My 3 year old son and I are flying down to FL from Feb 19th-29th to visit family and I'm planning on taking him to MK on one of the days. It will be his first visit and my 5th but I haven't been there since 2003 (this kills me but living in MI makes it difficult to go). I've checked height requirements and the only thing he can't do it space mountain and I don't want to do splash mountain because I don't want us to be wet all day. I'm not doing any kind of dining reservations either. My biggest must do is the buzz lightyear ride, it's a small world, and BTMR. Also we MUST meet buzz, woody, and Jessie. I know buzz is outside of his ride and woody and Jessie are by splash mountain. The hours for the two days we're considering are 9am-9pm which are a Tuesday and Thursday. I plan to be there at opening.

How can I maximize our day without killing my toddler??? Can I do fastpasses in advance with just a one day ticket or do i have to do them there? What should I use them on??

Yes, once you have bought your tickets, you can book your FPs 30 days in advance. There is an excellent thread in the Everything FP+ subforum at the top of the Theme Parks forum : http://www.disboards.com/threads/fa...ed-priorities-and-strategies-part-ii.3326057/

This will give you all the basics about FP as well as how to prioritize your selections.

There is also a good, free, park touring guide that you can use for planning your MK day. It's the easywdw.com cheat sheet. It can help avoid standing in long standby lines.

If its been 13 years since your last visit you'll see a lot of changes to the MK. Have a great day!

He is little, so dont try to over plan. Maybe focus only on his must sees, then plug some other stuff in. That way you won't be upset if he tires out early and your packed planned day doesn't pan out.

As far as fastpasses with a 3 year old... You can do them ahead of time and I would schedule them for Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion, and 7D might not be bad ideas. If you're wanting to ride PP or 7D at all and not wait hours to ride them, then I definitely recommend those two. But if you're also definitely wanting to do BTMR, then maybe do that instead of HM. Try to schedule your fastpasses for as early as possible, as you can make more after they're used up at a FP+ kiosk. Since it's his first time, I also always suggest a visit to the one and only Mickey Mouse too! :)

I'd plan to get there at opening and book your FP+ maybe beginning at 11am. You won't need one for IASW.

We took my son last year for his 3rd birthday and he LOVED 7DMT but said he never wanted to go on BTMRR ever again. It was too jerky for him. He also loved the Junglecruise, just about everything in Fantasyland, and especially Tom Sawyer's Island. The parades are also a huge hit. Check out EasyWDW and see which day is recommended for MK.

Have fun!

For FP+ I would try to get 7DMT, Peter Pan and BTMRR. I've had no problem getting the Junglecruise, Haunted Mansion, Buzz, etc., as 4th, 5th, 6th selection.
