FRED! You have my sympathies. Don't you just hate it when that happens? One year it came very close to happening to us. Back in 2000, we invited my inlaws, and they ALMOST invited my DH's sister and her family to come along. THANK GOD we caught them before they actually did. Just remember, just because they're there, doesn't mean your family has to spend all your time with the whole group. :) Hope it works out ok for you.

There are extra people planning on coming along when we go, also. We are not going to spend all our time together. Did that once and it turned out to be a disaster. Everyone spends one day together, and the other days are each group goes where ever they want. Of course nobody goes alone. But there are enough of us to go different places in small groups. Your bil and sis might want to go off on their own part of the time. We made that "rule" in our group. A little pixie dust is all you need, and everybody will be happy. Disney is just a happy place! ;)

Mermaid 3-he actually bought the snowglobe from Ebay.
But I did see them in the store last week.
It has the lodge inside the globe and the windows light up. It doesnt play any music though, but it is beautiful.

Janice

I am originally from Eureka, south of Chicago near Bloomington and my oldest DD lived in Oak Park. In 1985 she got me Bear playoff tickets for my Birthday from her Boss. Still in my top ten things I have done.

What caused the power outage?

You mentioned the rain while you were there, but folks at WDW the last two days can’t be happy campers as it has not stopped. We had over 3 inches yesterday and looks like 1 to 2 today.

Evidently you hate ponchos as much as I do. Since I golf and fish I take my wet suit. You can pick them up at Bass Pro or any Golf Pro Shop. Kind of expensive, for a good one, but they are light, comfortable and most important dry. Roll up in a pouch so don’t take up a lot of room in the bag.

:D I am smiling at the question does anyone have things in their home to remind them of the Lodge............i have a stick pine Christmas tree that i never take down right here by my roll top desk. it has bear and moose and pine cones as well as my Disney ornament given us last Christmas by a very special CM who will remain nameless but ever close to our hearts......

In reading that the Lodge is fully booked I can only pray that there will be one room left for my hubby and me when I finally finish 8-12 weeks of therapy following my total knee replacement on 9/4. I am taking pictures of the Lodge with me to rehab to make me want to keep moving. Hubby has promised me that when I am able he will take me to the Lodge for my present. We had to cancel in May due to the knee arthroscopy.......Just as a funny I must tell you that we got the Disney Visa where the kid tells Mickey, "You'll never know what I had to do to get here." Well.this week I put the hospital charges from my first surgery on that Visa and then wrote the check to Visa. I'll bet I am the first person to get there on medical bills LOL........Think that 2 surgeries in 3 months will get me a hug from Mickey??? Pray there is one room left for me when i am able.....

I will not only pray there is a room, but that you run the jogging trail when you get there. PD & {{{HUGS}}}

The room all book was a joke for Fred.

Lou-Ann, two surgeries in three months will get hugs from us too. Hope you recover soon. Hey, maybe if you get to go in December we will meet. My DH and I are going 12/11 till 12/17 now that i am working again and starting to get back on our feet.

Speaking about disney decorations in the home. Our whole living room is dedicated to disney. on our honeymoom we bought a sericel of donald and daisy from fantasia 2000 (very special to our hearts) and a poster of all the good guys around the 100 birthday cake. we have them on our walls, also our sil bought us a tapestry of the tree of life and we have that also on the wall. i have a whole curio cabinet full of disney memorabilia from way back. since our wedding was based on cinderella my dh buys me cinderella snow globes for special occasions. we framed our special pins. we eventually want to get a mickey border for the walls and we saw a stamp of the mickey head that we want to put around the house (you know, hidden mickey's). we thought that would be fun.

also, i just got my bathroom fixed up with minnie and mickey, aloha style (gift for my birthday).

we have pictures of the wilderness lodge all over. and my dining room is done up in "moose". we bought the moose placemats from the wilderness lodge mercantile. also anything else "moose" that they had.

hey all, what about christmas? do you decorate your house or your tree in disney? we collect ornaments once a year as momentos to decorate the tree.

fred, also, there are lots of places to hide in the wilderness lodge, lol. :D just remember keep your heart like the heart of a child and you will have the best time.

floridacat - i keep meaning to tell you. i copied your little picture of tink and i put it in a small frame. i keep it on my desk to remind me of the pixie dust and magic. it's the little things, you know. :D thanks.

makes you smile. :D

Thanks for sharing that. How is th new job going? I was sure happy for you that you found something.
Sure wish I could find something part time. but it is tough.

the job is going just great. i can't believe it is such a perfect match for me. God is good. Prayer works. i work in the IT Operations department. the people are great and fun to work with. will be starting training soon to be PC Liaison for the department. i'm working on this weekend to get some disney stuff together to decorate my office.

here's hoping you can find something soon. has ratpack found anything yet. the company i am with just got the ok to start opening up job requisitions so maybe that is a good sign that things are looking up. :D

pixie dust and blessings to all. :D

FloridaCat-we never did find out what caused the power outage-it only affected the WL.
We were just glad they fixed it before too long.

...is it just me, or does it seem like gasoline prices seem to be going up a couple 'o cents EVERY 2 OR 3 HOURS?@?!??!#!@??!

(BTW FC, I like your suggestion to Fred:D !)

(WOOHOO!! Just noticed I hit 4K posts!!)

went up here within the hour. On my way to church, I didn't stop for gas, I intended to stop on the way back. Within that one hour the price went up 3 cents!

I think it's because Labor Day is right around the corner... Holiday's equal higher prices.... Gas went up 8 cents in a couple of days up here at BJ's... regular gas stations went up 20 cents... I think it's price gouging, but who can prove it... the gas we're getting now has been sitting out on the tankers for months waiting for delivery to the ports... those gas companies know they're gouging us and they're still sleeping comfortably at night!!

We wondered about the power outage, but never found out the cause.

We had been at MGM on Sunday 8/17 and came back to the Lodge around 6 pm. The pool was closed and none of the elevators were working, but the power had not been off in our room and RF was open. We found DH and son at the villas pool, which was open.

Considering the East Coast Power outage several days prior, and the fact that we'd been to MGM and ridden Tower of Terror twice that day, it was a little eerie to come back and find the elevators not operating and the pool completely empty!

a power outage on my trip to DW in 1991. Our hotel was in the dark and I remember having to take a lighter into the bathroom to see where I was going. We were on the first floor, so we didn't have to worry about the elevators, but it was scary.

Noticed you had a new photo in your Hugh lineup, Kimmar! Nice one!!!

no need to worry about a power failure at WDW. They have their own generating station.....:p !

Yeah, Hugh kinda has that "bad boy" look!! Oh, Fre-edddddd....:D !

(Your pic is a "keeper", too!)

Lou Ann

I'm right there with you on the Disney VISA-

Originally I was not going to get one, but my daughter broke her ankle in 3 places in Feb., had surgery, was in the hosp. for 2 days, etc. We had a large bill to pay to the hospital, so I figured I may as well get the VISA, run the medical bills through it, and get a benefit.

By August I had $120 in dream dollars. I turned them in at the WL front desk and they went toward our room charges. Every little bit helps! :D
