New disney tickets - paper or plastic?

Reading the main DIS boards it seems that the new Ultimate or MYW tickets are paper ones and not plastic like credit cards.

Can anyone that has ordered and received disney tickets this year, tell me which they are?

TIA

Claire

Last week our Ultimate 14 day tickets arrived from Attraction Tickets Direct and they are thin cardboard - like a train ticket I suppose.
For £159 I might have expected something a bit fancier but I guess they'll do the job.

I must say I was disappointed when I'd spent over $2,000 on PAPs for me & my children to only get thin bits of cardboard. Could it be because if they changed to plastic they'd have to upgrade all the Fastpass machines, entrances etc to accept them??

hi there

Is it different if you stay on site, cause our old plastic ones from 2002 doubled up as rooms keys too, as well as the pass

Steve

I agree it's a bit of a let down after spending a lot of money on tickets just to get plastic covered card :(

Having said that, the tickets do seem to hold up very well with daily use. It would be nice though to have something a bit more substantial :)

I take it the tickets are the same as the old hopper passes.

These held up well but I was always wary of keeping them dry and not bending them.

Something more sturdy doesn't seem too much to ask.

Well going from the replies here as well as reading stuff on the main DIS boards, it does seem that you only get plastic cards if you book direct with disney and have a room and ticket package! We had the plastic ones on our first trip booking through Virgin but staying on site and taking the ticket included option, but it seems now that even if you book through Virgin and take the disney tickets through them, they send you cardboard/paper passes through the post!

When I looked on the Disney site both UK and US, they won't actually allow you to book a room+ticket package for more than 8 nights! It's crazy!

Hi,

I know , what is it and the maximum 8 night rule. Really annoying. Anyone know why?

Steve

You can book more than 7 days. I have. We're going for 8 days. You have to call Disney directly though. The CRO CM said that the webmaster(s) haven't got that option available yet and their not sure when it will be.

yes we have 21 day ultimate tickets and they are very thin card..how they're going to last 3 weeks i am not sure..
the daft thing is i have booked cirque du soleil tickets for one evening,,they have arrived and guess what they are lovely plastic credit card look a likes. wheres the logic.

hi

when we stayed onsite last year our tickets were our room keys which were plastic and were accepted by the fast pass machines just fine. they were really good and we could use them like credit cards and charge stuff to our rooms too.

I finally dug out our MYW tickets. They are 10 day tickets with the 5 options. They are plastic not paper.
