We had a trip planned for just before Thanksgiving and had to call it off because of health problems. I have been upset because pretty much all of our trips HAVE to be last minute and I did not see how I would ever be able to get deals and go as we were used to.

Some things have happened that have bettered my health and my thoughts kept returning to Disney, what else? :confused3

I kept trying to figure out how we could still go this year but it was way past the deadline for the AP deals and reports of everything being sold out and the thoughts of all that I have to do this time of year whirled in my head until my brain finally convinced my heart that it was NOT going to happen, no way. :guilty:

I could not sleep last night and happened upon the Food Channel show of DW at the holidays. It was more than I could stand. I ended up staying up all night and first thing this morning I put my fate into the hands of the gods and called Disney reservations.

We are now booked into AS Sports from December 10th thru the 20th at a rate of $64. It was meant to be and is the best Christmas present that I could have asked for.

So, are you saying that they are now letting AP holders have last minute rates, or you had a code by your name, or you got some pixie dust thrown your way and you got a code rate without a code? Whichever it is, good for you!!

DMRick, I lucked out and got one of those fantastic email code thingies. It was $64 a night which is the same thing I think that Florida residents and others are paying.

I did not even have to envoke the code as when they called up my info it was there. You might try calling and see if maybe there is one stuck in your file somewhere.

I had been playing with the Disney.com site and saw that there were days available then. I was tempted to try for another day or so but did not want to be more greedy than I already am.

I am so excited. My husband is thrilled as well. He does not have to shop, wrap or guess at sizes. (as if he ever does) :flower:

Thanks for all your good wishes everyone and I wish I could take you all along with me.

I had been collecting small Disney items to give as gifts on our next trip and now I can use them as Christmas presents to the special people I meet in the park. I am so looking forward to it and them.

Actually I had just posted yesterday that I got an email code (mine isn't good in December), although I'm using the AP rate of $49 in January instead. You hadn't mentioned how you got your rate, so I was curious.

Rick, maybe I can use the AP rate next spring. I am just thrilled that it is possible to plan a last minute trip without breaking the bank.

Have fun and enjoy your great rate. The last time I had that one we spent 16 days in our favorite place.

Wasn't that a GREAT show?!! DH and I happened upon it and as a result, are now planning next year's trip for early December!

The gingerbread house at the GF is amazing! :earseek:

Hi there Lego, I have seen the gingerbread house before as well as most of the decorations but we will see them yet again and enjoy them as much. We plan to spend at least 4 nites riding the monorail, boat and even driving to the resorts to see all the decorations and eat wherever we happen to be when we get hungry.

Of course, we will also see the EWP, as many times as we can also. I have friends who count on me to do so for them. LOL

That is such a nice and wonderful idea. Most people would never think to do something like that. You sound like you are a very nice and wonderful person and I hope your trip is full od pixie dust, happiness and wonderful people everywhere. Please post when you get back and let us know how our trip went.

Lulu's Mom, I beg to differ. Here at the DIS there are many who would do such a thing. There is a whole thread(s) about what other people do.

I started doing such one time when I ran into a young lady who was celebrating her birthday and I happened to have a brand new MM pen in my purse. Her smile was so rewarding.

It makes you feel nice to do things for others and I especially like doing it at DW cause people say thank you and appreciate it unlike my children. (see, told you I was not that good) GRIN!!!

Children are my special hobby. I have volunteered for years and teach them the LOVE of reading. When they 'get it' it is an amazing feeling for them and for me.

First let me say that I hope your health problems have worked out for the best. Second, I am so happy for you! :flower: Have a wonderful Christmas trip with Mickey! :cheer2:

Linda:
I just want to wish you a wonderful vacation and to thank you again for the wonderful letter you wrote my daughter last fall.

I am taking the kids back to Disney this year and I will be taking them to see the EWP Dec 31. This will be their first time watching it. We are planning on watching WISHES and the EWP from the Polynesian beach. Watching the EWP (from the CR) was one of my fondest memories of Disney when I was a children. I can't wait to experience it with the kids.

riu girl, how I would have loved to have watched the EWP with you and your dear daughter. Since I am official member of the EWP Suite who better to have guided you through the progression of floats?

Another dear member of our group watched it with me from the Poly the last time we were there together. It was a magical moment . Maybe you would care to drop by and let us know how you like OUR parade? We are over on the CB.

Have a safe and fun filled trip and you are most welcome. Anytime I can make a child smile I am a happy woman. I have little sets of MM card games to give out on this trip. I am going shopping again tomorrow and who knows what I will come home with. It is always an adventure.

cindermomma, aw gawrsh!! Thank you for your kind thoughts. I am feeling very good right now and since I have a backup supply of drugs to take while at DW I am sure that I will continue to do well. I would not want to waste all this good health on sitting around her watching the dust grow. LOL

Very excited for you that it worked out. Funny how sometimes you try to talk yourself out of great things just because you THINK it wont work out. (I say stop thinking already :teeth: )
Again glad to hear your health has improved and hope it is well for your trip also.

If I may ask about the EWP...
What time can I watch for it @ the Poly? We will there for dinner at Ohana @ 6:00 (I think) in Feb. and I was planning to stroll down to the beach for WISHes and would love to catch EWP as well. Thanks for the info and the slight hijacking on your thread.

One last thing... How about those Colts? Pretty great, huh? I think Tony Dungy is a really neat person, I love it that he is so down to earth. He seems to live in the real world and he is always proud of his faith. I think we could go for more men like him in the spotlight.

Anywho~ Howdy to a fellow hoosier.

2diamonds, you are right there is far too much thinking going on. LOL

I am thinking it is 9 or 9:15 that the EWP goes by the Poly. You check the site or the guest desk at the resort. Please do not make the mistake we did and get there just as it is leaving. You get a good view of Wishes from the Poly beach as well. I would go down on the beach a bit as the lights around the pool area distract. It is not the same as being in the park. Not worse, just different.

I like the Colts a lot better than the Pacers. As a grandma I think they should be sitting in a corner for a very long time. Peyton Manning seems like a good athlete and person so it CAN be done!!!

I live down near Columbus. How about you? Maybe we will meet at an Indy meet one of these days.
