This year I'm taking my 2 neices along with us and don't know where to stay with 4 kids. With just my 2, we've always stayed in a regular hotel room. As usual we won't be in the room much, but would like to be comfortable when we are. Plus, with 6 eating, a free breakfast is attractive. Kids ages are 11 - 14.
Any recommendations would be appreciated. (We aren't going until the fall of 2004)

Thanks,

If $ is an issue, I would recommned getting a condo from Skyauction off the ready, set, go auction.

I have won 2 bedroom condos for $265 for the week.
Plenty of room, tvs, kitchen for breakfast and snacks.

I would rent a 2-3 bedroom condo somewhere. Emerald Islands 3 BR start a $115 a night. Windsor Palms also has some 2-3 bedroom condo and 3-BR townhouse, if staying a whole week you could get a Townhome for $600 - $700 a week most of which have a private pool. Try www.vrbo.com and http://www.windsor-palms-resort.com/

Hope this helps!!!!!

I'd second the idea of trying SkyAuction.com - just make sure that you choose a 7-night (week) listing and not a nightly listing. There are added fees for the "per night" listings.

Another good option is a weekly rental from a timeshare owner. TUG Classifieds has many such listings - if the resort looks good but the price is higher than others, write and make a lower offer. Many of these resorts offer 2BRs or 3BRs with a full kitchen for easy breakfasts and snacks, 2 full baths, and a fun, resort atmosphere with lovely pool areas. Look for a resort that's listed as "5*" (5 Star), "GC" (Gold Crown, like 5 Star) or "RID" (Resort of Int'l Distinction, like 4 Star). These are generally the nicest places. HTH!

Thanks, I just went to the Windsor site and saw some great weekly prices. It sure beats trying to get 2 hotel rooms or a suite.

Thanks again,

Georgia - I'll second the advice from djm99. We stayed in a 3-br condo at Windsor Palms last month and it was wonderful. We paid $90/nite. Actually, we could have gotten a pool home for $100/nite which I would opt for given the choice. Its nicer to have the privacy of a house rather than a condo. Also no chance to have noisy neighbors disturb you (or have anyone complain if your crew gets loud). Plus the house would have a private pool.

Thanks Steve,

I was going to ask who had stayed there and what opinions were. From the website it looks like you make a contract with the owner, did yours go smoothly? Were there any charges other than the rent stated on the site? Did you and your family feel safe on the property?

Georgia,
Windsor Palms is a wonderful, brand new complex of privately owned condos, townhomes and single pool homes. It is a gated community so only folks staying there can gain entry past the manned security booth. We never even thought about safety while we were there.

We did rent direct from the owners, a very nice couple in Connecticut. Wendy Capelin was absolutely wonderful to work with - she must live at her computer because every time I e-mailed her a question, she got back to me within minutes. Everything went perfectly smoothly and I'd highly recommend it. We have rented pool homes several other times and have never had a problem at all.

As for other charges, we were charged a $65 cleaning fee because our stay was less than 7 days. That was not a hidden charge as I was told about it upfront when I first inquired about the rates. On the other hand, the posted rate was $100/nite but the owners gave me a 10% discount for paying in full at the time I booked, so it pretty much balanced out.

From a child's perspective, any resort in WDW is great! The are comfy, and very nice. I think that the prices are great!
