"New" AK Incentive..SSR update

I want to say again that I did not get 2008 UY points with my AK2 add on.

Hello Everyone,
So if I buy a June UY w/160 pts, I will be given 160 pts to use at SSR within a year, then I will get another set of pts to use after May 2009. So will I have a total of 480 pts. We can't go to Disney til June 2009, so if I use my SSR pts then, I would have 320 pts left.

The points to be used at SSR would have to be used within a year so if you are planning on going in June you would have to hope these incentives are still available in June and purchase then. That is how I understand those "free" points. They can't be banked.

I dont "run the numbers" as well as some on this board so I am just curious if it would be more financially beneficial to keep my money in the bank until the property is actually ready to be used. I may be missing part of the point of the incentive b/c I have gotten myself confused while reading back thru the posts. And of course having the 11 month advantage for those that already own could be beneficial when MS finally opens up the Kidani reservations. But what else would be the driving force in making the purchase now?

I got the 110 SSR points to use within the next 12 months. We're using them for a conference next year, just before the points would expire.

That makes sense (since you need them in the given time frame) but I sure wish that it was double incentive points!

Our UY is June. We will have the 210 matching points to be used at SSR or II within one year. Right now we are thinking we will go in March of '09. Then we will have our 2008 points although we will have to bank those because they can't be used until '09. Then June of '09 we get our next set of points. No MF until next year as well. Granted this was all done over the phone after numerous calls with our guide and I will be meticulously looking over the papers when we get them next week.

I bank the Developer pts, not the ones from SSR

Well the SSR points are, from what I understand, a different version of developer points because of the restriction to use them only at SSR or II. Those can't be banked. So we will bank our 2008 points and use the SSR ones first. Since I am so new to this I will have to read all the restrictions of banking. I still stick with my original posting that these changing incentives are a real drag!

You can get other use years depending on inventory.

They do have points from phase 1 available for add ons for current members. If your use year month has past, you will get the 2008 points, but not the developer points.

I've been trying to get in touch with my DVC sales rep all morning with no luck!!!! I'm looking to buy a small contract of 25-30 points at AKV either in Kidani or Jambo House with a dec UY...does anyone know if this is available? Also...you must add on to ur current UY for a small add on right?

Disney will only sell you an add-on with the same UY as your master contract. If you wanted to purchase a different UY, you would have to purchase a new master contract rather than an add-on and that would mean purchasing a minimum of 160 points.

Thanks so much for the quick reply! That's what I thought....any word on Jambo House or Kidani Village being available on a DEC UY? I don't think the Dec UY is that popular so I'm hoping it will be all set

Yes, but in that situation, one would have to pay dues on the 2008 points. I will wait a bit to see if April UY opens up at AK2 and 2008 points become available.

We got June UY and purchased ours through the Doorway to Dreams at Woodfield Mall in Illinois. Does it make a difference where you purchase them from as far as UY?
