need help with iron-ons

Can someone please help me? everytime I try to do the iron-ons some of the design always "rips" off-looks horable
I follow the transfer paper instructions and can't for the life of me figure out what I am doing wrong...
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Which transfers are you trying to use?

just the ones from AC Moore (craft store) for light color material-Im trying to make tote bags...is there a special kind I should look for? one that is better than others?
