Need Help From a Computer Expert

I am having strange internet problems. It keeps jumping to random websites. For instance, if I am reading a thread on the Dis and click the next page to go to; it goes to some search site or a site for cars or something. How do I get it to stop this? Do we have a virus?

Also, I can't read my yahoo email. It will go to the site, but when I click to open an email, I get an error message. I tried refreshing the page like it suggested but it didn't work. I get this message on every email I try to open.

Any suggestions?

Yup!

Reformat (quick) and reinstall.

Back up all files you need to keep before doing so.

If you're not what it's happening, it's just easier to reinstall. If you do, still it's quicker to reinstall then to clean...

Those hijacked PC are pain to clean.

I like - http://www.malwarebytes.org/ as a spyware /trojan detection and removal tool. It is free.

You could be having several different problems. This tool or spybot search and destroy or some other might help.

I don't know.... most times it is easier to remove the virus. Compared to the hours necessary to do a proper reformat. Also hoping that your recovery disks are intact with no errors or scratches. and that you have all the drivers for your hardware or no how to find the exact right one from the manufacturer's website. and that you have all your needed program disks, and all the passwords. and that you have all your data backed up. like book marks, emails, program data etc...

sometimes fixing the problem is as easy as finding and identifying the virus (or whatever). then getting the removal tool and let it run while you eatch TV.
