Need Ideas for inexpensive High School Musical 2 party

My DS turns 12 on Tuesday. He only wants to invite 3 friends for a sleepover, and the date that they are all available happens to be the same day as the HSM2 premiere. So, they will be watching the movie and eating snacks. I'm thinking little hotdogs in biscuits, chicken nuggets, chex mix, grapes, carrots with dip, maybe some chips. DS insists he is too old to have a "theme" party :sad1: so we probably won't decorate or anything, but it will still be fun!

LOL about 12 being too old for a theme party. My dd (12) is having a HSM2 sleepover/swimming party and we're going all out theme-wise. Guess it is a girl thing.

I checked at Wal-Mart to see if they had any left over HSM2 lanyards and the lady gave me 10 more. So, if anyone needs them, send me a PM and I can get them in the mail on Monday so you'll have them in time for Friday. They will make great party favors.

Update:
The lanyards have all been spoken for.

My 2 DD's have seen HSM2 4 times already..for those that are interested if you have Disney Channel on Demand (a service thru our NY cable company, Cablevision) you can watch it as many times as you like. It apperaed on our Menu on Friday night, I couldn't believe it.

At first I thought it was a mistake, I called the cable company & they said, it's no mistake.

I proceeded to hit play & right before our eyes the movie played in it's entiredy, no comercials!!!

We pay $5 a month for it & it enables us to watch endless Hannah Montana episodes.

It was a regular Friday night, my DD's asked to watch one of their favorite Hannah episodes, I turned on channel 503 (disney on demand) I scrolled down the menu to "H" & there it was...High School Musical 2!!!!!!!!!

My DD's started screaming & the rest is history.

They LOVED every minute of it, my oldest, 7, said it wasn't as good as the first, but she still loved it.

Don't want to spoil it for anyone, but I will say that I did enjoy it but definitely liked the first one better.

Enjoy all your parties, the ideas sound great!!!

My girls are both involved in sleepovers for HSMII and now DD wants a HSM bday party for her 8th bday in Sept. I was just about to order party supplies online when I came across this thread. Now I need to make a trip to Walmart!:thumbsup2

Wow! How cool it must have been for your DDs to get to see it before everyone else! I found an article online about the early release to "on demand" customers. It was only available in certain areas. How exciting though!

instead of a cake... I ordered cup cake picks thats are movie theme.. one popcorn container, one movie ticket and the third was one of those director boards (cant think of what its called ) I also got black, red and white mickey head confetti. Since its a Disney Movie I thought it fit.

We are on our 7th viewing in two days!

We don't pay any extra for the on demand feature though.

I really enjoyed this one better than the first one.

Lucky you, not having to pay!!! I am glad you enjoyed it better!!

On Demand is free for two different companies around here.

I have Verizon FIOS and Comcast is also free. For what they charge, on demand should not be an extra charge!

In the realm of budget saving, you can call the company and state that other cable companies are NOT charging for on demand and see if you can get the fee waived for a bit.

I ordered the HSM2 Cupcake edible images through Ebay! DD is going to a slumber party for the Premier. Also ordered cupcake picks that are also rings, but I will probably just let them have them and try not to ruin the edible images.

What department were you able to get the Lanyards from at Walmart??

I was looking for ideas for my DD's party on Friday (she's in 4th grade) and read a post about making tickets like for a concert or movie, so I made some! They are so cute! If you want to see them let me know it might give you an idea on how to make your own!

I, too, am trying to pull this thing together! Hopefully someone can help me with a couple questions. For the cell phone game, how are you using clues to find the phones? Do you ask them a question and them give them a clue if they get it right?? I just don't get it. My brain is not functioning.

Also, where is the quiz that has been mentioned? I cannot find one. I only see a quiz that tells you who you are most like. Any help would be appreciated!! The kids are so excited and I want to make it great.

DD's HSM2 Premier Sleepover Bday - Our ideas:

I made my own lanyards...I used a picture off the internet (HSM2) and underneath it, I put one of girls names, then "All Access Pass 8-17-07 8:00pm"....I printed them out onto cardstock and put them into badgeholders and lanyards I bought at Staples. They look great and are personalized!

We've also purchased the soundtrack which we're going to play while the girls arrive and during our dinner. Ours came with 2 karoayoke (spelling???) tracks and my dd has a portable karoayoke machine. We also have the first High School Musical karoyoke cd to use.

Another idea we're using is placing a sticker of each character onto an index card. During commercials (or before the movie if we have time) I will pass out a card to one of the girls who will act out the character. Everyone will have to guess which character before the show comes back on.

My girls made their own decorations using cut out pictures from magazines they had onto blue & yellow cardstock, which we're going to hang around the room.

For the cake, I didn't order an edible image in time, so I'm going to attempt (and I stress the word attempt!) to frost the cookie cake and spray blue with edible food spray. I am going to cut out HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATALIE 8 in place of the words HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2, so the blue spray doesn't fill in. Then I'll use yellow gel to fill the spaces where the letters were in. I'm hoping the font looks like the HSM font...we'll see!

I also found blue & yellow glow bracelets at the dollar store (6 to a pack, I think) the girls can wear while we watch the movie (all lights out except the tv)...popcorn in the red & white striped popcorn bags...popcorn::

Goody bags were easy with the HSM school supplies out...each girl will get a HSM folder (walmart .48 cents ea), a sheet of HSM stickers (2 shts for $1.00), a small notebook (with a HSM character sticker on the cover), some candy, a jumbo pen and sparkly pencil.

I swear, sometimes I think I'm more excited than my daughters!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl:

We will be having a HSM2 B-day party. For decorations we will be buying a teen bop(or some teen magazine) with the posters & use those as decorations. Also crepe paper in the school colors. Also some other ideas already mentioned.

Today, Walmart had a bundle pack of the HSM and HSM2 DVD Trivia games on sale for $14.9something....
That is $7.50 per game. I am keeping the HSM2 game for my DD and friends to play after the movie and will keep the other to give as a gift. There are lots of HSM parties in our future....
Walmart also had a bunch of new HSM2 posters on an endcap next to the regular posters. They are $4.9something. I am using one to put on the front door outside to welcome guests and then will go in DD's bedroom.
