Taken from another forum.......

Remember these are RUMORS and have not been confirmed with a second source as of yet.

1) With the exception of Cruise sales, all DVC sales units have missed their goals for the year. Jim Lewis is very unhappy. Many Guides believe the problem was caused by Jim Lewis' choice of Steve Harvey (I don't know this person by name) as the lead advertising focus of last year. Apparently his demographics cannot affort the DVC, despite stong interest, and many have been declined for Disney financing (almost unheard of!). And guess what? supposedly, they just renewed their 'contract' with Mr. Harvey for next year!

2) NYC sales center is gonna happen soon, and may be in Northern New Jersey versus NYC proper. The IL and NY centers have been getting the best sales incentives even though it costs much more to sell at those locations than via the telephone sales-guide system. Some animosity is developing between these sales branches.

3) A bigwig on the BLT steering committee has a serious health problem that has required long hospitalizations and has thrown all schedules out the door. Guides who were told not to vacation in June and July, are again being told to vacation immediatly or not at all.

4) So, with disappointing 2007 FY sales, October 1st (Disney's next FY) is looking out to be the sales date (back to our original prediction nearly a half a year ago....... BUT many senior agents expect sales to begin on the Member's Cruise this September. DC just doesn't know. Also, BLT has *NOT* been declared part of DVC internally yet, despite the take out restaurant reported in the Sentinal.

5) Now the bad news....... Price per point *RUMORED* originally to have been $180 per point. That is not a typo. Management feels they could have sold out at that level last year (before the credit/mortgage crunch) became known. DC feels the delay in starting sales may even extend to the election. He expects points to go for $140.00pp PLUS. I hope he is wrong!

6) This is a direct Jim Lewis quote, "...Get ready because sales will be announced one week before sales start, and DVC Owners will have only one week to purchase before BLT is offered to the general public..." Now that seems to be a confirmation of BLTs DVC status to me, but hey I wasn't at this meeting.

7) Project Crystal is the current 'code' name for DVC at the contemporary.

DH and I made a deal, I got AKL and he got BLT. At that price he will refuse to buy. So it looks like I will get more AKL.

 I can't believe those numbers! A person has got to REALLY want that Monorail access, I guess.

If it ends up being that much...I'm SO GLAD I'm happy to stay and buy elsewhere!!:goodvibes

If all this is true, then wow, that's steep and I'm glad we're happy with BWV.

Hmmm....resales (and maybe incentives) a year from now should be interesting.

DH and I wanted to buy into DVC because of BLT. If that is the price per point and we'd need a minimum of 160 - that is almost 23K. Not to mention maintainence fees being on the monorail AND if it costs more points for a studio or one-bedroom at BLT.

For 23K I could stay at a monorail resort with a pin code (which I am always lucky enough to get) for the next ten years!

If this is true, we may not be buying DVC after all.

I just don't see them selling BLT for $140 per point come October 1st.

This is either Tony or DC pulling our leg, or maybe DVC is just floating this rumored price of $140+ per point through the DVC community to help push AKV sales? It would certainly help them reach their sales targets for this fiscal year.

How many members would add-on at BLT at $140-$180 per point?

If it does actually happen, it would help drive up resale values.

Maybe. Or, it creates two de facto point systems---if the price differential is large enough, the only people buying BLT are those intending never to stay anywhere else in system. I don't think they could pull system-wide pricing at "sold out" resorts close to that level in the current market.

I would have expected much higher per-night point costs, rather than a huge jump in $pp. That way, DVD can still soak the monorail enthusiasts without upsetting the rest of the system's pricing too broadly.

I agree, the price is outrageous and way out of line with the current economy as well as the price resales are going for.

BUT....

What if BLT's maintenance fees are incredibly low? If it's a mixed use building as has been rumored, and if the marginal cost of monorail usage is very low, then it's possible the MFs could be low.

We all know that the MFs are the biggest part of the total cost of DVC over time.

How much more would you pay up front if the MFs were, say, half that of anywhere else?

Maybe in constant-dollar terms, but depending on how you account for lost opportunity on your capital invested, that capital outlay is also a very significant cost.

We haven't seen the "official" point chart, yet. They may be outrageous, too.

If those prices are true that is sad news indeed. I was at one point so excited about BLT I could barely stand it. I called my guide and asked for him to call me the moment points went on sale. I set up a special savings account and have been madly saving so I would be ready to buy when the time came. I searched the internet for new pictures and updates. I just couldn't wait for the announcement. Now I don't know how I feel. I know that I for sure won't be buying if the points are priced any where near $140. Its just plain sad. Its getting so expensive to go to WDW as it is. We are taking 7 family members down in November for a family reunion, everyone is so excited but now that we are buying tickets and planning for F&W events everyone is getting less excited. We have annual passes and forget that people have to buy tickets and didn't realize just how much this was all going to cost. The F&W events are getting more costly and the no cancellation policy makes it really difficult to take the risk and book something that for some unforseen reason may have to be cancelled. I don't know, it just makes me sad.

:sad1:

What in the world could BLT offer to make it worth that kind of money and possibly major points? There's got to be more than monorail access and MK views!!!

So I am guessing if a non-BLT owner would like to stay at BLT the points/night will be real high......40% higher poins than BCV, BWV and VWL???
