Ok....we are on the 11/27 7 nt. and I need your help! I'm going to buy a ring in St. Thomas and going to pop the BIG question while on vacation.....My problem is....I need some ideas. You guys are great and full of ideas...so spill away PLEASE!

I would like to ask her on the ship to narrow it down ;)

Thank you so much for helping!! I can't wait to see your ideas!

Travis

I'd talk to the manager in Palo. I envision a nice glass of wine or champagne with the wine in it. :) Or after dinner at Palo, go to the back of the ship outside Palo. Or maybe see if Mickey can get involved somehow.

My husband proposed while on the Magic. We had dinner ressie's at Palo. When we got there, there was a dozen roses on the table. I thougt he was just being romantic, because I'm always complaining that he never gets me flowers. We had our dinner. When the waitress brought out dessert, she brought our another covered dish. She said that she had this one made for me. When I uncovered it, there was a plate with ice chips, flower petals, and a ring box in the center. Of course I cried. A year later we were married an took our honeymoon aboard the Magic.

Yes he does, however he's NOTHING like my DH. And his brother hates Disney. I can't live with a person like that. ;)

OK, my husband and I came up with this....

Go to the Golden Mickeys show. At the beginning, outside the theatre, there is a "Red Carpet" arrival 15 minutes or so before the show begins. A "Joan Rivers" type of character interviews (usually) kids who are arriving for the show. The interview with the kids is simulcast on huge screens inside the theatre. Maybe you can talk to someone at the theater and have them interview the two of you and have your proposal broadcast live to everyone in the theater. Maybe they can even tape it for you. When you walk into the theater, everyone will recognize you and will cheer!

Good luck and enjoy your special moment...however you choose to pop the question.

Jamie and Brian

To the OP: are you sure your girlfriend won't mind sharing her special moment with a bunch of strangers on a huge screen tv?

I watched a girl cry hysterically at Disney MGM after her boyfriend proposed at the beginning of the Beauty and the Beast show. She said over and over again "It would have been so much more special if we were sitting alone ANYWHERE!".

Oh no...she is not like that....she is up for anything...that is one thing I love about her. Actually she would be more suprised that I would do something like this.....because i'm the shy one!! lol
:rotfl:

Keep the ideas coming...just incase I chicken out and can't do the Golden Mickeys!!!:scared1: :scared1: lol

If you are planning on picking the ring up in St Thomas then the Golden Mickey's idea is out.

Golden Mickey is performed on formal night (Sunday) and St Thomas isn't until Wednesday.

Thursday (day at sea) is semi formal night. You can pop the question at dinner. Speak to your server and let him have the ring to deliver with dessert. If you let your server know in advance I'm sure that he or she will come up with something spectacular.

I like the idea of seeing if you can get one of the characters onboard to help you out. Not sure if they would do this, but it is definetly worth asking.

Good luck with whatever you decide. You know most women love the romantic stuff so whatever idea you choose I'm sure she will love it.

I wonder if you could somehow get into a Mickey suit -- like the cast member wears and propose to her somehow at one of the shows or even at dinner. You could excuse yourself at dinner and get into the suit and pretend to visit your table while your "gone" and pop the question as Mickey! Of course, see if your server(s) can be relied on to take a picture of the occasion at the right moment.

I vote for Palo!

But wait until dessert is over, so she can enjoy her soufle!

Oh, I love this thread!

Travis, who is her favorite character? I like the Mickey idea, but what about a princess? Maybe you could get Cinderella involved, and pretend to have your gf try on the glass slipper. While you're on your knee helping her try on the slipper, you could pull out the ring and propose, saying "Now that we know the glass slipper fits your foot, I want to see if something else fits on your finger. The glass slipper may break, but this is forever." (Gag, I know, sorry.)

I think Palo's is wildly romatntic, but if DCL will cooperae, it seems like you could have other areas of the ship at your disposal. Perhaps arrange a tour of some part of the ship that you normally wouldn't see and propose there?

How about on Pirate night? You could bring a small treasure chest with you (like the kind they have for kids) and put it in there with some fake gold coins, and then have the waiter bring it to the table as a special "souvenir".

It all depends on whether you're looking for pure romance or something a little quirky. (Clearly, I'm a little quirky.) I think all of the idea that others listed here are great.

I like the "Treasure chest" idea, alot, as well as the Cinderella touch--all girls feel like a princess when they get married. While Palo's is great, I think if you are on a Disney cruise you should try to bring in a little more of Disney-like the characters, if possible.

But while a previous poster was describing the "Joan Rivers type interviewer" I thought if your GF was already in the theatre at the seats and "JOAN" stopped you on your way in (excuse yourself to the bathroom and then come back in). "JOAN" could stop and ask you where you were from, what you were doing and expecting to see or she could say something like "Is that a Harry Winston" ring? what is this for? You get the idea. Your unsuspecting GF would be in the audience watching you-and then maybe a CM could escort her from her seat to the aisle as you walk in and get on that knee!!!

This of course has alot of help and cooperation from CM's as well as having the ring ahead of time if this event is after St. Thomas.

Good Luck! No matter what it will be great. The event is the thing itself--not the where and the how!

Wow, what a bunch of romantics are out there!! This is great.

Travis, whatever you do, make sure we can witness it; that is, of course, if you decide to go w/ something more public.

I like that Cinderalla idea - very romantic & cute!

Now, I really can't wait to go on this cruise! :Pinkbounc

Aaaaaaaack! No! Someone stop the madness!

*What food item destroys a woman's sex drive? Wedding cake!
*A man is incomplete until he marries, then he's finished!
*It's not true that married men live longer than single men. It only seems longer.
*Two words. 'Free Milk'.

:teeth: Just kidding! Congrats!

What about on a island. Maybe CC and have a couple characters help you?

Many men would suggest you skip the dramatics and just throw yourself overboard. It is a much quicker and more peaceful death than marriage.

Only kidding......congrats and good luck on whatever method you choose.

Travis: If she says no....call me! :)

Just kidding. I'm sure whatever you decide will be amazing. Good luck to both of you!

My husband did exactly what you are planning. Though he bought my engagement ring in St. Martin & we had dinner in Palo's on Valentine's Day (he told me afterwards that he had to tell them *why* he need a reservation on Valentine's, since it was booked up by the time he got there). We had a lovely dinner & they brought the ring out with a "special" dessert.

The whole staff came out with dessert, and after I managed to tell him that I would marry him, it seems like the entire restaurant broke out in applause. It is a very romantic way to propose. After dinner we had a formal picture taken to remember the night (that's the one in my scrapbook).
