Need help with FW Cabins

a few months ago, someone posted a link to a list of what to bring with when you stay at the cabins. I should have printed it out, but I didn't. Can someone post this link again if you have it? Thanks. We are staying there from 6/19 -26 for the first time, and I'm a little nervous about it. I've stayed on property before, but always in "hotels"....the cabins aren't exactly roughing it, but I am hoping that it isn't too "campy"....It is the best value for our family of 5 and we wanted the kitchen. Anyway, thanks for the help!

We stayed at a FW cabin on our last night last summer. They are not rustic even though they have a log cabin theme. I don't have a list of what is there, but I remember that the kitchen seemed to have much of what the DVC villas have. It seemed to have pots, skillets, cookie sheet, opener, dishes, and so forth. You will need any spices, condiments, sugar, salt that you might want if you plan to cook. Dishsoap and coffee were furnished. Sorry that I can't remember anything more, but I hope this much helps.

We stayed there almost 2 years ago. It was great. I don't have a list but it had any cooking item you could need. No food items at all. So if your cooking you'd need salt, pepper, seasonings etc. They do have dish soap and dishwashing detergent The decor was great and did not feel like "camping" at all. It had a full kitchen but no washer and dryer. Had a grill out on the porch.

I don't have much to add to what the others have said, just that you sounded so skepitcal in your post I wanted to reassure you.

Though situated on the FW grounds, the cabins are just as well equiped as any villa (except for the washer/dryer). It is nothing like camping. Mousekeeping comes every day. They will even do your dishes (in the dishwasher). The cabins are modified trailer homes. There is central air conditioning, cable T.V., a phone. One nice thing about FW cabins is that they are stand alone units, so you do not have the noise from the people next door or overhead.

The only things I can think of that you might want to bring are:

- food, including any condiments/seasoning you use and coffee (they supplied us with 1 day's worth of coffee. It's a small pot)

- coals and matches, etc if you are sure you want to bbq

- laundry soap (in a ziploc) if you will be doing laundry and a bag to carry your dirty and clean laundry to/from the laundromat

You are right, it is good value for on-site. I think you will enjoy yourselves. We did not take advantage of everything that there was to offer at FW, but we still had fun. The pools are not themed, but they are well equiped with changing rooms and bathrooms. They had a big bin of life jackets for kids who don't swim. The pool we went to had the laundromat right next to it so you could do your laundry while you swam.

You'll still want flashlights and bug spray for the walks from the bus stops and to the pools. If you bring a soft-type cooler you can pack sanwiches and snacks to take to the parks. We grilled extra to take in our lunches the next day when we were there last year.

I wish I had read that link. We just got back yesterday from the cabins and didn't bring charcoal or salt and pepper . If you have little ones you might want to bring cups, the cabin only has mug like glasses with a handle. This was also our first stay at the cabins. I have to tell you I got mixed responses about renting a golf cart- we didn't- I wish we did. We have a 13 month old, and had to take a bus to the kiddie pool. Call ahead to rent one, there wasn't one available when we wanted one. If you have any other specific questions feel free to ask or you can email me. We just got back from a week long stay.

Absolutely rent a golf cart! Although they are expensive, the time that you save will be well worth the extra expense.

We just returned on Saturday. The cabins were a nice way to relax and unwind from the parks. To avoid renting a cart I requested a cabin in the 2500 or 2600 loop which are close to the pool and laundry. Just send a fax to the room controller 4 days before your designated check in. My only complaint is the internal bus system is quite time consuming.
