I saw some at Target in the party supplies aisle, they were a bunch packaged like treat bags...they were with the other types of treat bags.
They are not red and white striped popcorn bags, but they have popcorn treat bags that are cute at Factory Card Outlet (don't know where all their stores are located.)

DD, turing 10 at the end of the month, is having her b-day party early so that it can be a HSM2 premier party. I got the plats and stuff at Toys R Us today. They had just been put on the shelf so there was plenty of everything. For decorations, we are using the "fans" printed from the Disney website. I put two back to back then laminated them, punched a whole at the top and hung them from the ceiling. Along with that we have gold swirly things suspended (left over from DD17's birthday dance party). We hung the HSM birthday banner and will be putting two of the HSM2 posters under it for the girls to have a picture taken to put in the HSM frames I bought at Toys R Us. We're gonna get link some of the glow in the dark bracelets and suspend them to, not that it has anything to do with the movie but it sounds neat.
As for games: DD bought the HSM & HSM2 games from Wal-Mart last week so they will play those, karoke with the first sing a long cd, do the dance thing from the movie cd, and turn off the lights, turn on the disco ball and music and have fun dancing. All this after a little swimming! I hope they are good and worn out after a day at school.
For party favors we are going to use the Shrinky Dink for the inkjet printer and print a "charm" for each of them to put on a necklace or bracelet. We made jewelry for her party last year and the girls loved it!
I will be getting the popcorn boxes from Hobby Lobby tomorrow. They are the red and white striped ones. I'm gonna pick up some small candy bars too.
Everyone has such great ideas. Hope you all have a great time!

We are having a party too! DD turned 10 on Aug 1st but we waited to have her slumber party tomorrow night. I found HSM plates/napkins at Walmart the other day. I also found hard plastic cups that girls can use and take home. I got some HSM confetti for the table and these hanging decorations too. Perhaps tomorrow I'll go pick up a teen mag for the posters, good idea!

At the market today we ordered her cake. It is a small cake surrounded by cupcakes. They are frosted in white and piped with blue/yellow so that will tie in nicely.

The girls are arriving at 6pm and we'll have pizza and cake and do presents. I am thinking maybe we'll paint nails or something. We got the HSM2 Soundtrack so we'll be playing that I am sure. Then the movie is at 8. A few years ago we got hard plastic red/white popcorn boxes to eat popcorn in so we'll use those and I bought boxes of candy today, things like Sno-Caps, Jr Mints, Hot Tamales, etc.

It should be a lot of fun! I hope everyone has a great party tomorrow night!

Does anyone have an idea for a simple craft? My girls tonight are 7. Nothing to complicated or expensive. Or messy;) Thanks.

My DD went to a HSM party not too long ago and the two crafts she made were a picture frame and a key chain. The picture frame was a lucite one with a magnet on back for the refrig. or elsewhere. They painted with paint markers anything they wanted. DD painted "Wildcats" with pawprints on it.
She got a photo with the group of girls at the party a few days later to put into the frame.
The keychain was block letter beads (square) on a lanyard with a key chain ring attached. They could spell out "Wildcats" or "East High" for the keychain.

I'm not sure what these material cost, but my DD loved them because they were things she could use and a fun memory of the party.
Have fun with whatever craft you decide!

My dollar store had them as well.

Golf is a a predominate theme in this movie. If you have a kid golf set, you can do a fun golf type game. (longest drive, silliest swing, etc)

There is a scene in the movie where Sharpay golfs with Troy. Sharpay of course has really exagerrated swings and golfs badly... you could have a Sharpay swing contest (who can do it the silliest/most over the top)

You said 7. The themes is this one are more mature than the first one. There is no sex but there are some more mature themes such as jealousy, envy, stealing boyfriends /conniving one persons boyfriend to make them thier own which is different. The use of the word "hell" is evident 3 times. Sharpay wears quite a skimpy bathing suit and an exposed bra in the final show scene.

I've been lucky to have a full length preview for the past week--so we've seen the movie about 10 times.

Thanks for the warning. I do not understand why Disney would have to put that word in there.:confused3

Unfortunately for me being in my 20's none of my friends would want to come to a HSM party so I'll be watching it alone that night lol. Good luck with the parties though!

Haha. Our friend is 30 and he is having a party tonight. :rotfl: Most people there will be in their 20's-30's.

My husband fortuneatly works for a printing company so he was able to make us some place mats that say our daughters name and that they are hosting the party along with a banner I thought that was nice of him. We're doing pizza and snacks but I love the lunch tray idea and hair nets almost like a cafeteria theme. We are also going to be playing the High School Musical 2 soundtrack as kids arrive. Good luck to all the crazy enough moms like me to host a night of music, food, and fun...
