HELP !! I thought I had stuff (wilton icing) to decorate the sugar cookies, but I don't. I need a recipe for icing that doesn't inlcude egg whites. It's budget related because I don't want to go out and buy any ingredients !! Thanks ! I should have everything I need except the recipe !

2 to 3 tablespoons just-boiled water
1 cup confectioners' sugar, sifted
Food coloring, preferably pastes

Bag of 10x sugar
1/4 to 1/2 cup cornsyrup
a couple three tablespoons of milk

It's a glaze that dries hard overnight. Tasty.
The reason why the measurements are flexible is you can thin it as you want. It's really good.

This sounds like exactly what I am looking for. Is it a 1lb or 2lb bag and can I add food coloring to it?

Thanks!

Hi, I made these cookies yesterday with this recipie. Used more milk to get consistency (too much in the case of the green icing), and they hardened in a few hours. I colored using Wilton colors, not liquid food coloring. I put the icing in ziplock bags, cut and end off and pipe onto cookie. I made 2.5 x the recipie and iced 2 dozen cookies. HTH

Ingredients
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 teaspoons milk
2 teaspoons light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
assorted food coloring

Directions
1. In a small bowl, stir together confectioners' sugar and milk until smooth. Beat in corn syrup and almond extract until icing is smooth and glossy. If icing is too thick, add more corn syrup.
2. Divide into separate bowls, and add food colorings to each to desired intensity. Dip cookies, or paint them with a brush.

I just use powered sugar and milk... just a bit of milk. Add more until it is the right consistency. It hardens. This is how I have made it for 30 years.

You can add food coloring, no problem.

This! :thumbsup2 This is the first year we've used a glaze instead of canned icing. I used about 3 cups of powdered sugar and around 4 tablespoons of milk (you may need to add a bit more to get it to your desired consistency). You can also add in a half teaspoon of vanilla. We colored it with gel food colorings, but I think my mom used the regular food coloring, and it worked well, too. I put the different colors in dishes with paint brushes and let the kids "paint" onto the cookies. They turned out great! --Katie

Yep, I just use the regular food coloring. I make mine thicker, so the kids can use a knife and spread it on. It is very versatile. I have never measured it out though. So I can't help there.

2 cups powder sugar, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp vanilla extract, enough water to make it easy to spread. Add food coloring.

Very easy, tasty, and it hardens.

Very cute cookies (and kids)! You must have had a lot of fun.

My icing is SUPER easy! I just do Powdered Sugar mixed with a little water and it tastes great and it is easy to spread! It will harden a few minutes after you frost the cookie. Have fun!

1 cup powered sugar
1 tsp lemon extract
water until desired consistency is reached

A little dab of softened butter (maybe two or three tablespoons)
A little bit of milk (don't overdo it, you can add more if it is too stiff)
Powered sugar.

Add the powdered to the butter, then add some milk to moisten. Stir it up.

If you add too much milk, just add a little more powdered sugar. If it is too dry, add a bit more milk.

is powder sugar/butter or marg./food coloring then a little milk to get the consistency.this is what my mother and i have been useing for years.

This is how I do it too -- I just eyeball the measuements. Fill a cup with powdered sugar and add a couple tablespoons of milk & mix to the right consistency. We add food coloring.
