...your pics are just SUPER!!! With all these fantastic photos being posted here, it makes me wanna get on the next flight to MCO....keep em' coming, guys!!:D

Ok, I called about the 99.00 rate which was available since my daughter is a CM. If I book through her name I can not get SPG points for me even though credit card is in my name. Does that sound right that is what I was told on the phone. So I then decided to try and book with the teacher rate (I am an aide) she said I would just need a school ID is that right? That rate is 129.00 and I can get my points. What should I do? I booked the first one (99.00) and have the other (129.00) on hold till Monday. Both say we must pay the 10.00 resort fee is that correct? Also what is considered an extra adult? 25.00 per night extra charge seems pretty steep. Thanks again for all of your help.

Pondering...and meditating. ;) Thanks again, for all of your support. :)

Ozzie...Your pictures are TORTURE! I want to be there RIGHT NOW ("I want an OOMPA-LOOMPA Now, Daddy!), LOL! :p Great, absolutely AMAZING photos. Thanks again...for the surreal "mindscape".

Happytrails...Thanks. Yes, this certainly would prove to be the "ultimate DF" for moi. Just imagine the pics I could post on this thread from "SPACE"! Difficult to fathom, more difficult to choose. I'm leaning towards "passing" this time...as DH has two more years of HS. I spoke with the selection Mgr. in Houston, and would be fine in the 2-yr. window. The program's still forging ahead, flights are the only "pause" in the progress of exploration/testing. I'd have "ample" time to prepare. ;)

Nancyv58...I'm pretty sure you can receive SPG points for ANY stay at the WDW Dolphin/Swan. They are NOT a Disney-Owned resort, and could care less if DD is a CM, or not. If you are unable to obtain them at the time of your stay, simply fax/mail a copy of the folio and your SPG account number to the Starwood guest services address afterward. They will insure the proper points are credited into your account. I do know you will need a school ID or other form of identification to obtain the discounted rate, otherwise...anyone could assert such, and stay under false pretense. The resort fee is an ongoing point of contention. Please, ask for this to be "waived" upon check-in. The "extra" adult charge is standard in the industry. Usually, 18 and above constitutes an adult. Call the resort for clarification. Hope this helps.

:)

Just checking in :D It's been very busy at school and home. I am fighting my first cold of the season - go figure... winter is over and NOW I get a cold!

ozzie, those pictures are terrific! It makes me long for the sun and warmth and Disney magic. Keep posting!

Hi Disnurse - Have a great trip...You'll arrive a day before we do...save us a nice spot by the pool, would you?;) Happy holidays to everyone staying at the Dolphin next week:Pinkbounc
(and I still haven't finished my assignment):(

:bounce: Counting in hours now til our trip to WDW!:bounce:

I am booked at the Swan May 6-16th at $162.50 thanks to Deb's site. Since I booked this I found this thread I have learned so much. I signed up with SPG and then got the Amex card. Spg bumped me up to Gold, no questions. Great!

When I look up the rate plan on Spg it says,"Rate booked represents discounted rate. Includes complimentary One level upgrade." The Room description is,"Whimsical themed room offering a view of resort area and Cresent Lake."

Sooo.. my question is now that I am gold spg could a get a complimentary upgrade to club level? I have no points. After all the posts about how long it takes for them to show up I have been using my Disney card instead, for a few Disney dollars. Our trip was only 28 days away when I got the card in the mail.

We would absolutely love the breakfast every a.m., but I don't know if it is right to ask for club level when I already recieved one upgrade. If it is how do I do it? And when should I ask?

Sorry this is so long but after several days of going through these threads I never saw this problem addressed.

P.S. Dreamflight99 Congrats on the application. That is just the coolest!

Dreamflight,
Please check your e-mail. I e-mailed you some questions regarding SPG and Loews Platinum.

When I was at Epcot last week I was asked for my email so they could send me a survey. Well I just finished filling it out. Very basic questions about how In liked everything food, merchandise, Fastpass, rides etc. The last thing allows for any comments or improvments I would like to see.
So I told them how they should look into the serivce of there hotels to be more like Starwood. And that I also felt they needed to do something for the loyal that visit year after year, we feel totally unnoticed and unappreciated.
Don't know if it will do any good but I feel better anyway.

Wonderful - - sounds like a win/win situation to me. Yes indeedee, prize winning photos, I'm certain! I wonder how much free TANG you could procure from NASA? (hee hee) Circumstances as they are, I would most likely wait as well. TGIF!

