New Contemporary Resort Monorail/Incredibles Room Theme Announced - With Pictures

I replied earlier but then found out we are extending our WDW/DCL trip this Feb 2022 and the members of my party are REALLY wanting to add a single night at the contemporary at the end of the cruise I've never stayed at the contemporary and watching the fireworks from the balcony there is on my bucket list so I'm in.

I know I mentioned earlier I'm really unsure how I feel about it. I love bringing a touch of characters into the higher value resorts as me personally with 3 small kids I'd never pick one of the lux resorts even tho I could afford it because there is very little disney in them. I really appriciate bringing some of disney into these resorts.

The color scheme I'm not a huge fan of and I think it could have been done better but I'm still excited to go. It will be interesting too because we are staying at Pop Century for the first time this trip for the main WDW trip so I'll be able to really get a feel for if the Contemporary really has the "value resort" feel with the new color schemes.

Well that is if they're all updated by then.

I mentioned this on another thread. I dislike this new room style. It pains me to say that because the Incredibles are my favorite newer Disney franchise, way more than Frozen, Toy Story, etc. I simply do not understand why WDW wouldn't use Mary Blair's concept artwork incorporate it into a modern, sleek design of furnishings and colors. WDW is literally sitting on a gold mine of an artist's work and why not incorporate it into the CR. It's mind-boggling to me, especially when they used Salvador Dali's artistic themes and colors of Destino for the GDT at CSR?

The CR is an original property. Mary Blair is a Disney original. Her art is prominently featured in the concourse. It seems only natural then to modernize the rooms with accents of her concept art in and around the rooms. Plenty of IP to choose from too, Cinderella, Lady & The Tramp, IASW, Fantasia, Alice in Wonderland, etc.

No room at Disney is worth $700+. Let's be real. Incredibles theme or not.

Personally when booking a Disney resort the way the room looks is way on the bottom of the list of what I'm worried about. I'm more of an amenities person. Pool, resort theme, restaurants, location, room size, bed size, sleeping surfaces, bathroom situation, etc. But as long as the room is new/newish, clean and comfy I'm usually good. For instance, WL rooms seem "dark" to me and not my kind of rooms, but I do want to stay there during Christmas sometime and I will no matter what the room looks like.

The rooms at CR don't wow me but I don't think they are awful either. It's not enough to deter me from staying there if I wanted to stay there. I do think they go with the contemporary theme. They can't please everyone.

yeah I don't like the current prices. I'm booked for 50th and we're going. But in the future I am probably going to rent a car and stay offsite unless there is a good deal happening because I do like the Disney bubble. But I have my price limits and we have reached them.

...or you could save some money by booking a reservation for dinner at the California Grill and watching the fireworks from there. It is a must-do experience for my family on every trip.

With the ages of our kids a fine dining experience is really out of the cards for a while. We usually get a couple nicer meals each trip but not that nice. My husband and I take off and do a nicer dinner at some point during our trip but my husband really likes the restaurant at AK resort.

Look around to room with an eye to what could be done at the first soft goods refurbishment.

Change color and textures of the couch, swap the lamps, change the rug, change the widow sheers and finally just remove the stick-on in the back of the closet. No real changes needed to the bathroom space.

Note: on Business room layout, back in the mid 2000's they had a very functional glass desk that even included a desktop computer between one of the beds and the bathroom wall. It was externally business friendly when I attended 2 conferences in 2007 and 2008.

The colors, the style of the furniture, the stupid shape to the contraption they put in front of the window.
.

I love the "contraption" in front of the window. It will help make the room darker at night and early in the morning and possibly for an afternoon nap

LOL. But, I think different wings could have been themed a different monorail train "color". Have art in the room with the monorail quote (stand clear ....)?
I like the Incredibles movies, but the theming could get stale fast. But, what do i know?
You are a genius! I love this idea !!

The wall is just covering around the edges where the curtains let light in. I like it.
Fair enough, we just stayed at CR the week before they closed the other half of the tower - the only issue we had with any light was the opening at the middle of the curtain... We're going to start packing bag clips just to keep the curtains sealed.

I use the hotel hangers that have the skirt/pants clips on them for that. That way I don’t have to remember to bring them or worry about forgetting them.

Same problem. That’s actually a really good idea.

Which half are they working on now?
