I can tell you one thing...if Disney does not come out with January discounts this week, that's it for us buying AP. I know room discounts aren't guarenteed, but with what Disney is charging for Annual Passes this year, we can save as much if not more with a GP code. After the price increase this year, no AP discount with so little time before our Jan. vacation is very frustrating. It's bad enough we never qualified for Bounce Back because we always go the beginning of the year and the offers never extended into the next year when we went. Okay, rant fest over, after all, Disney still has a few days to drop some pixie dust on us.

Like you we have been waiting for AP rates. Our current passes have just expired, but we have booked a January room only using the current general public offer. The availability of an AP rate will determine whether we get new passes and take another trip to Disney next year or if we just have this one trip with park hoppers.
We're hoping we'll be able to justify that second trip.

I know a lot of people say the savings are in the entrance to the parks, but at the new AP rates, that's not always the case for guests who can only fly in for a couple of vacations during the passes dates, especially with the airfare being up too. Airline tickets were $447 per person this year for us, that is an increase of almost 30% from our last trip. AP are great if you can be a weekend warrior or get Fl resident rates, but they are close to being out of our comfort zone. I could go with GP deals and not have the risk of maybe not taking a second trip if something came up and having the first trip tics cost us a fortune. Sad, because I really enjoyed being a pass holder all these years. I called today...nothing. The Thursday after the 15th of Nov. has been when RO has come out lately. I was hoping...

So the AP rates are out. Now my wife and I will need to decide.

The discount on moderates is a very decent 35%, 5% better than the GP. Over our 12 nights that's an additional savings of about $117. The difference in price between two AP's and two 10-day parkhoppers is around $460, but include in the difference in room price than we're only talking a $343 total difference and we would have tickets for a second trip.

I would recommend to anyone that this is a good deal. We are hesitating. Maybe it's because we're thinking of the people we know here in the NY area that have lost everything to the recent storms. Planning a Second trip to Disney is becoming to seem to us as a bit too frivilous and that perhaps more of our limited resources should go to supporting them.

Anyway, the AP rates are out. The book by 1/1/2013 rates are better than the ones you get after that date and there are some blacked out dates.

Just wondering, recent disney addict, we are planning to go for 9 days. Would be interesting to see how much an annual pass is (I am assuming thats what AP stands for, you all have so many short forms here )

Glad you found it ($611 per regular AP). A correction to my earlier post, the difference in price between 10-day park hoppers and two AP's is $424. Minus the room savings the difference between park hoppers and AP's is $307.

The break-even cost-wise just in admission is around 12 days so as long as you're going to go back after your 9-day trip it would probably pay to get AP's.

After some deliberations we decided to go with the AP's and to plan to go back some time within the year.

To make AP discounts work, you either need to take one 14 day trip or plan on 2 7 day trips. It makes AP discounts work so well for trips. Disney's discounts on hotel, food and beverage has dropped off significantly over the last few years so you really need to do a cost analysis before making the AP purchase. As a local, the AP just makes sense. I started buying the AP when I was NOT a local because I would make more than one trip a year. Prices have changed enough that I question my decision to purchase the annual every year. Just know your numbers folks. . .that should be your deciding factor.

Me!!!!! Have 2 trips to plan in 2013 and the lack of discounts is getting beyond annoying.
