DreamFlight -

I just made a reservation with the Dolphin requesting Far-East Wing facing Epcot (unobstructed view) like you suggested. I just checked my ressie on the SPG site and it states:

Deluxe Rm, Step out Balcony, Resort View w/balcony offering view of resort area & crescent lake

Does this sound like the right view for what you reccommended?

ALSO - when they say "Step-Out" balcony, are these the small balconies like the BC has that literally only fits 2 people standing, or are they full balconies with table and chairs?

AND ... I was debating over CL or Balcony, and decided on balcony hoping to get a CL upgrade at check - in. However, the reservationist said that you MUST have a room on CL to use the lounge, and that you could not pay extra for it, or be upgraded to it unless you are on the 12th or 14th floor. Was I mis-informed?

I can't answer your question about the step out balcony. I do know that we had CL and we were not on the club floor. We were on the far west wing, 11th floor. Hope this helps!

I was just catching up on the recent posts - lots to catch up on - and I was only gone for a day!

disnurse ~ wonderful news from your front.

M.Ed here and some of my K students call me the "owner of the school". Talk about elevating you into a new level!;)

Welcome, Gilligan. We are a friendly and fun bunch of S/D fans.

DF ~ those delectable pictures looked quite... er... delectable. It is giving me an urge to get a handful of Oreo cookies since I have nothing quite as elegant as that in my house.

mouseteacher MEd here too. Mines health ed of course. In RI school nurses are required to have a teaching certificate as well as Rn. I opted for health ed as i do teach health when my clinic isn't overflowing with sick and injured.
Only about 3 weeks for my trip and i starting to gather things together. Figuring out how to work my new digital camera shuld really do me in, haven't had time this week of course.

LOL...YOU'VE GOT ME?!? I hope it's "ALL GOOD", as the TAG FAIRY would NEVER BE MALICIOUS...right?
I have to side w/you on the DVC timeshare issue. No offense to those members whom are thrilled with this program. We just never "took the bait", (although we did listen to the spiel and obtain the nice promos...LOL). We are not fans of this method of travel. We stay in Disney's VERO BEACH, a PRIME DVC location. Yet, we always stay as "guests". Your perspective is quite on-target, and could be the ole' "Misery LOVES company" aphorism rearing it's ugly head! :p However you slice it...I'm sorry for the lashing you received. It's totally uncalled for, and very inappropriate. BTW...do we have to expose, er...ummm, REVEAL our pedigrees? LOL. :) *Thanks for the FREE SHIPPING info @ the D.S. ;)

WDW2000...YES, this sounds like the room/view you want! The step-out balcony is a FULL balcony, with two chairs and a table. The reservationist is incorrect, and at the time of Check-in you may UPGRADE your current room status to CL using the points. You'll just have a nice walk over to the CL...but you'll keep the room/view and most importantly "BALCONY"! Make sure you insist upon maintaining the BALCONY upon check-in, when you inquire as to the possibility of a FREE upgrade. ;)

Mousteacher...OREOS? Food fit for a QUEEN! ;)

OH NO!!!! Not the Oreo conversation again!!?!?!?! But, seriously, gotta get that check out in the mail......;)

It has been too long since i read this post - my gosh, i had 9 pages to catch up on - you guys type too quickly here now!!!
Gee, i have no Dolphin stories... am wracking up Starwood points with all the hotel stays related to state workshops for the MCAS testing here in MA.

Gee, what are the magic words for the "tag fairy" to cast some magic words my way????

Just wanted to say hi - i will be back when all this school stuff is done - takes so much time as Mouseteacher well knows!

Caroline

How long until retirement????????
;) ;) ;)

Oh, Tag Fairy....... I BELIEVE! I BELIEVE!!!!! Goodness, take off a few days and I miss the TF's wonderful flight thru our board. I am soooo jealous.

My engineering student is home for a week on spring break. So until the 'Big Dance' started last nite - I have had to take my turn on my computer! Then when I was here it was to work on FAFSA (night after night after night......). All to find out that I am supposed to contribute 11,154 of his cost this year. Huh? ACK!

For those of you who wish to contribute to this college fund......email me for my paypal address. :p

I will attempt again in the next few nights to find the specs for Corporate Preferred. It doesn't list them when you log in and I cannot find them right now, but I thought room enhancement was one of the perks.

jgates........been there, done that........FAFSA........they seem to think we can contribute $21,000!!!!! LOL My journalism student doesn't even get to come home. I guess his work is never done. He is at Mizzou. Yikes.....I can use a college fund too!

Also haven't heard from the tag fairy.........me too, me too!

I supposed (other than wanting a tag) I should quit whining.

My girlfriend at work had around 17,000 family contribution I believe and the UW school they are headed for has an estimated annual cost (tuition, housing, food, books etc) of around 11,000 I'm guessing - so guess what - definitely no financial aid! Ours at UW-Madison (Go Badgers - great win!) is around 13,500. Next year we are spending every last dime of savings bonds, savings etc there before FAFSA time!

Geez - no one has asked for that email address yet.

I am grateful DS can come home if he wants - 2 hours & 10 min to dorm or something like that. (If I don't stop at the casino on the way down):p - Course he doesn't really WANT to come home until the golf course opens!!!!!

I will say he really enjoyed the Disney courses for anyone who is interested in that. We purchased a $129 pass for him last July where he could do unlimited after 3 pm. Normally he would get in all 18 holes - sometimes miss the last one or two if they had to wait out a rainshower (or should I say a thundershower or baby hurricane?)

