Hi. I found the "application to marry" worksheet for the marriage license by mail but i still need some help:

1. How soon should i send in the application?
2. How long does it take to get the actual application for marriage license back from them?
3. Once i mail it back to them, how long until i get it back?
4. **WHAT FORMS WILL I NEED FOR GETTING MY MARRIAGE LICENSE BY MAIL? WILL I NEED A COPY OF OUR BIRTH CERTIFICATES, ANYTHING ELSE??????
PLEASE HELP!

I emailed the clerk and she said to fill out the marriage kiosk form. Is this in place of the first "application to marry form?"

I'm confused!

1. I believe I started the application process a little over a month (6 weeks) before the wedding.

2. To be honest, I forget. Hopefully someone else can answer it for you. I can tell you my DH received (weren't living in same state at the time) before he left for WDW.

3. Notory Public is a seal that certain people have that can sign official documents. You can go down to the courthouse and find someone who has one. I actually went to a bank, and there was someone there who was a Notary.

4. I had some mishaps with mine (pastor mailed it in, not me). I have heard most people receive theirs back within 2-3 weeks.

5. Once they sign it. As long as you haven't started the process too early, you will be fine.

I believe there is a list of forms that are acceptable. I believe I used my drivers liscense. There maybe another form you have to send in. Again I'm sorry, but I forgot some of those details.

HTH

1. I started the process 2 months out b/c the Christmas holidays fell in the middle and I was worried my application would get backed up.

2. I'd say 1-2 weeks. It's all very quick.

3. Sometimes mailbox/shipping places have notaries on staff. And there may even be someone at your work who is one.

Here's a search engine for finding a notary in your area: http://www.thenotarylist.com/

We just used our drivers' licenses for ID when we met with the notary to sign our paperwork.

It came back with no Notary in my area.

I suggest doing what others have said and going to a bank or courthouse or your local City Hall. Many clerks are required to be notaries as part of their job descriptions :thumbsup2

Hi there-

Here is how things went for me...

I used Brevard County mail away license (http://199.241.8.125/index.cfm?FuseAction=MarriageLicenses.Forms).I mailed in the original application on 11/26/07 for my wedding 4/15/08. They started processing it late January. When I received the application to marry to get notarized, there was a spelling error. I called to let them know and they put a new, corrected one in the mail the next day. I had to get it notarized, send in the info with the payment and copies of our drivers licenses. When I spoke to the person at the county clerk's office, he assured me that once he gets the applications he takes them to the judge and gets them signed and out as soon as possible. I sent out the notarized affidavit on 2/26 and got the marriage license back 3/7!

Hope this helps :)

I just found it in my favourites as we had originally planned to get the licence by mail. As it happened, we didn't bother, and just headed to the courthouse a few days before our wedding
Cool, thanks for this!
So we only appear to have one in our town, so once we receive the docs that need notarising, we just ring up this notary to arrange an appointment??
