Go out And Get An Interview Done.. Asking Her To Marry you while She is in The theatre.. then u Can Come in give Her The Ring And All That Jazz....they could put the Spot light on Her and Maybe u Could Arrange to Have Her Video Taped While watching the Screen ??? I Believe u Could Be Right Behind Her while u Are having interview Done !!! She would just have to Turn Around..

I'm a huge romantic, however...I am also very detail oriented. I like to do a lot of research on big purchases like engagement rings. I would never want to buy such a special thing on a whim in a foreign country. I have heard stories about people getting awful deals, fake jewels, etc.

I like the dinner at Palo's idea. Have your meal, then your dessert. Then have your waiter bring out a "special treat" from the chef, with ice chips, rose petals, and the ring. I also really really like the pirates treasure idea.

Do you two have any special moments or hobbies you do together? I know my brother and his gf go running together all the time and he's thinking about encorporating that into the proposal, to make it more special and personal.

You could also go into the weddings and honeymoons forum. I'm sure they'd have some great suggestions for you!

I too have been married forever, but I have to admit I think that being proposed to is a private, special moment between the two of you.
We didn't have any special fanfare, no photographer, no crowd, but when he took my hand on a whim and looked right at me and said- I have loved you for lifetimes, will you please be my wife? He took my breath away.
Anyway you choose to propose will be special, give her a ring any kind (gum ball machine will do) and then shop together in ST Thomas for that special one. If you want to surprise her get it from the diamond exchange in NYC, she will love it because it comes from your heart.
Many happy years together. We just hit 21!

I like the last suggestion, but in case you still wan t to buy ring in St. Thomas (??) and want to do the Golden Mickey red carpet with "JOAN", try to find the Minnie glove with a huge "diamond" ring (Mickey size) . That way you can take your time in St.??? and she can go shopping with you. It will take the fun out of surprizing her with THE ring.
