I want to add onto my SSR contract. I can add on any resort except BCV. I have stayed in the VWL and BCV, but never at BWV. I love the EPCOT area and the proximity to everything. I am trying to decide if I want to add on the SSR with the incentives, but think I would like something else. DH loves VWL, and I do also, but that EPCOT area is hard to beat.

Who loves BWV?? What do you love about it? Would you add on if you were me (two empty nesters) or go for the incentive with SSR?

What a tough decision......$92 a point at the sold out resorts.

I need to keep my same use year which is August.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Although we just took advantage of SSR deal, we love the BWV! :cheer2: We stayed at DVC for the first time last summer (OKW & BWV) We had a Boardwalk view. It was great! We hope to stay there again, even though SSR is our home now! The deal was just too good for us! We don't usually go at prime time, so that wasn't a big issue for us.
Good Luck!

We are empty-nesters who love BWV for the activities on the boardwalk and the best-at-WDW views (IMHO). The extra years at SSR aren't as important to us because of our age. (Kids may not inherit as many years, but sure are enjoying going with us now, when their own kids are young.) We very much enjoy the Epcot area also.
Good luck in your decision.

We love BWV for a variety of reasons. We love walking right into Epcot and the boat ( or longer walk) to MGM. We also love having ESPN Club, Spoodles, Flying Fish Cafe (my favorite), Boardwalk Bakery, The Brew Pub, Piano Bar, Dance Hall all at our fingertips. Because room service comes from the before mentioned Restaurants we find it to be the best on property. We also found out if you ask they will practically bring you anything from any of the restaurants. We ordered other things many times there. We also love the pool area and quiet pool there. Bike rentals and boat rentals right there. The views of the water and thefireworks at night can also be a plus if you get those rooms. We also love the gym there also. Not as good as SSR gym but still very good. It really is a great place. The 12 extra years are very valuable to me so it makes it tough. Since you already own SSR I'd vote for an add on at BWV. Good luck.

I am just curious, are you saying that there are add-ons available for all resorts except BCV or you don't want to buy BCV?

I love the theming of VWL and it's very peaceful there. While it's location makes secluded, with only a few restaurants there you are very limited and to go anywhere else is quite a trek.

BWV on the other hand opens up alot of choices, and for adults more to do even after the parks are closed. While SSR does have DTD, there is just something special for me in the Boardwalk area and all the services there.

are you young enough to use the extra 12 yrs at SSR. If not I would go with BWV. We did a resale first 150 pts then added on throught Disney 100 and love it. We might do another add-on but it might not be at BWV.

BWV has lots of things to do for us. 2 parks to walk too . ESPN club and a view we love. :goodvibes :goodvibes

Buy where you want to stay.

It is true that if you go during off times you may be able to get the BWV, but if it will break your heart to not be able to stay there, then you really want to be able to book there 11 months in advance.

Do you ever plan vacations more than 7 months out? If no then points are points so I would buy SSR. If you want to stay in another resort during high traffic times then definitly buy at another resort. The other advantage of buying is if there are so many members that it becomes hard to get other resorts at the 7 month window. We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and it was great. I heard it is wonderful at Christmas. Of course the Epcot resorts are great since thay are so close to Epcot and MGM. Why not buy them at both?

What I meant was that there are no BCV available. I would buy there, but none available. The only reason I would buy at BCV is for the pool and the location. VWL are rustic and appeal to me and DH. I like the idea of all of the options for dining around BWV. I have seen some on these boards say that they feel that BWV seems too much like a hotel. I don't know as I have never stayed there.

I am already 55, so the number of years doesn't mean much to me. I do have 3 children and 3 grandchildren under 2. So I would leave this to them to enjoy.

It does seem like a luxury hotel and that's one of the things we love about the BWV's.

The Boardwalk views are to me the best views in Disney.

The boardwalk views are the best thruout Disney.

We love our Boardwalk home. It is wonderful to walk to Epcot or MGM. You have so much to choose from as far as food and entertainment. I love the rooms and the views. Definately my favorite of all the DVC resorts and I'm happy we call it home!

We added on, sight-unseen!

Based on the glowing reports & the lower point requirements for standard studios most seasons, it seemed like a "no-brainer".

Of course, I might be proven wrong on our 1st trip home to BWV this June!

Really, don't think you can go wrong w/any DVC resort.:goodvibes Good luck, enjoy the magic!

Take an add-on at BWV. Since you said you love the Epcot resorts, you will definitely get one then. We have BWV and love the closenss to MGM and Epcot. We also love to just sit on the Boardwalk and watch the activity. You will have SSR for some vacations and Epcot for others. You can save up the points so you can use 2 or 3 years worth to make a ressie at the smaller contract resort you own. It may be a bit harder to keep track of but you get used to it. We had owned at Vero and BWV so I kept track of 2 of them. It's not too hard and member services is helpful.

You can walk to EPCOT! I mean who would need more than that?

We love BW and feel it is the best DVC value which is why we bought there. Here are some reasons why it is different (I do not mean to disparage other DVC properties, this is only why we own at BW):

1. If you will use standard view rooms, even some of the time, you can buy fewer points ( we have 290 points and I figured with our usage next year, we would need 60 more points if we purchased BC or VWL -- that means we are paying maintenance fees for 60 fewer points but getting the same usage).

2. BW is the only DVC property that was on the 2005 Conde Nast Traveller Gold List (January 2006 magazine).

3. LOCATION LOCATION! You have all the entertainment of the BW, walk into Epcot, and if you find the back stairwells, you are nearly half way up the walkway to MGM.

4. Larger rooms than BCv or VWL.

6. DH calls it my "happy place." We just love it there.

Exactly!!!! I don't understand people who buy into an expensive timeshare like DVC only to stay at condo resorts like OKW and SSR. There are far cheaper timeshares in Orlando that fit the condo style. BCV, BWV, and VWL are by far the superior DVC resorts for our families needs. I'll do condos at the beach but never in Orlando. Give me the room service and other hotel like features. After all we are paying for it.

I guess my thought is that if you buy BWV, then you would have SSR (bus transportation to all parks) and BWV (bus to AK & MK and boat to Studios & Epcot). This would give you more variety. SSR (and OKW and VWL) is away from the "action" and more secluded. BWV (and BCV) is definitely where the action is. Plus BWV has the standard view which requires fewer points. I enjoy the boardwalk activities on week-ends and the boat transportation to Studios and Epcot.

Daitcher please don’t cut some of us down because we enjoy OKW or SSR. DH and I love OKW. It may seem like a condo resort to you but we love the resort for the quiet and peaceful feeling we get when we are there. Everyone has his or her own personal tastes. That is what is nice about DVC and each of the DVC resorts at WDW. Each has something to offer to young and old alike. DH and I just recently bought points for BWV through DVC. We wanted to have the option of another home resort for December. Since BWV are so hard to get into with only a 7-month window buying points for there seemed like the only option. DH and I now have three home resorts. We love each one for a different reason.
