Need Help with Games for Kids+Adults A relative of mine is having a b'day party and asked me if I knew of any games that kids and adults could play together. I can't think of any and wonder if anyone here knows of any fun games. The kids would be at least 9 years old on up to middle-aged adults.

My cousin has always wanted a fun birthday with his extended family and I appreciate any help you can give me to make his wish come true.

Thanks again!! :)

Are you looking for board games?

We played apples to apples with my pre-teen cousins. We all had a lot of fun and have actually played it when it's just the adults around. :sunny:

Ok, I thought of a few more. How about charades or pictionary? You could also play musical chairs and pin the tail on the donkey. I know the last 2 are for younger kids but when adults are playing along, kids seem to like playing these more.

Our new family favorite game is Imagineiff. It is a great game for all ages (it is especially fun if you play it with people that know each other pretty well).

If you do Pictionary, get a large pad of paper on an easel or something and have people draw on that so everyone can see what you are drawing. Play in two-four teams depending on how many people are there.

For outdoor games, bean bag toss is pretty popular, the boards are easy to make and something you can keep for other things. There is also a game, not sure what it is called but you sling a rope with a golf ball attached to each end around this goal thing an get points for which bar you land on. They had them in sale ads this spring at home improvement stores.

Some old favorites could be water balloon toss, pass the orange (where you pass an orange using only your neck/chin), various relay races, etc, kick-ball, dodge ball.

Uno Attacks! You can play that with quite a few people, and it's SO much fun. The kids get a real kick out of the cards spitting out at everyone.

Outburst! Lots and lots of fun.

And our family likes Uno.

I'd suggest a variety of games and offering several "stations". Mix and match teams and you'll have a lot of options for people that "won't do that game".

This is our favorite to play with a varied age group. The fact that you can't control the number of cards it spits out really levels the playing field. :teeth: We've had a lot of times when the youngest player won--and not because anyone LET him win but because it's mostly a matter of luck.

It's called horseshoe golf, and it's a blast.

How about bocce or croquet? Get some squirt guns!

At my Aunt and Uncle's 4th of July Party every year - the kids and adults do an egg toss, 3 legged race and gunny sack races. The kids have a blast as do the adults and there are prizes for both.

I know it takes a long time to play, but the only board game my DS8 likes to play is "Monopoly".

This is a game we played on DCL.

You form 2 teams. Each team hold hands, making a big ring. Then a hula hoop is hung on each ring. The object of the game is for every one to go through the hula hoop, without letting their hands go, and get it back to where it started. First team to do it, wins.

The fun thing with this game is that it is super easy for the kids since they are smaller, but the adults make fools of themselves!

We like to play Scene It DVD (I think there's even a kids or Disney version of this). It's fun to play in the living room sometimes instead of sitting at the kitchen table.

I really like Apples to Apples too.

We play a game at our family bday parties with LOTS of cousins etc where each person gets a name of someone famous stuck on their back when they get there. Then you have to go around and ask everyone else yes or no questions about who you are and try to figure it out. We have used everything from the Pope to Bill Clinton to Mickey Mouse and Sleeping Beauty. It is really fun.

We also play the dice game. You have two pans with two dice in each of them. You have everyone sit in a circle and the pans go around opposite directions in the circle. Everytime you get doubles, you get to pick a prize. You can either have tons of prizes or one per person. If you have one per person, they have to decide if they want to stick with what they have or choose a different one. Once all the prizes are gone from the middle then when you get doubles you can steal from other people. (Or trade if you are doing one gift per person.) You time that section and end at a certain point. There are always a few gifts that everyone wants so it can be quite hilarious. We play this on our women's retreat at church and it is many of our goals to wrap our gifts really pretty so that they will be fought over.
