My family will be moving from Minnesota to Texas in 6 weeks. We have our next WDW trip planned for the week of Thanksgiving. I'm looking at flights and hoping for help from those of you with experience flying from the Houston area to Orlando. What is the typical price for flights? What is the typical airline of choice? When are the best prices usually offered?

Any help any of you can give me would be greatly appreciated! :thanks:

Let me welcome you to Texas, good news is you won't have to deal with snow, bad news is you'll have to get use to heat and humidity. As far as airfare goes sometimes its all over the place. I use to budget at $300 per person round trip but that doesn't seem valid anymore, more like $450 recently. There are two airports IAH(north) and HOU(south). Airlines include United, American, Delta and Southwest are some of the carriers. :thumbsup2

We are in houston and fly out of Intercontinental Airport-IAH. We fly United, usually pay about $300-350 but we also go peak times like Thanksgiving week. Its a great flight, only 2 1/2 hours.

Leave down by Galveston so normally fly out of Hobby - Southwest - going at Thanksgiving also - checking current prices for Southwest is around 416. rd. trip - Southwest opens their schedules from November 2 thru the last of December on May 6th.

The one good thing about Southwest is that there are no baggage fees and Hobby is a very manageable airport.

Do you know which part of the Houston area you will be moving to? Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is in north Houston and Hobby (HOU) is in south Houston. Southwest doesn't fly in/out of Intercontinental and United doesn't fly in/out of Hobby. The two airport are about 30 miles from eachother so you may want to take that into consideration when looking at flights. I'm currently looking for flights from Houston to Orlando for July and the fares are running about $430 for a roundtrip flight on Southwest. :scared: Hopefully prices go down soon!

Welcome to Texas! :wave2:

Welcome to the Lone Star State! We live in Katy, which is west Houston. Both airports are about the same distance for us, but we fly out of Hobby (HOU) and have always used Southwest. I have always managed to get a sale, and have paid anywhere from $88 each way to $112. These were for April and December the past 2 years. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone very the warm welcomes. We will be in Houston next week for our house hunting trip so I'll have a better idea of what area we will be in. We are thinking about the north, which would be close to IAH, but looks like we will need to drive further to go to HOU if that has the cheaper flights with Southwest. I won't do anything until Southwest comes out with their fares next week and then I'll just keep watching!

Thanks Again. :grouphug:
