant for me, please!

*room wave*

Do they still offer special rates for firemen and policemen? Do these fall under the govt. rate?? Do retired policemen get this rate. I thought I had read this info somewhere and cant find it.
Thanks for any info.:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I am almost certain that Firemen and Policemen are considered government employees. The GOVT RATE is for federal, state, and local govt employees. I myself work for the city in a municipally owned power plant, so if I qualify for the GOVT RATE, I know you must, too!
*I just now saw you were retired... this will require someone more expert than myself to answer. (I would vote YES!)

Thanks #1hockeymom! I'm having a great day with DD2, DH, and DD8 with DD14 is at school!

Thanks, too enazus!

hockeymom ~ on the picture showing the Swan - you can see "our east wing" as we are walking by it.

On the Dolphin - it does look like the wings have balconies on lower floors.

Thank you for remembering me! It is so appreciated!

PS Did you get my techie question about linking to specific posts? So far I've managed to link to the start of a thread or the top of the page where the post is located, but not to a specific post itself... Can it be done?

Thanks again! I'm feeling warm and fuzzy here!
