Is the new AP option available to all DVC owners or only those that bought their membership direct?

Options like the AP passes for DVC have been only for those with the Blue Card (direct membership). I haven't seen that specifically spelled out yet, but I'd be very surprised if that's not the case.

I'm sure you're right though I haven't seen that pesky asterisk anywhere so was kind of hoping to be wrong! :)

It's on the members' website. The Sorcerer's AP is only available as a "Members Extra", which is essentially anyone with a blue card.

There are some resale members who bought their contracts before the blue card restriction went into effect and they qualify. There are also some direct purchasers who did not buy the minimum number of direct points to qualify for a blue card (currently set at 150 direct points, at one time it was only 25). Those owners who didn't get the minimum number purchased before direct minimums were changed are not blue card members.

Does anyone happen to know….Does someone with a Blue Card have the ability to ‘gift’ the Sorcerer AP to someone that is not a Blue Card member?

No. They must be a blue card DVC member when they activate the AP. You have to show your blue card and a photo ID.

To add, it is only valid for those in the same household as the owners. So, children of owners are eligible as long as they have the same address as the owners..

Add on question to the information you gave above... We're going this upcoming March and my daughter will be turning 18 four months before we arrive (she's 18 in November.) Will this cause any issues with activating her Sorcerer's AP?

As long as her legal address is the same as your address, she is eligible. There is no age limit on how long a child can still get the pass. So, my youngest was still getting a pass until she was 23 as she still lived with us while finishing up college.

Oh, perfect! Thank you so much!

When you first go to a park ticket booth to activate the passes, they usually require IDs from all adults (18 or over) and the IDs need to show the same address as the member. They usually do not require IDs from children under 18.

As noted there is no age limit to getting the pass, just the same residence limit and thus if a grandparent is living with the member, the member can purchase the discounted pass for that grandparent. However, there has in the past been an eight total family limit.

When you sign into your DVC acct click the banner that says "Park passes are back". Click WDW annual pass to read more. Scroll down and you will see where it mentions that Sorcerer pass is Blue Card members .