Just wondering ... do you get any Sky Miles of any sort for any space trips you may be taking? I think you should start arranging that now ... if you could get any SPG points for those miles you could LIVE at the Dolphin forever!:D And probbly have enough to invite us all down for a few years at a time! Ahhhhhh...I'm just imagining my free Dolphin stays right now ...;) :p

Well I'm off and running, we don't check into the dolphin thill tomorrow but arrive in fl tonight. I'll try and check-in during our down time if we take any

Disnurse,
Have a great time. We're leaving in 6 days. Save some of that magic for us.

Just wanted to give a big THANK YOU to everyone out there. Here is how you helped me a whole bunch.

A little history. Been on the DIS for 4 years or so and got some good tips. About a year ago started looking at the Swan/Dolphin. Learned about Starwood, Got a card, got the American Express, and started using it.
Found out about the nurses rate.
Cancelled a Dolphin ressie for last Dec because was cheaper at POR. Sad about that.
Made ressie for DH and my 25th anniversary (early do to annual passes) for a week in may to take advantage of Star Wars and Flower and Garden with nurses rate and upgraded to gold.
Decided to do a Alaskan Cruise instead on our actual anniversary in June.
Decided we couldn't miss the above two events so shortened our Disney trip. Got one free airline ticket with frequent flyer miles, and still nurses rate at 714.00 for the 5 nights.

Found out here about Cash and Points, nothing for our dates....but wait found out here that they open new rooms on friday. Now for the great news. I was in a conference on Friday but today....wooohooo rates for my dates. Called Swan they said I could transfer the ressie but had to go through SPG and if they said they couldn't do it, have them call her cause they can..Success and the saving of over 400.00.
We had been worried this trip was going to be a big crimp with the cruise too, but its looking better and better.

So this thread alone let me know about points and how to get them, to upgrade to gold, and be excited to check out the Swan.

I've also stayed a free night in Chicago at the Westin do to the info here.
They simply transfered my ressie, so with my deposit from before I owe about 160.00 when I get there, my park tickets are from my annual pass (found out about on other boards) and one of my plane tickets was free.
I don't even care if I get a comp upgrade as I no longer have enough points to pay for one with points.

So Thank You all again, it is worth reading and getting info from you all. Pixie dust all around.

LOL...You DO know me very well! IF Skymiles/SPG points were part of the equation...I'd be in Houston in 11 months for training! heHe...What a PERK! :p

HappyTrails...TANG! Not to mention the yummy MRE's...:p

wld...Great to hear from you again! Also, good to know you continue to benefit from SPG, and the info obtained on our fun-filled thread. Thanks for the nice post! ;)

Can I just say we are less the 30 days away!!!!!!!!!!!!

DL do you think Houston will let you use points to upgrade? ;)

Psst, everybody...

the Swan and Dolphin are not, I repeat, are not "real" Disney resorts!!!;)

Whew, I am glad I got that off of my chest. With the traffic on the board lately, you would think everyone was suffering from some mass hysteria leading to the mistaken belief that the S & D were really as magical as a Disney resort. Well, IMHO, it is time to nip this in the bud! Next thing you know, I won't get my comp. upgrade because the S & D will be too full. It makes me want to harumph.

On a more serious note, anyone worried about SARS and Disney? I'm not an avid worrier, but this has crossed my mind many times as it seems that I inevitably catch a cold each time I go to the World. Anyway, sorry if this thought bothers anyone.

LOL...absolutely! Perhaps we should initiate another "thread" on the matter. :p

REF. SARS: This has definitely crossed my mind. With a DS as an RN, she has discussed the # of guests/patrons visiting WDW hailing from Mainland China. I'm wondering if the execs @ WDW are planning any preventative measures (esp. with ever-present threats of bio-terror). It is a terribly nastry strain of the coronavirus. Check-out this site for some info on 3M 8233 Respirators and Masks, Gloves & Sanitizing wipes in Stock
http://www.AniSafety.com

It is not my intention to alarm any of you with regards to this information. It's just better to be SAFE than SORRY. SARS is easily contracted through numerous means (ie: The principal way SARS appears to be spread is through droplet transmission; namely, when someone sick with SARS coughs or sneezes droplets into the air and someone else breathes them in. It is possible that SARS can be transmitted more broadly through the air or from objects that have become contaminated).
