Sorry....My jag is in the shop this week - can't get the VIN number! How about a VIN from a 1955 Packard Caribbean Convertible or a '53 Stude Commander or that '34 Chevy Coupe. Maybe if I sold all of those I could get that Jag & Gold Status!

emme ~ I believe turn down service comes with CL reservation. It was described on our reservations when we were upgraded to CL. Although, we never received the service of which i had no problem. If I really wanted it, I would have called the front desk.

pewing ~ still, you will be alone during the day. I would love to hear of your solo adventures in the World and how it felt to navigate on your own.

This probably won't answer your turndown service question, but.... we are Gold SPG and were upgraded to a balcony room in December (an awesome renovated room at the Swan). The turndown service was automatic. Not sure how that happens, it just did. I think it was sometime around 6-7 p.m. when they come by as we were in our room for a few minutes when they showed up.

Does anyone know when rooms are assigned at the Swan/Dolphin? I had called and asked if there were any Swan Studio's available w/balcony and one time I was told yes, one was available and would I like to book it? Unfortunately I held off, cause the next time I asked about the Swan Studio w/balcony I was told some have balconies, but cannot be guaranteed until check-in.

How is it that one reservationist could guarantee a balcony , but the other could not? It seems that if rooms are only assigned at check-in, then what would be the point of making special requests in advance? Anyone know how rooms are assigned? I guess I need to know how the game is played before I start playing!!

Haven't been in here for a while but so glad that you're all still here.

I've booked a room at The Swan - resort view. Then when I went to check on my reservation at SPG and this is how it described my room:

"Deluxe Non-Smoking Rm, Step Out Balcony, Resort View With Balcony, Hollywood Bath, , Whimsical Themed Room With Private Balcony Offering A View Of Resort Area And Crescent Lake."

So what's a Hollywood Bath then and is Deluxe room different ?

Emmy, I've never tried it myself, but I believe you can just call housekeeping or maybe even front desk when you check in if you prefer to request turndown. You don't have to pay extra for it, but you might want to tip.

Well it's quite plain to see that I'm not the <i>only</i> cheeky one round here!

Turn-down service is a perk of the CL status, but MAY be requested. Simply CALL the front desk or Housekeeping and ask for the service. They are more than happy to oblige. When we return from the parks late in the eve (Verrrrry LATE), the T.V.'s are on, and tuned to the Starwood channel. The lights are on (soft lighting...above the beds, etc.). and the beds are all turned-down and tucked, with a card and chocolates. The card is a "Weather report" for the following day! Also, the towels and other amenities are "refreshed". It's a FABULOUS perk, one we enjoy at all the resorts we visit. (Hope this helps you, Emmy).

RobMax...I take no offense to "Disneymad" (aka: cheeky brit!), as everyone needs a "look" now and then. She's a sweetie, and just doing her duties. I appreciate the notice, and her light-touch delivery. (Ah..To REPHRASE: "While at the DOLPHIN, I often ponder College days of yore...and recall the "LOOKS" I cherish from all the Profs!" BETTER?)

WDW2000...The rooms can definitely be assigned in advance, but it takes a LOT of effort on the part of the reservation associate. These rooms have to be "blocked" with numerous notations all over them (DON'T TOUCH...NOT AVAILABLE...etc.). Sometimes, it's such a hassle, associates just prefer not to assign specific rooms in advance. If you pay for a balcony, you will receive a balcony.

Rooms are "assigned" the day before you arrive. Also, check in to the property "fairly" early, like noon-2 pm. The check-in RUSH around 2-4 makes it difficult to obtain a preferred room/exact location. If you truly desire a certain room/area/balcony...I would KEEP calling until I reached an associate whom agrees to BLOCK the room. They are there...it's just a matter of connecting with one. Sounds as if you spoke with one during your initial call. I wish you would have "reserved" it then...as you can always CANCEL w/o penalty (especially this far in advance). Try again, and again. Please, post here and let us know how this transpires. Thanks!

SAM...Hollywood baths are designated by an "additional exterior sink in the vanity outside of the bathroom." Deluxe rooms are a tiny bit larger in size, sometimes with preferred views. Good to see you on here again.

Well, with the great $139 rate at the Dolphin, I am trying to convince dh to book now (before 4/15). We are considering September (would have considered Oct. but rate ends 9/30)

We are driving down from Ohio with our three 4-year-olds. It should take about 1-1/2 days.

I am leaning towards the week of Sept. 2nd (starting day after Labor Day - or do you think it would be okay to check in on Labor Day but not do any parks?) I see two benefits to this.. We would travel on Sun & Mon - requiring no vacation days from dh's work. And - I would just delay the start of the kids preschool - hopefully they won't be exposed to any illness before we go. I wouldn't do this if they were in Kindergarten, but I'm fine with doing it for preschool!

2) The week of Sept 14th (14th is dh's birthday and check out on Sept 20th - our anniversary)

Or,

3) The last week in Sept.

I would truly appreciate any opinions. I posted here because we will be staying at the Dolphin and thought I'd get the best responses here. Does the hotel get crowded around that time? (I know right now they have availability for all of my dates).
