New Discounts 8-16-10

We received at least 7 Monster Pins back when they were coming out and we couldn't take advantage of it at the time. Now some things in our life have changed and I would love to be able to plan a trip before the year is out. I've already been on the Disney site pricing out various options and figuring out possible discounts.

I would think the week starting March 12th would be considered Spring Break as that is when Peak Season begins in the resorts....which is of course when I am going...however.....they have been offering free dining throughout the summer when rates are even higher so don't know why they would not offer the spring break crowds a little incentive.

When looking at rack rates here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/disney-rates-2010.htm It lists "Easter" but not "Spring Break". It lists Easter as March 28th-April 10th for 2010 on the rates chart. Seeing as Easter Sunday was on April 4th, it appears that Disney considers the week before and the week after Easter as Spring Break. If this is how Disney designates Spring Break, then it will fall from April 17th-May 1st for 2011, as Easter Sunday is April 24th.

I would be shocked if WDW offered free dining all the way until 9/2011 at this point but that would be great.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for free dining! That will save us a bundle! My husband and I were talking about how great it would be if they extended the FD through our trip (we are planning for the week before or the week after Presidents day weekend). So needless to say, we are excited and anxious for Monday to come - along with everyone else!

The balckout period I read about would that possibly include the week before Christmas...that's when we're thinking of going...:wizard:

Hoping for some kind of discount on 10/9 to 10/12 of this year but a bit doubtful as it is Columbus Day weekend.

When I tried to book a room with DVC they said they are sold out at all resorts on studios and one bedrooms on those dates. He mentioned something about some states now having a fall break (like spring break) so they are crazy busy even without FD available that week. Does anyone know anything about this? We've always gone this week as it is our anniversary but never had trouble getting a room before.

Thanks for any insight.

AND fingers crossed for us all!

If they let me keep the free dining AND get the discount on an upgrade to deluxe I'll do it, otherwise I'm content with what I've already got.

BTW if anyone is interested, I did some calculations and found that the free dining will probably represent better value, at least in my case and most likely for others as well. I figured that even if we didn't get as much value out of free dining as we plan to (unlikely ;)), it will still be about $50-60/night cheaper with the free dining option than with a room discount.

I believe spring break season stats March 12th and carries over to Easter. We are booked March 5-12. We switch from regular season rates to peak rates on the 12th.

We are 2A 1C. Dining for us is about $750 for 7 nights. Room only at 30% for a mod. would only be about $450. FD is definitely a better value for us. It will be much closer to even with 40% off a deluxe.

Passover is the week before Easter I do believe.

Peak season also includes Feb 17-26; would this likely be considered Spring Break time as well?
I'd be shocked (and very happy) to see free dining offered for this time, though I don't believe it has ever happened. Here's hoping for at least a room only discount :worship:

Feb 21st is presidents day. that would be peak season as most schools, at least up north, are off that week.

Oh, yikes. I had myself convinced we would skip Disney in 2011 and go to California in the summer of 2011. Looks like I might be tempted, or worse, have to make a decision. Unfortunately, we're going to be out of town on Monday and won't be able to get on line until late if at all, but as soon as I can, I'll be checking to see what's up.

SUBBING:goodvibes Wonder if my boss will notice the disney website minimized on my computer all day Monday???:surfweb:

Yeah, I might have to come down with some sort of Disneyitis on Monday morning! ;)

Anything can happen, I guess. Remember last summer, when we were all hoping for FD and they had some sillt 30% room offer and we all freaked.:happytv:

I for one, hope this one is right on the money. I have a room booked for jan-feb and I hope to take advantage.

We're hoping for an early August 2011 trip. Some summer dates will have a black out, but I'm hoping that FD or a room discount will come our way.

Tomorrow (Monday) might be the big day!
I am very anxious to see if there will be discounts offered as rumoured for 2011!

Was just on Disney's website and the current offer that is listed states "no longer available." Something should happen soon. We have reservations for end of October booked that I can't wait to modify! :thumbsup2

Sorry if this has already been addressed but I can't find it....

When are the discounts usually announced? Midnight? Early Morning? ???
Tomorrow is my kids first day of school so I want to make sure I don't miss it.

Thanks everyone! Have a wonderful Sunday!:goodvibes
