Whelp. I’m stupid. Work so hard for years to play the DGC game to save a few bucks and on my first day of my Disney trip I lost a brand new $500 card I just bought from BJs. Normally would put it on the site but of course I was in a rush and didn’t. Think I dropped it at HS but could’ve been anywhere between BC and there. Put in a claim with lost and found but have ZERO chance of that working out. At this point trying not to let it ruin my mood for rest of trip but oof…keep beating myself up over it.

ooooh NO! just bought 2 $100 ones the BJ's recepit only shows the last 4 #'s of the GC
not sure if your credit card would cover lost or stole items? & even if it does, woudl it cover gift cards?

Next time (I know). Keep a copy of the card number and the code thing in a note or sheet or something on your phone. We do this because of mobile order anyway.

Then you could quick grab a $5 gift card and move the money over.

One time my husband left $3000k of Airbnb gift cards in the shopping cart and made his way home.
We tried every which way, but loose, to remedy the situation. Nobody was able to help. Not the grocery store (Kroger). Not Airbnb. Nobody.
I'm thankful that, for you, it was $500 and not $3000. Life happens -- I know that it's a loss, but please enjoy your trip!!

Another strategy - buy a $25 e-DGC from the Disney Store and get it into your Apple/Google Wallet. Then, transfer any physical gift card balances to that one. Then, you never have to carry around a physical gift card you could lose.

So sorry this happened, I know that can be gutting to lose. One thing I know many of us do is to purchase physical DGCs from DisneyStore or sometimes in person at the parks. These gift cards usually have a scannable code (qr code?) on the back that can be scanned rather than swiped, which I like because you can also use that scannable code to scan the gift card for mobile order.

Then I usually try to buy all electronic DGCs at a discount and combine them onto one of the physical gift cards or if I have to buy physical cards, I manually combine or transfer onto one of the scannable code physical cards.

I know hindsight is 20/20, but I also take all of the card numbers for the physical cards and put them into my password vault. So if I ever lose a card (its happened to me before), I can use the DGC website to move the funds off of the card and onto a different card.

Its feasible the card fell out somewhere that nobody else could pick up, like on a ride or something - so maybe when you get home you'll be able to get the card number and move the funds onto another card.

Yup love the scramble ones for easy scanning. And I always combine to an old card just so happens this ONE time I was in a rush and didn’t bother with it since I figured I’d be using it for dinner a few nights in a row. Drop the ball one time and that’s what happens! Yeah hopefully maybe it’s just lost and not picked up and used. I went to guest services at HS just before and they said since I put in a claim that’s the only way to handle it now so can’t see if it turned up there since yesterday. Again…this is a slap my forehead so stupid moment just gotta deal with! Blech. And don’t think I didn’t just skip meals and drinks I would’ve had otherwise to mentally start making up for the 500! lol. My kid can get what he wants but I’m on austerity!

I bought a $50DGC a few weeks ago, left it on the kitchen table (my beagle does not usually take things from the table!), to bring in the rest of the groceries and my beagle had eaten the GC, GC receipt, and the store grocery receipt literally only one little corner remained to even show it existed!

I’m still hoping it turns up for you. Like the many times I have panicked thinking I had left a credit card somewhere only to find it in a place I don’t normally put it.

Just checked mine. I have it but fine print says gift card purchases are not eligible. Maybe they wouldn’t be able to tell with an in-store purchase? If anyone tries it, let us know whether a in-store GC purchase worked.
