I'm confusing myself.....should I just call for a room and get a AAA discount, bid for travel or go to hotel.com? Any brilliant ideas out there? Bottom line is........expensive!!! I'm leaning at staying on the Canadian side. We are open to staying a few miles away from the action if there are any great rooms that are more affordable. Probably within a half hour drive. I am pretty much going by the info in my AAA book. Any info would be great, thanks!

We stayed here in April and it was a nice place. It is directly across from the new Niagara Casino and within walking distance of the falls.
I called to make reservations for the summer and the prices went way up. She said it was because of the summer and tourist season. If you can hold off coming til Sept/Oct prices will go down again. It cost us $99CA for the night.

I just spent a few hours trying to get a good rate using priceline on the Canadian side with no luck. I ended up getting the 4 points sheraton in St Catherines for $50(us) a night. I hear it is very close also and the prices during the summer of the hotels near the falls seem to be really jacked up.

We are going in a few weeks so I went ahead with hotel.com. Tell me what you think:
three star hotel
pools
free coffee and breakfast
rodeway inn and suites
------------------------------
USD 218.58 for 3 nights

Could I have done better? I was getting nervous so close to our departure date so I bit the bullet.

Does anyone remember what that hotel in Mississauga was called (I think it had a western name). It apparently had a great water slide and was nice for families? I'll post a new thread.

Thanks!

Could anyone share the name of that hotel in Mississauga. I think it had a western sounding name. There was a thread awhile back, of course I can't find that note I left for myself. Any other info would be great. I can't locate it on either hotel.com or my AAA book. Thanks again my fellow Canadians!!

The Four Points Sheraton is close to Niagara Falls only in the sense that it is much closer than Peterborough is. It is located near the Brock University campus and the drive to Niagara Falls -- although not horrendously long, certainly is no straight-forward drive down the street. Don't forget that you will also have to pay for parking in Niagara Falls -- not a cheap prospect.

You might also consider trying the Niagara College Summer Suites. They are the new residence suites and during the off student season they rent them out as hotels. They are quite nice and fairly close to Niagara Falls. The ones we were in had 2 bedrooms a bathroom and a kitchen area. Some of the others just have 1 bedroom and a sitting room plus the bath and kitchen.

Baboo, do you know how much it costs to rent the rooms at the college or universities? I've tried doing a search and it's not coming up with Niagara College.

Thanks,

Marilynn

go to travelaxe.com and download their free program. You can put in any city and date and it will list tons of hotels and prices by checking hundreds of travel websites and listing them in order or price. For example travelocity might be the cheapest site for one hotel and hotels.com might be the cheapest site for the hotel next door. It's a great travel tool.

Hello .. we were just down in Niagara Falls last week. We stayed the first night at Ramada Suites for 99, but weren't happy as the carpet was quite stained and we had an infant with us who is crawling all over the place. I wasn't impressed. I bit the bullet and stayed at Embassy Suites the next night, for 215 (for a view of the Canadian Falls). If we'd stayed on for the Friday night it would have been 385!!! Yikes ... it was nice to see the falls I do have to admit! BUT ... there is a BRAND NEW DoubleTree Hotel and Suites which was only about two blocks from us. I did check out the rates .... 99 for a room or 129 for a suite were the introductory rates they were offering. This is a hotel and spa, so I would imagine it is beautiful inside. I didnt' end up staying an extra night as we didn't want to bother relocating again with the two kiddos. Give it a try by calling them as they were just kind of offering anything to get people to stay. Hopefully it is the same. It just opened on June 19th or something like that!!! Very nice looking from outside!

I just booked the Quality Inn on Clifton Hill for 2 nights at the end of August for $295.79 taxes in. I found it at the www.cliftonhill.com website. It includes 2 nights accommodation, 1 large pizza with 2 toppings at Boston Pizza, 20 tokens for Midway, passes for each of us at the Movieland Wax Museum, FX ride, and Ghost Ride, free breakfast each morning for both adults at the Golden Griddle, and all taxes included. It looks like a great deal. Each night at the hotel was $139.95 without the package so it was a keeper for sure. Good luck!
