New Disney Visa "Inspire" card

Denied.....I have a credit score of 851.....reason for denial....too few revolving debt. I have a Chase Disney card already, I pay it off in full every month....so I guess they didn't want to give me $600 in bonuses knowing they were never going to be charging me interest...no win for them, would have been a win for me though!
Chase doesn’t play games like “they won’t pay interest”. Call and find out if there is something besides your thin credit file at play here.

Sadly, the “score” is just something for us foolish mortals to feel good about.

A high score with a thin file is worse than an average score with good history sometimes.

Any insight? I opened the premier card right before the inspired card launched. I normally pay off in full every month and score trackers always list credit score above 800, but this month I'll have to carry a balance of about 3k between 3 different cards until next month then pay it off but some of that is 6-month no interest charges. Had a delay in some money coming in. I opened an amazon store card last year for a bonus, and other cards are multiple years old. Cars and mortgage are paid off, no other debt.

Would I likely be approved applying for Inspire? Should I wait until I've had premier a few months or longer? Should I wait to pay off my balances first?

However I don't need the premier /and/ the inspire /and/ the basic Disney card. Don't want to close the basic because I've had it 10 years. Should I close the premier if I get an inspired then downgrade the Inspire after the year? Keep both? Downgrade the premier to a second basic card -- is that allowed? Lol

Want to take advantage of the promotional offers and assume these initial offers will be the best.

Sorry for so many questions -- appreciate insight!

you are correct.....I'm 68, still work full time and have a six figure salary but I don't have debt....no car payments, no school loans, only have 1 credit card and pay it off in full every month. It's not that I don't have a credit history, I've had credit since I was 21 but in the last 10 years I have worked to pay off everything so I go into my retirement debt free. I already own a home, if I need a car, I could pay cash for one... I don't really need any more credit, just wanted to take advantage of the $600 bonus as I have a Disney vacation booked for October but yes, as of right now I have a very "thin file" as you put it. BTW, I do have a Chase Disney card (it's my one card) and they raise my credit line up every 6 months like clock work.

I wouldn't apply myself unless it was all paid off first to avoid as much interest that you have accrued as possible before trying to chase a welcome offer.

Based on the DP's you have provide with a 2/24 status you most likely would be approved imo but of course only Chase would know.
Chase does have some rules with applying in xx amount of days of another card opening so you will want to research that as I can't remember what it is.

You should wait until a year has passed before downgrading or closing the premier.

I think this welcome offer will be around for awhile yet as it is a new card.

Isn't 850 the max credit score? Maybe sign up for Experian to see what they said your score is, if you haven't already.
I haven't paid credit card interest in 10+ years because I pay it off every month, so Chase is willing to extend cards in those situations. Calling them might get you an approval.
The 851 score comes directly from the Chase denial letter which is my Experian score....the problem is I have no revolving debt other than the 1 credit card that I have which I pay off in full every month. I'm 68...work full time...have a six figure salary and have spent the last 10 years getting out of debt so I would be debt free going into retirement. BYW, the 1 credit card that I do have is a Chase Disney card. I guess I'm good enough for 1 card...but not the Inspire card

Maybe ask for an upgrade then, or reconsideration.

Not sure if anyone would know yet, but if I use the inspire card to purchase APs would that qualify for BOTH the $300 statement credit for 1k spent in the first 3 mths AND the $100 statement credit for ticket purchase? TIA

It has been confirmed that AP's count towards the $100 ticket credit.

It doesn't matter what you put on your card as soon as you spend $1,000 you will receive the $300 credit.
Obviously you are going to want to place spend with the higher bonus categories such as gas or Disney (3x) to get the most bang for your buck to get the bonus.

So if you are buying 1 Pixie pass and nothing else in the next 3 months you would receive 3x on that purchase and receive a $100 Ticket credit but not the $300 Welcome offer.
If you are buying a Sorcerer or Incredi-Pass those are over $1,000 so in addition to the 3x disney dollars you would earn both the $100 Ticket Credit and the $300 Welcome offer.

I should have specified Sorcerer pass, lol. Thanks for the reply!

Applied for the card and got the dreaded “we need more time” response. I am a longtime Chase customer, never pay late, never carry a balance, and definitely within the 5/24 limits. I have all kinds of preapprovals sitting in my offers.

The only thing I suspect is maybe I have too much available credit on my other Chase personal cards. I’ve never once requested an increase or even come close to the limits, but it hasn’t stopped them from increasing them. Has anyone had any luck convincing Chase to just reallocate existing credit to get the card open?

Yes that is something they can do if that’s the reason.

I’m watching this part closely, 1st transaction was $2k+ WDW Travel Pckg, can see stmt credit for $300, but not seeing $200 rewards for Disney purchase. (Immediately received the $300 Gift Card at approval). Curious if buried in the fine print is a limitation on “stacking” or an “either-or” for $200 or 6 mos, so a delay to see if pckg is paid in full or spread out. Another interesting tidbit, it looks like stmt date is end of month. With first being end of March - so a long first cycle. Card opened 2/5.

Card approved Feb 11. First payment is scheduled for Apr 7.

I am another of our test cases. My $2k+ purchase was Disney Dining Plan on a DVC stay. Same here: instant $300 statement credit and we will see about that $200 bonus.

Empirical finance!

Chase has never prevent you from stacking on any other cards.

Their spiel is that it can take 6-8 weeks.

Have you clicked on the "Redeem Section" and looked to see if it was in the Pending section?

Rewards Dollars even though earned per transaction are never useable until the post to your account which happens at statement close.

Yes, I’m only seeing the % earnings (pending). I’m glad for the longer cycle as it will cover all our charges while we’re there too. So I’m not stressing, just watching - 20+ years in Fin Serv has taught me a lot of ins ands outs of cc rewards 🤣
