Strange request, but I was wondering if anyone who was on the May 21st-24th Wonder cruise have any pictures of the child being taken off the boat for medical emergency? I am her mother and I am having a hard time convincing the trip insurance company to not only refund mine and my daughter's trip interuption refund, but also my mother's who was on the ship with us. Unfortunately, because of the way the tendor (or tugboat) was positioned against the Wonder my mother could not get on the tugboat due to physical limitations. We were forced to leave her behind on the boat to fend for herself while my daughter and I were sent ashore, and onto Miami.

Their position is that since she stayed on the boat, she finished her cruise. Right, she stayed in her room worried to death as to what was happening to her grandchild! I thought if I could show that it was a difficult disembarkment even for a physically fit person it might help our case.

Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. My daughter is recovering well, and I want to give big kudos to Disney, the ship's medical facilities and the crew for all that they did.

I was on that cruise, but was taking a nap after the huge brunch! Sorry.
But , you may want to try the cruise meet thread for our cruise.

I'm glad your daughter is okay now.

Could you please tell us what happened and why your daughter was transported to Miami. At least you were take to American soil, I can't imagine how hard it would have been to take her somewhere foreign.

Let us know.

My mother, daughter and I were on the land/sea package and somewhere during the land portion of the trip, my 3 yo picked up a staph bacteria which apparently takes severals days for symptoms to appear. The symptoms began appearing by the Monday on the cruise with extremely painful red areas around the neck, arms and diaper area. We spent the day in and out of the ship's doctor where they thought she was having an allergic reaction of some sorts. When her skin began blistering and peeling off, they thought it necessary to have her get medical treatment at the Children's hospital in Miami. We did get detained in Freeport and were forced to get approval from their hospital for my daughter to be able to fly out of Freeport, and we eventually made it to Miami later that afternoon (thank God!)

Obviously, we are very relieved that she has recovered and hopfully no lasting scars. But now it is time to battle the trip insurance company. They are stating that my mother would not receive any credit back on her trip interuption because she stayed on the boat. But because of her physical limitations we were forced to leave her behind because she could not make the move from the ship to the tender and then off. It was an awful decision to have to make, here her grand-daughter has a life-threatening issue and I had to leave my handicapped 68 yo mother alone on the boat. We didn't have a choice.

So anyone with photos of the disembarkment to help my case would be greatly appreciated!

And I also must add what a wonderful job Disney, the crew, and the medical staff all did during this situation. We were all so taken care of, and the concern, compassion, support was beyond what I ever expected. I have been on other cruise lines before, and know they wouldn't treat their guests like Disney has!

gowhite, I am so sorry that had to happen. How scary for all of you! I really hope you will get things sorted out with the trip insurance company. Maybe a letter from DCL would help? It wouldn't hurt to call them, I suppose. I am glad to hear your daughter is doing all better!
