I was on a similar quest before my DS was born last spring! We decided on Hamish, which is popular in Australia and the UK but not here in the States (of course, right after he was born, Brave came out in theaters and one of the triplets is Hamish, so now he has a cool Disney connection).
Names we considered but did not use:
Cuyler (pronounced Kyler), Cedric, Theodore, Declan, Alistair, Sawyer, Harrison, Broderic
Good luck OP, I know how tough this can be! But, in the end, the perfect name will definitely come to you...I thought we'd never agree on anything, but we did, and it is the perfect name for our little guy.

We were always advised to *say* the full name out loud to see how it sounds, also, always mix syllables (ie. Jason Christopher Brown, NOT John Mike Brown). Also, such unusual spellings of a common sounding name, where a child has to constantly correct teachers, etc. If you want a name to *sound* a certain way, what's the point of spelling it so awkward that a child has to constantly correct others?

plus it was my grandpa's name. Those names aren't unique, but maybe not used a lot with the newest generation.
, my ex-CIL named her son Lakota (love it), Gaylen (an old boyfriend).
