Hello DIS folks. I know alot of you will have some wonderful suggestions for a fun game for my dd's class to play. There are 20 kids. Her parties in the past have been ah well BORING...(I am NOT the room mom BTW).
The room mom asked me to come up with something fun. Right now we have a craft planned, snack, a fish valentine game.
So what games is your class playing or is there something you have done in the past that was alot of fun?
Thanks

My friends and I take turns teaching preschool in our homes and one thing we've done is a Valentine's Bingo game. Include pictures and/or simple words having to do with love, friendship, and other things about the holiday like "red" or "pink" and use little hearts to cover the spaces. The kids love it.

Maybe a heart hunt? Hide paper hearts around the room, and each student has to find a predetermined number of hearts. Make sure there is enough for all the students! If some students are having difficulty with numbers, maybe given them an egg catron that has enought slots to hold the number of hearts you want them to find.

Another idea......guess the number of candy hearts in the jar.

Here's a game my son made up that everyone loves because there's no losers! Fill a basket with candy, sit the kids in a circle and pass the basket while playing music. When the music stops, the one holding the basket is "out", BUT they get to tak a piece of candy with them!!! I can't tell you how many times I've seen a young kid get "out" and they run to Mom with their candy telling her they've won! Last one in gets the rest of the basket. I've also seen that last winner "share" the entire basket after winning!!!

We never played any creative V-Day games when I was in school.
Just the traditional handing-out of the childrens V-day cards. Those were fun, especially since back "in the day", there were a lot more options to chose from (Muppets, Thundercats, Disney, etc). Nowadays it just doesn't seem like there are as many choices. At least that I've seen.

Maybe have a contest where the kids have to design/color their own V-day card "mailbox" as we called them. The kid with the most creative one gets a prize (?)

What about Valentine's Day BINGO? Colored hearts, chocolate candy, flowers, etc. When we play BINGO in my Pre-K class we only have 4 or 5 game boards with copies of those; whihc means that everyone has the same board as someone else. No one compalins as no one is the loser as we play until they all get BINGO. To make it fun you could give a Herhsey's kiss to everyone who places a chip on their "kiss" piece (Herhsey's kiss that is). So there is something attainable by all, a chocolate prize.

I hate to copy everyone else, but we often used bingo at the class parties...we just used the regular bingo cards but for valentines day we used the candy conversation hearts as bingo markers. For Christmas we used red and green m & m candies, etc.
It was a good fallback, everyone got some candy to eat at the end (the candy they used as the markers.)
I picked up a couple of inexpensive bingo games years ago which gave me enough cards, and they got used several times between class parties, and girl scout activities. :)

The other good thing about bingo, it can take up however much time you need to fill. Just end the game whenever you have to stop, or you can add another game if you have time left. Sometimes we would plan on a craft taking a half hour, and the kids would be done in 15 minutes, so the game could fill the time.

:teacher: My 1st grade class will be:
1) having a snack
2) playing Valentine Bingo
3) distributing & opening their Valentines (Room moms often forget to factor this into the time of the party & this can take AWHILE)

There won't be time for a craft..thank goodness....I DO NOT like those, as sometimes the moms order that Oriental Trading stuff, which is crap IMO.

At the end, while the moms clean up, I'll be putting in the video, "Franklin's Valentines".

Hey guys, this thread was resurrected from 2003. My dd is in 7th grade and I am happy to report I never have to do another party again.:lmao:
