Can anyone suggest a couple of good choices for a cheap clean decent hotel close to O'Hare. Probably needs Park and Fly.

We are drving from Des Moines to fly out of O'Hare because airfare out of Des Moines is pretty much booked and what is available is over $1500 a person! :rotfl:

We've got a reservation for the Hampton, but just want to make sure it's a good choice.

Any tips on best way into airport from the west?

Thanks...I haven't been to Chicago since 1977!

I believe there is a hilton actually attached to the airport if I am not mistaken. I have seen signs for it in the tunnels of the airport.

I'm not sure which offer Park and Fly, but if you want clean and decent, most hotels/motels in the surrounding west and north areas of O'Hare are fine, and most, if not all, have airport buses. Anything directly south and east of the airport is getting a bit dodgy.

Not sure if I can offer any tips coming in to the airport - I live off I90, which looks on the map that it might be a bit north for you (I88 looks like it might be closer to you), but any motel/hotel in the towns off I90 are good - etc Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Arlington Heights. But whichever highway you take to the Chicagoland area, I think you have to eventually branch off onto I90 for a few feet at least, to get to I190, which is the main airport entrance. If so, avoid it around rush hour, or add an extra hour or so onto your travel time. ;)

When we went on DCL back in 2003, we had a really early morning flight out of O'hare to Orlando, so we choose to stay at the Hilton which is attached to the airport. The nice thing was we went on Priceline and choose a 4 Star Hotel near the airport and put in a bid of $35 and the Hilton accepted the offer. We parked at O'hare's economy lot and took the ATS to the terminal and then walked through the tunnel to the hotel. The economy lot is a decent price of $13 per day.

Having lived in the Chicagoland area for almost 40 years, I recommend the Hilton that is literally attached to Ohare (ORD). Sorry I can't help you about comming in from the West, I come in from the North. Be prepared for some heavy traffic and grid lock. The Hilton has a walk way that takes you directly from the check out desk to inside the terminal. Once inside the hotel you never have to set foot outside the airport, it's an awesome location. You will feel very secure. There's plenty of lots in and around the airport that offer different rates. I always use an inside parking garage that has a long term parking plan. It's much safer for you and your car that way.

In case you want to shop around a little, here's a guide to check out some different options.

Hey there!!! Everytime we fly out of O'Hare we stay at the Shertaton Suites Elk Grove Villiage...........we call and ask for the park and fly rate and usually it's $99 that covers your night's stay plus parking for I think 7 days.......not too bad. They have a shuttle that runs 24 hours a day and it's only like a 10 min. trip to the airport.............just a suggestion!!!! :goodvibes

My sister stayed at the Raddison about two weeks ago. $100 to stay the night and park the car for the week plus get shuttled to O'Hare. Great deal I would do that in a minute. She said the hotel was very nice. I'm not sure how close to O'Hare it is though?

If it's the Raddison that's in Des Plaines, then it's about a 10 minute drive and they provide free shuttles and 7 days of free parking. This is the one that I think you're referring to. I may end up using them due to the high cost that the O'Hare Hilton is charging. The Hilton wasn't that expensive last time I thought of using them and they went up in prices. The Raddison seems like a good deal, IMO.
