Negative people

Like Disgeebs and Millieluvdisney, my husband and I do not have children but love going on Disney vacations. We don't travel much, but our last three vacations have been to Disney theme parks. One lady, who works where my husband does, said that she would love to go to Disney World after she heard that my husband and I were going last month. What is stopping her? Not lack of money, because she makes an executive salary, or time but the fact that she does not have children.

As we are an older couple, we will not be having any children but won't let this interfere with our having a good time in the theme parks that we wish to visit.

Don't let the Disney-is-for-kids naysayers bring you down. One lady without children even wrote in her blog that she was told by a co-worker, during a group discussion about holiday plans, that Christmas couldn't mean much to her since she doesn't have children. Yet the woman without children loves Christmas.

I get this ALL the time too and I don't care but it does get annoying. My mom all the time says, why don't you go somewhere else (& we do, we do 3 big trips a year, we don't have kids. This year its Disney twice). Um, because I don't want to?! She doesn't get it.

My BIL just asked my DH & me the other day (my DH's brother) aren't you tired of going to Disney? I replied, obviously not if we are going again this year. I don't know what else to say. I thought it was rude to make a comment like that. Obviously we're not bored if we are going again. :confused3

Coworkers will comment too. It does get annoying after awhile. & I don't want to lie because its then I feel like I'm ashamed of going & I'm not!

I know people that go to say aruba or mexico every year and I would never ask them why they are going again. They like it, thats why they are going again, why even ask. It wouldn't dawn on me to ask something like that because the answer is obvious, they like it for whatever reason, they don't want to go somewhere else on vacation, they aren't bored, end of story.

Its just so frustrating but its good to know that there are other people that get those comments...misery loves company - :lmao:

I just tell people that if they let me plan their next vacation, I'll let them plan mine. It usually works.

After 20 years of going to WDW, people don't ask anymore since they know
where we spend Thanksgiving.

My kids are all grown and I still go to Disney at least once a year. Why would you have to hide your love of magic, imagination, fun, good weather, beauty, appreciation of nature, science, good food, etc etc etc

Since I love to stay at the Wilderness Lodge on my vacations, I just tell people I'm vacationing at my favorite log cabin for a week. They don't need to know where it is.

My sister is always saying "you're going to Disney AGAIN?! I can hear the capital letters over the phone!:lmao: DH and I are empty nesters and we go every year. The thing is, Walt intended it to be "the happiest place on earth" for everyone and wanted to bring out the child in all of us.:dance3: That's exactly what WDW does. We love seeing all the families and the little princesses and pirates all decked out, but we also love strolls on the beach and quiet dinners and a glass of wine on the balcony. I wouldn't worry about people not understanding, OP. You two continue to visit Disney and enjoy it. :thumbsup2 I feel sorry for people who will never get that simple joy of standing in the middle of main street getting teary over seeing the castle or the fireworks etc.:flower3:
