Hi everyone,

We had our first family trip to Disney this past October and we loved it. We were there the third week in October and it was great. We're already in the planning stages of our next trip, which up until tonight was going to be during the same time frame. The thing is, our youngest daughter turns three October 6th, so just for kicks and giggles I priced a trip during the last two weeks in September when she would still be two and wow, talk about a difference! We're taking our in-laws so there will be 7 of us in a 2 BR BLT villa. The price difference was over $2500.

So, while obviously late September-early October is peak hurricane season how are the crowds? I'm actually more worried about the crowds than the hurricanes. The crowds were ok when we went in late October but there were some long waits. Are the crowds better in September or are they worse? If they are better then we'll probably just cross our fingers and hope the hurricanes stay away!

The reason for the hurry is because my husband is putting in for his time off in September-October on Tuesday and I need to make the decision on when we should go. So, I would really love some opinions on this. Thank you so much!

We have gone the first ten days of September; the middle ten days of the month and the last year towards the end of September for four days before going to Marco Island for a week. Now, please note that we have left BEFORE Food & Wine started so I can't comment on that time frame.

But all of the times we have been there in September and have been absolutely wonderful with low crowds. We went in the midst of two hurricanes in 2008 and we had one hour of rain during a two week trip.

We never wait more than 10-15 minutes for any attraction. It is our favorite time to go.

Hi there,

We've gone our last 2 times in September (in 2008, it was the 2nd week of September and in 2010, it was the 3rd week). We're planning on visiting this September (first week, this year)... both times we've gone, the crowds have been great!!! Longest wait was for TSM @ HWS, but that's always a long wait. Beyond that, we didn't wait any more than 20 minutes for anything the entire time, and usually, no longer than 5-10 minutes for most rides/attractions. The crowds always are have been light for us... the weather is hit or miss on rain. It is hot... typically upper 80s/low 90s with high humidity, so there's almost always a "chance" of rain. We've been lucky with no tropical storms/hurricanes the 2 times we've went. In 2010, we experienced only 1 day of light rain, and it was extremely sporadic.

I believe the Food and Wine Festival is schedule for the early part of October this year, but I don't know historically what that does for crowds. Someone who is more in the know about that may be able to help you.

I also don't know how hot it is in October down there, but if you do switch to September, just be prepared for it to be hot! But as for the crowd levels, it's a really good time to go.

Good luck deciding!!

if you don't mind the heat, go in Sept...cheaper and less crowded but much hotter than in October...we live in Florida nad went last Sept 23-30 and it was miserable...just 2 weeks later the weather had cooled and much more pleasant

No crowds. Free Dining (if you like that). Cheaper cost. September is wonderful!! :goodvibes

You'll get a lot of people telling you it's hot, hot, hot but I guess it depends on what you are used to. Our family didn't find it unbearable. (We were there the 14-24th).

Go for it! $2,500 is a heck of a price difference you could do something else with.

I've been during both months and prefer October because the weather seems to be a bit cooler then even though it is sometimes more crowded. However, for $2500 I would definitely save the money and go in September. Just plan some pool time in the afternoon to beat the heat and you should have a great time!

September is still considered value season plus you didn't have the added expense of a child ticket. That's where the savings came in.

September is hot. Very hot. But the crowds were very managable this year (we were there Sept. 25-30). MNSSHP was going on - we had a good time.

We have gone every September since 2000. The crowds have never ever been a problem at that time of year. As for hurricanes, we had a close call dodging them in 2003 & 2004, but other than that the weather has been awesome.

Everytime we go we go in September, the week after Labor Day. Very little crowds . It might be hot but you wont die from it. Most rides have air or stop in a store for a little and cool off.. We have never had a problem with the heat. I will never going in the Summer Again. No more crowds for me..
