Basically, can you add the water park option to an already purchased and half used park hopper ticket?

My son turned 3 while the rest of the family had APs. I got him a park hopper ticket to cover the last two days of a trip that we took a couple of months after his birthday. He used two days of it. Now we are going in six weeks and back to using the military tickets. We want to do the park hopper plus water park option this time, but I am not sure what is the best economical way to get him the water park option.

My plan is for us to use 2 days in May and 2 more in November. So I still run into not having enough for him in November, so I'm trying to plan that into the equation. We have 4 kids, so I don't have the option to get extra tickets...I'll be maxed out at my six. (much easier when I had APs, but DH said Disney got too much of our money last year...but there's nothing like a cute blond pig tailed girl asking daily why we can't go back to Disney...so he caved.)

Any ideas?

Is the ticket that your youngest son now has a MILITARY ticket?

If the ticket you purchase previously was the Disney Salute ticket, the DMS ticket can not be used to add on any more days or entitlements.

If the park hopper ticket was purchase as a regular ticket ( non Disney Military Salute) then you will be allowed to upgrade/ add on to that ticket the water park and more options.

Also, do you have 7 family members? If so, you will be allowed to purchased the 7th ticket for your 3 year old since he is your child. It can be done at Disney Guest Services or Shades of Green.

We are 6 total. So I used one on him to cover the 2 days everyone else still had APs. Now, no one has APs and he has 2 days left on a ticket. I'm getting 5 for the rest of us, which will max me out. We'll use 2 in May and 2 in November. I'll have to figure out what to do with his 2 he needs in November. It sounds like I will have to get him a regular disney ticket with water park option if I want everyone to go to the water parks. I'm thinking we need to abandon the water park idea and just enjoy the pool.

Wish I had my APs back, but crazy things like cars and dishwashers and washing machines had to be replaced.

Not so under the circumstances of when the OP first used the ticket.

If it was a regular MYW ticket that was partially-used weeks/months/years ago (even if it was a non-expiring ticket -no longer being sold) a regular MYW ticket can't be upgraded after 14 days have passed after its first use.

(We have since been told that the OP's son's ticket IS a Military Salute ticket.)

Just to make sure, was your son's ticket purchased and used in 2016? If so, then you are correct he only has 1-day left and you can only purchase 5 more. If it is from 2015, then it is expired. They are only good until Dec of the year they are purchased in.

Yes, he used it in January. Its a current ticket.

We had military tickets a couple of years ago (park hopper option) and we were able to add the water park option when we got to Blizzard Beach.