Ozziewags- what page were the directions on inserting a photo in this thread? Seems like an age ago they were here.

YOU REMEMBER? (LOL)! Your post made my eve...:p . It was JEN, and her LOVE of the CHOCOLATE COVERED OREOS at the DOLPHIN (The ones I described which were served in a BASKET to our SUITE). I miss JEN...and have not heard from her in ages. I'll PM you as soon as the $$$ is received, and the PINS are SHIPPED! TGIF....;) ...Thanks again, for the memories. :)

Hello, Caroline! Nine pages have passed since you posted? You need to check-in more often. The fun is FAST & FURIOUS on this thread...and just keeps ticking-away!;) Good luck with all the "School Stuff". I applaud you for your dedication and hard-work. :sunny: Come back soon.

jgates...I recall they were posted on our "old" thread (w/talk of the STOCKS...etc.). I too, believe room enhancement was one of the perks. We were all laughing at the time, as McDees Stock gives you a burger, and others offer some FREEBIES too. We all agreed S.W. should offer a FREE eve as a Stock/shareholder perk! (LOL). :p OUCH....Between you and OZZIE...I shudder to think of what STANFORD will think we should "contribute" for DD's edu. Argh! State Schools are $O ATTRACTIVE here in Cali...HeHe.;) As for the photo-posting info...it was quite a ways back. But, I'm sure OZZIE (in-house photo-posting GURU!) will be more than happy to post it again. Ozzie?

:)

JG - what is you "student's focus." I have to tell you the group (companies) I support on the marketing/logistics synthesis is the hottest business field today. Yep, students that can combine engineering and marketing make the top earing field out of businesses right now. Supply chain focused orgs are hot for IE people.

www.ou.edu/richey

follow the CLM and ISM links

If I can be of help, please let me know. The field helped me earn real money before I was 30 and honestly is the only reason I earned a PhD by 34! :)

I was catching up on everyone's posts-caught this from Dreamflight:

Mousteacher...LOL, I skip too! Even here at home, on an evening walk. Under the dark sky with a luminous moon casting my shadow, I sometimes skip, and sing: "Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my!" HeHe...I'm ALWAYS a child, clothed in adult attire (In or OUT of WDW)! LIFE (in general)...brings out the CHILD in me!

It reminded me of a visit to MK in 2000-as my kids and I entered the park on early entry, we saw a young couple ahead of us skipping into the park. The man wasn't looking where he was going and FELL DOWN on Main Street and gashed his head! My son (13yo) shook his head and said, "Adults shouldn't skip!".

Robmax asks:

"So tell me this my S & D lovers. Why in God's name would the S and D upgrade we SPG members to better rooms when we show up woth a number and a smile once or twice a year? Hummmmmm?"

Because word of mouth advertising is the best of all. I've already told at least 20 of my nurse friends at work about the nurse discount and my comp. upgrade-if even a couple of them look into the Swan they will have made up for the comp. upgrade.

My husband is a prof here at MSU seeking tenure, so I read your posts with great interest. AND, speaking of traveling, he is due to fly to Sicily next Wednesday to give a talk at an International Lung Conference. For some reason, I feel more nervous about this than all the travel we did immediately after 9/11.

I wouldn't feel nervous AT ALL about traveling to Disney, though.

Wow! I feel wonderful now. Public Relations is Disneys best promotional method and when bad news gets out they go nuts.

This entire board is WOM for WDW. I love it when I am challenged here as I know the wdw people know who I am. Nah, I'm not really mportant to them, but they know they have my trust. Heck ... I'm still just a number even though I will be speaking to UCC-gov at WDW in May

You SAID MSU and for me MSU is Michigan St where my academic grandfather "Don Bowersox" is not to mention 12 other people I know and love, plus a new one on the way from HA. Please send me a PM!!!

...yes, dear Jen (my fellow NJ'er). Hope all is well with her...I think the last time I was a "faithful reader of you, oh S/D guru", her son was recuperating(?).......Wow, how time FLIES!!

My goodness, you guys are up early here! Lots of educated people on this thread! As for the skipping........I do it almost daily! I have the BEST job...... I teach physical education to K-2 youngsters and get to play alllllll day, trying to teach them healthy and active lifestyles.

All the Big Ten folks on here.........just want you to know that I am rooting for ALL Big Ten teams in the tourney (even Indiana).....sorry Hoosiers, couldn't resist! So far, so good. (also want Missouri to do well.(that's where all my money is right now!)

Glenn.......it's ok, you can vent here and we don't mind! Feel better? LOL

Mitla......your skipping story is GREAT. I had a kindergartner tell me yesterday....."you're really good for an old woman." Wasn't sure if that was a compliment or not!

jgates.......I kept a copy of my directions on posting pics, so I wouldn't forget how to do it myself! Will post it here:

>As for posting pics, I played around til I figured it out! I uploaded them into Image Station, then I highlighted the pic I wanted to use and right clicked on it. I clicked on properties and copied the url address. Then I went to my post and clicked on IMG and pasted the url in the window that popped up, then clicked ok. Then I previewed my post, and wala! my pic was there.<

GO ILLINI!!!

Happy thoughts! Happy thoughts! Happy thoughts! Happy thoughts! Happy thoughts! Happy thoughts! Happy thoughts! Happy thoughts! Happy thoughts! Happy thoughts! Happy thoughts! Happy thoughts! Happy thoughts! :)
