New Disney Ships: News, Rumors, Speculation.....and Names!

Pixar doesnt do songs. Not disney.
Not every Disney movie (animated) is a musical- Black Cauldron, Rescuers Down Under, Dinosaur, Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Chicken Little, Home on the Range, Meet the Robinsons, Bolt, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, Strange World, Raya. Wreck It Ralph, Ralph Breaks the Internet are not musicals. I might be able to think of more.

Which is what I assume you mean by no song because my family sings quite a few Pixar songs all the time- Can't Let You Throw Yourself Away, We Belong Together, Time of Your Life, Steal the Show, and Carried Me with You are HUGE favs in this household.

Edited to add: 101 Dalmatians is also not a musical even through it has a great song in it. Bambi has lots of music but it would be closer IMO to how Pixar does music. The characters aren't singing. Fox & the Hound is the same. Emperor's New Groove also not a musical (was supposed to be and that doc is worth watching).

Sure they do. The first Pixar movie, Toy Story, has a wonderful soundtrack. That continued with all of their releases.
Sorry when i meant songs i meant characters singing songs. Thats not toy story.

Nearly all of disneys great animated movies are musicals. Thats the distinguishing feature of disney.

A Mulan dinner show could work.

The issue with Mulan for a theater show is the music is only really in the first half with a reprise and a credit song later on. A Girl Worth Fighting For being the moment where it goes from hijinks to realizing the little girl who "lost her doll" was a girl worth fighting for. I love the film but it might be hard to capture on stage since it gets somber fast. Also I wonder how many people will be up in arms about Mulan dressing as a man or her fellow soldiers later dressing as women. I could see DCL trying to not open that can of worms right now.
Yeah they would have to add a couple of new songs. But the songs mulan does have are all big show stoppers.

And none of those movies appeal to me. They are either the b grades of disney or side projects and not what makes disney disney.

Disney is frozen, aladdin, snow white, cinderella, tangled, peter pan, beauty and the beast, lion king, alice and wonderland, pinnochio, dumbo, mulan, little mermaid. These are the movies that define disney. And nearly all of them are musicals.

You are cherry picking what is and isn't Disney when Disney made plenty of animated films that were not musicals? I mean... if it's not "Disney" to you, okay but they were made by Disney Animation. That is just a fact.

Im cherry picking the good ones vs the bad ones. And yes im aware this is subjective. But the good ones have similar characteristics and therefore those similar characteristics is what defines what is good about disney to me. And pixar doesnt have that characteristic. It doesnt mean pixar doesnt have its own good attributes. But they are different to disney.

I really hope this ship gets to North America someday so I can see it and sail her. Right now the flight to get there scares me.

There has been an update to the navigator DCL app. Now you can see some of your past cruises along with your current reservations on one list in the app.
I just checked it out and for our recent cruise I now have a link in there to download our folio and for downloading pictures. That’s good to have!

This sounds like a worthwhile update but they rolled it out about 30m into my advance booking window opening. I had finished the must-dos, but was annoyed at like 12:30AM to suddenly be told I needed to reinstall the app to continue. I can’t imagine how I would feel if I was 95% of the way through check-in.

Flights come to an end. But if you're willing to confront a fear, the world opens up. It's worth it.
Oh I fly, it's the 23 hour flight and changing planes and that situation. In 2022 we were stuck in Lisbon airport for 23 hours and fed lies and had lost luggage and no clothes for our 12 night Mediterranean cruise. I'm not over that nightmare just yet.

According to the Meyer Werft Meyer Werft press document with a creation date of April 8, 2025 the hull numbers for the new ships are as follows:

Wish Class

N.N. Class

  • N.N. 2029 – s.731
  • N.N. 2030 – s.732
  • N.N. 2031 – s.733
Meyer Werft DCL OLC Ship Reference May 2025

All ship names, design plans and itineraries are still in development, with each of the ships expected to have their own unique experiences. The three vessels in Disney’s new ship class (rumored to be called the Meridian Class) will feature industry-leading technology and design to expand Disney Cruise Line’s global reach and support its environmental goals. Able to carry 3,000 Guests and measuring approximately 100,000 gross tons, they will be 20 percent larger than the Disney Magic class and smaller than the Disney Dream and Disney Wish classes, ultimately allowing Disney Cruise Line to access more ports and destinations across the globe, bringing its world-class entertainment, incredible dining, Guest service, and uniquely Disney experiences to more families in more places. The three ships are planned for delivery in 2029, 2030 and 2031.
