So DM fiance's son and his family (wife and 2 kids) are moving to our state this weekend from the Midwest..I don't believe his wife and kids have ever been this far east (I'm in NC!) Anywho I don't really know them all that well but they are moving here due to a deployment at the end of the month..I wanted to do a welcome basket of some sort but have no clue what to put in it???:confused3:confused3:confused3 I have already given his wife all the contacts she will need for peds, children's dntst. etc. so I know I could type that for here so she would have it but what else should I put in there?? I also saw a beautiful photo frame that said my soldier on it at Hobby Lobby and I thought I might get that for them as well..I guess the basket will be themed mainly towards his wife and children since they will be staying when he goes but I need to keep it VERY budget friendly!!

Not sure where in NC you are, but I'd put some local favorites in a basket. In our area, we have Goodness Gracie cookies, South 'n France Bon Bons, Just Because Chocolates and Cape Fear Salsa that are made locally and sold in gourmet shops. I'd add a subscription to Our State magazine and maybe some gift cards to places they might not have experienced - Bojangles, Krispy Kreme, Smithfield BBQ, etc. Depending on your budget, maybe tickets to the zoo or children's museum?

If you are coastal, you could add some beach towels and flip flops, although it was 17 degrees here this morning!

Some maps (free if you are a AAA member) and a local Attractions or Entertainment book would be great.

Here are some things from our area. Cheerwine, Texas Pete(made in Winston-Salem) Red Bird candy( peppermint made in Lexington) Mrs Hanes Moravian Cookies BBQ from our famous restaurants. Welcome to the new family. Hope they will love it here!!!

We are in Lexington aka BBQ central but I am unsure if I should get a gift certificate to a local eatery or bbq sauce lol....Cheerwine is an excellent idea ;) And definitely the Moravian cookies..I will be in Old Salem for a photo session this weekend and can grab authentic ones there!! Hunh Krispy Kreme..I would have never thought about that one either..haha but then again I haven't been in the mid-west lol

How about a book on places to visit in NC. It will give them somewhere to travel and visit.
