Nervous about renting from Dollar

I usually rent from Hertz or Enterprise. Well, for this trip, they were really expensive (traveling 11/11 thru 11/17).

Thanks to the Dis, I learned that Dollar had great rates for that week and booked a car.

However, now I'm nervous. The rates are so much lower than Hertz/Enterprise, that I'm wondering about quality.

Has anyone rented from Dollar? Should I stick to them or bit the bullet and pay more $$$ for Hertz?

Just rented from Dollar a couple of weeks ago and had no issue. My DH is part of the Dollar Express club so we just went to the kiosk in the garage as we got to skip the counter in the airport. As I forgot to give them my flight info, it took a couple minutes to update our info, but then we went & picked out our car. As our car size was not available(I think it was intermediate)the person in the garage told us to pick out a full-size one instead. We got a Chevy Malibu, which was more than big enough for the 2 of us. Easy return and no problem with amount charged-same as reservation.

I say, go with Dollar and save yourself some $!

P.S. If you sign up for Dollar Express & add the # to your reservation, there is no headache of them trying to upsell the insurance info as you've already declined everything.

P.P.S. One pleasant aspect was they have customer service reps here in the US so everyone speaks English and are really helpful.

I've rented from Dollar before and they are generally fine. The cars are fine. The only thing that I don't care for is waiting in line at the counter. And I have been there when they didn't seem to deal with Express Customers very quickly--like the line was longer than for regular!

But I would still rent with them if the price was better than the others. And I would join the Express program to try and save a little time.

I rented with Dollar last month, in San Diego. I usually use either Budget or Alamo. So, I was a bit hesitant, but their rates were so much better, that I decided to take a chance. Everything was just fine. We got to choose the car we wanted for about 15 vehicles. We got exactly what we wanted..actually were able to get a larger car than we had requested, which was nice.
I would rent with Dollar again.

Hertz just recently acquired Dollar. Its not a done deal yet, but just thought I'd throw it out there.

We rented from Dollar a couple weeks ago. We typically rent from National but Dollar was much cheaper. We did not join their club so we had to go to the counter. It wasn't that big of a deal, probably took 15 minutes. Our full-size car was fine, a Nissan Altima (a basic model, I don't think it had any upgrades). All in all it was fine, and I'm glad we saved the money. I'd rent from them again.

I just used Dollar in West Palm Beach and was very happy with them. Their service as super and there was no hard sell on extras.
