Ok, we are one week from moving into our new house. We were talking to the builder yesterday, and he told us that he needs to know the dimensions of our breakfast nook table in order to place the light correctly in the room.

Here's the problem, our furniture is in storage in NC! ACK!! I have done a search, but can't find our set anywhere online. The table is the Broyhill Mill Creek line with two arm chairs and four side chairs. There is also a leaf, but I am not concerned about this being included, since we don't use it that often.

Does anyone happen to have this set, and be willing to measure the table and the arm chair total length for me?

TIA!! :flower:

Sorry I can't help but I am happy to bump this! :Pinkbounc

Why not just have the light placed in a central or other "appropriate" spot for the space

What happens if someday down the road you get a new table. You aren't going to be able to move the light if the new table has different dimensions.

How nice of him to ask. Our builder just centered the light in our dining room and since we have a sideboard and hutch it pushes our table out and causes the light to be off center with the table.

The breakfast nook was fine being centered because typically no other furniture goes into a nook except the table. I would think centering it there would be relatively safe.

We did think about this, but the breakfast nook area is long, with our patio doors at the end. We were thinking of putting it in the middle of the area, but it might be too far off.

We just wanted to estimate about how long it is, so we will have it centered over where the table would be. Our last breakfast area didn't have the light centered over the table, it had been centered in the middle of the room. It was off by about 6 inches.

I would have him center it in the space. I have a Tiffany style lamp that is on a chain that I mounted on a hook above the table which is not where the electricity comes out of the ceiling. It looks fine to me.

Gosh, that is lucky. Usually it is just "room centered" and it never works. I have a kitchen & dining room light that is not centered. Drives me nuts.
I am going to have to fix it.

I hope you your answer!

Try calling them at 1-877-518-9182. I'm sure they have got to have some record of that collection.

  We bought that for my MIL. I will call her and see if she will measure it for me.

It will probably be this afternnon before I can get a hold of her, and probably next week before I can get off the phone :earseek:

if it doesn't line up...if you are getting a "hanging" lamp...you can always get a hook and "swag" it over a bit to center it.

Thanks, Michie. I can relate to the phone conversation! My mom is the same way! :rotfl:

Stinkerbelle - We don't like the look of the chain as it is, so we don't want to have to swag it. It is a good idea, though.
