"New" AK Incentive..SSR update

Ok - the saga continues now. We were just informed that "someone" screwed up in the sale to AKV to us. We ended up signing for Kidani Village and NOT the Jambo House that "they" thought we were supposed to get. After they started looking into this more "they" then determined that this apparently happened to a few more DVCer's then us.

So here is the latest - apparently "they" are trying to get an exception for us to use our 2008/2009 points now for the cruise we have scheduled this December. "They" are also going to be putting in exception requests for those DVCer's that were in the same situation as us (were told 'in so many words' Jambo house).

Now my concern is can they really make an exception like this? Aren't they "bound" to x number of points, etc. that can be redeemed and since Kidani is NOT open yet is this legal?

(I used "they" in quotations because I'm not sure who "they" refers to - our guide, Quality Assurance, paper processor, etc)

We just signed up for this new deal, and I'm still confused.

I think if you buy say 250 points, it's:

- August YU
- 250 bonus points that must be used at SS within a year
- 250 regular points that you get in July 2008 but can't be used til AKL Kidani opening in May 2009 (it's *almost* like forcing you to bank your first year's points)
- no annual fees until May '09

So, for practical purposes, after you use your SS bonus points within a year, you'll end up with 500 points in August 2009 (in reality, you'll be able to use 250 points after May '09 and another 250 points after August 1, '09).

Does that sound right?

This is probably a really good idea at this point. Even though we have an AWESOME guide, I hate to call him until after I gather my facts on the DIS!!

IMO if they just had standard incentives, this wouldn't be so confusing. Nor would you keep second guessing whether you are buying at the right time!! We were told today by our guide that if we bought today, the UY is June. We would get our 2008 points to be used after May of '09 (or banked) plus the "free" matching points that have to be used within a year at SSR or II. In addition no mf until next year. I also read a post and a link showing a gift card for a referral would still be given on top of that. Our guide has since informed us that the gift card is only available for a purchase at SSR. We went today to check into a home equity line of credit. Our newest concern is whether the bank will have our loan processed by the time DVC needs our check.

Remember..you can temporarilly put it on a credit card till the loan comes through, then pay off the card..

We did some changes during one of our add-ons. We changed things prior to sigining the papers and they simply made the changes and sent us a new set of docs to sign.

With the new incentive, the "developer points" that have to be used at SSR, do they have a 7 month booking window or can you book for anytime during the next 12 months?

I guess my biggest question is simple. Are sales that bad that they have to offer these much larger incentives? When we bought SSR last year, it was $10 off per point and nothing else!! No developer points, no $500 card, no extra anything. We still bought because we weren't in it for the incentives. We just wanted our DVC membership!

True.. our guide said something about it will take about 5 days to get the papers back and forth and then can take either 15 or 30 days? Not real clear on that but will talk to him this evening. With the year expiration date of the "free" points we are hoping to go during our dds' spring break next year which starts 3/23. Wondering now how hard to get ressies at ssr for a villa or one bedroom at that time??

We are certainly included in that as we plan disney trips with or without dvc membership and will eventually get it but don't feel the need to jump on something if a better deal is to be had. IMO nothing is worse than buying something to hear that same something was a much better deal a few days later! In fact, we thought seriously about buying a few weeks ago but didn't like the incentives and waited and now there is a better deal. The money we are saving on mf and "free" points, to us, were worth the wait.

Sounds like you've done all the homework and it will work out just fine for you.!!

You won't have a problem making ressies @ SSR and especially since your going through Disney.. very short few days wait...

Remember too that once your credit check is OK, (and in my case before the contracts went back/forth in the mail)...your guide should be/can give you your membership number, certainly before you close on the contract, so you can get those ressies made !!

I just added on 110 AKV points. These are the so-called AK2 points, for Kidani Village points. I will get points starting in UY 2009.

As it turns out, I will NOT get April 2008 UY points because there is no April UY for Kidani Village in year 2008.

I get 110 points at SSR which must be used within 12 months time. And SSR has to be booked at the 7-month point.

I'm going throw this all off now......our contract that we just purchased a few weeks ago was FEb 2008 use year to be used right away, and a $500 girt card with $8 off per point. Annual dues begin in
May of 2008. WE purchased at the Doorway to Dreams store, which is why I think we have different use years. I think we have Jambo house unit 22

Ok, so I have 150 points at BWV, Aug. UY.
I thought if I were to add-on it had to be in the same UY
So, if i want this offer, can I still just add 110 points(or less), or will it be a new "master contract", does it have to be 150 points.

Man, this is so confusing.

Suppose;
I want to add 110 AKV points.

I pay $10560 (104-8 incentive X 110)
I get a new master contract for April UY(assuming that's all I can get)
I get 110 points to use between today and 1 year from now at SSR or II
In April 08 I get my 110 points at AKV, which I can't use until May 09, so I have to bank those points.
So, in May 09 I will have 110 bank points and 110 /09 points in my AKV account(on top of what I have in my Aug UY at BWV)
